Meh. I'm just not fussed at all. We don't need spin-off contests, there is no reason we can't just have another contest

There is - if we have another contest in February, it gets pushed further back into March and we end up clashing with the ESC! :P

 

I don't understand your massive antipathy to the idea of spin-off contests when it just pushes the normal contests back by a week or two and it's been a very popular idea that has been requested several times until now? I am honestly beginning to think you just disagree with everything I advocate - I can't remember the last time we agreed on ANYTHING :lol:

But it won't just push it back by one week.....it's 3 weeks / 3 and a half weeks.

Not quite - we don't actually begin the contest (as in semi-finals etc.) the week after the final results, do we! :P So it will only shift it back by a week or so, so the contest doesn't begin in mid February but instead in late February...

Because it is a spin off surely it can overlap with the real thing by a week or so.

If the semis / final of the spin-off would be overlapping with confirmations for the next real contest then I don't have any issue with it.

Looking at the calendar, I'm of the opinion that the final will inevitably end up doing so anyway...
