Metric $h!tes all over Imperial.

When it come to Gallons, i know the USGal and the UKGal are both different and it's a stupid number of Litres.

When it come to MPH, We fill the cars with litres, talk about emissions per Kilometre and Ecomony is done in Kilometre per Litre and then again in MPG for the lazy brits.

fuel is now measured in litres party to comply with the eu but mainly to make fuel look cheaper.

Theres nothing cheap about petrol. regardless of what is sold in.

Gals would be easier to compare with the US where petrol retails for nothing per litre :manson:

the point was that petrol = £1 per gallon is a far better rate then at £1 per litre, in other words £1 per litre SOUNDS better then £4.5 per gallon!

thats why everything is priced at .99p ... 4.99 sounds better then £5.

another anglophobic post :P

i see no reason to change to the metric system, so what if theres an argument for ditching imperial? whats wrong with retaining something of our identity? if the british people want to keep imperial then we should. we have worked alongside other currencies/measures for years quite satisfactorily.

personally, im not keen on the euro as a design... the coins and notes are poorly designed imho, mind you ours aint much better...

Whats wrong with the way the Euro or the Pound are designed?

I have a question, please don't tell me I'm dumb, I'm just not from the UK. :D

Why hasn't the UK actually introduced Euro in 2002? What was the main reason?

I was only 7 when it was meant to be introduced, i don't know but i really can't think of a decent reason why not. I think if the UK did then we'd be a lot better off from exports...

In Hungary the inflation is around 7-8% and it should've been lower by now.

I do think 4.5% is rather high in a western european country. Germany has higher inflation now imo too but I don't know the actual numbers.

You're probably right, its the Daily Mail i read it from, and they are unbelievably negative and try to force doom and gloom down our throats about how the UK is falling to pieces, when its not tbh.

I'm no economist but based upon what happened to the Icelandic krona, it might be wise for the UK to move to the Euro...

Very good point, although Iceland's economy is a LOT smaller than ours and i don't think something that serious will happen.

It confuses me when gallons of oil are commonly referred to in dollars because i think thats how they're measured in the USA and litres of oil in Pounds. I can't memorise the conversions for gallons-litres OR dollars-pounds.

the £ coin and the euro coin is ok, but other coins and euro notes are awful. romans and medieval people created better designed coins.
With the pound losing 13% of its value against the euro in the last 2 months and a 25% fall against the dollar this year, does it really matter all that much?

I love it because it's cheaper for me to buy stuff in the UK (for example CDs on amazon) now that the pound gets weaker

Its also good for exports in the UK, which i may have said before :P

There was an interesting report about new capitalism by the BBC news a few nights ago. It showed that in future companies become so reliant on taxpayers; it's customers that it MUST listen to them. This can go quite far. I quite like the concept, does tend to limit freedoms for businesses though, hopefully only large corporations though ^_^ .
