I can see alexandra becoming an international star with the right songs and songwriters/producers etc etc.

And the fact that she was featured on americas biggest news channel Fox new because of her duet with beyonce.

Kinda crates a bit of buzz for her in america as well as the beyonce fans in america who seems to love her.

I believe Fox is the same network that creates American Idol so maybe simon had something to do with her

getting publicity in america??

i so would have loved this winning song to have been by Ruth Lorenzo i like alex but she doenst excite me for some reason but i wihs her the best i do think if they put as much effort into alex as they did leona she will have a great cghance of having a very good career

So she sold another 100k yesterday. If she can keep it up for today, and then of course the saturday sells should logically rise, she could and should beat Leona's first week sales.

lord god almighty..... what is the world coming too?...

Its coming to its senses.

The song is immensely growing on me

Now I truly like Alexandra's version to bits !

Hope Alexandra keeps selling like she has and beats Leona's first week sales :w00t:

Surprised that you're surpised by this mate... X-Factor is just a licence for Cowell to print money... The braindead sheep out there would probably buy a CD of an X-Factor winner farting through a fukkin' microphone if it was properly marketed..... -_-

got my cd today am impressed as it also have 'candyman' and 'without you' on it two of my fave performances

tbh the scale of this shytes popularity is much greater then i thought... cant understand why people buy into this circus, havnt people got brains anymore? or has watertwat washed away the nations taste? i guess this is the result of the s/a/w bandwagon indoctrinating kids in the late 80's onwards ..... so very sad.

You're pushing it a bit really. It is selling lots for the very simple reason that over 10 million people have watched Alexandra performing weeks after weeks during about 3 months, so it isn't surprising they spend like 50p in a download to get a piece of her - after all this time seeing her performing live (and performing really well should I say).

I mean, they're just buying a f***ing song, GET OVER IT.

i rest my case

Maybe people like Alexandra and voted for her? :o And they like the song also? :o

I know it's a hard concept to understand.

i rest my case

Indeed.

Still Cowell is far worse than Waterman ever was as they fell out after Pop Idol 2; where Waterman thought it was ridiculous the way the show was manipulated to create a Michelle McManus victory.

Whilst they are no longer on speaking terms after Waterman helped out a lot in the superb Peter Kay satire Britain's Got The Pop Factor..... & his Geraldine character.

Which brings us full circle to Leona 2.0 © The Word Magazine. Funny how she has pulled out of the Paul O'Grady show today ..... nothing to do with the small fact that Geraldine McQueen is on the show as well.

Obviously Simon Cowell does not want Alexandra to be outshone by a superior talent with a much better (well funnier) record.

Am I sheep for actually liking this? and actually buying the song? I thought I was allowed to buy a song if I liked it??

In the end, Geraldine is only successful for mocking the X Factor, so it really make me laugh when people are like "well done Geraldine, and f*** the X Factor", when in the end she only exists because the X Factor exists. ;)

Well your posts show that you really don't get the concept of Geraldine McQueen, whom Simon Cowell described as Geraldine McQueen "as a stupid pathetic waste of time" & has ended his friendship with Pete Waterman (Pete has confirmed this week that they are still not speaking).

The very fact is the first single "The Winner's Song" beat the first single post X-Factor of 2007 Leon Jackson speaks volumes of why it was absolutely necessary.

Also the very fact that song so brilliantly took the mickey out of how all X-Factor winning songs sounded like was enough to make Simon Cowell change the incredibly formuliac awful piano led ballad with an awful key change, a string arrangement & a gospel choir thrown in for this year's winners single. Not that Simon Cowell would ever admit to it.

The end of the day Geraldine McQueen exists because it is satire. He is taking the p!$$ out of this crass excuse of a TV programme, but in a humourous way. Hence why there is a growing list of top credible singer songwriters who refuse to allow Syco the rights to cover their songs on X-Factor (David Bowie; Paul McCartney (post Beatles); Bob Dylan; Bruce Springsteen; Paul Weller; Morrissey/Marr; Neil Young; Pet Shop Boys; Kate Bush; etc .... and this week Elton John has added his songbook to this list although he is such a two faced diva he could easily change his mind by the next series) were happy to allow their songs to be covered on this p!$$ take. Hence Paul McCartney's hilarious appearance on the Britain's Got The Pop Factor spoof.

Still if you like bad karaoke versions of great songs then that is your business. But I like creativity & originality in music with artistic merit. After all I think the food from places like McDonalds is vile but a lot of people would rather eat there than at a 5-star restaurant.

As Geraldine said on the Paul O'Grady show tonight "Buy Once Upon A Christmas Song & let's try & get it to #6 for the NSPCC" which is hilarious when you consider it is #5 in the midweeks.
