Geraldine is going to be on the Christmas TOTP too apparently. So although it won't make Xmas number 1 .... maybe, just maybe it could make the X-Factor's stay at the top shorter than usual. TIP are you sure about Robbie Williams on this single? I can't find any mention of it anywhere else!

I've voted for number 2. I think it will sell really well, but not well enough to beat X Factor.

 

The sales will probably depend on who wins X Factor. If it's someone the general public thinks is a worthy winner (ie Alexandra) then the people buying Geraldine will be people who like the song, and like Peter Kay/Geraldine. There will also be a few people who just hate the whole idea of X Factor or them hogging the Christmas number one slot who buy it, but there will be a lot more tactical buys of the song if it's someone who is generally less popular, such as Eoghan. In fact, if Eoghan wins, and it's obvious he doesn't deserve it, I can see there being a big battle. Not that Simon will care too much, because the publicity from the chart battle will increase the sales for his winning act too.

I don't get all the love for Geraldine McQueen though tbh, Peter Kay hasn't really invented a funny character.

I know I have loads of money on Leona being xmas No.2 but I wouldn't be devestated if this was, it's funny and I quite fancy having Geraldine's medley :lol:

It has time yet. Even if it goes in low top 10, it's one Christmas song I can see climbing the week after, cos really it's an anti-Christmas song.

Sadly! I am forced to agree with you! I did think at first 3 (with a tiny outside chance of 2) but I'd be amazed if it got top 10 now!

It debuted low on iTunes (no. 38 now), and there hasn't been much promotion. But Pop Factor was repeated last night, and part 2 is on Friday night. I definitely think it will be top 10, but maybe top 3 was overenthusiastic.

I actually think this will be lucky to make the top10, basically because it's got too much much competition fro all the other and better, "christmas regulars" and Alexandra.

Actually if this does not do as well as expected then at least it will be in keeping with most reality winners 2nd single :lol: ...Michelle McManus, Leon Jackson, Steve Brookstein etc, :lol:

if you want something to beat x factor, then there has to be just one song for people to buy.

There are too many campaigns for different songs and its split the sales.

Although I suspect even a campaign for just one song wouldn't have a hope.

The show was hilarious..I think they should have just released The winners song as a charity single rather than cashin in on it and then doing a single for Charity!
