October 6, 200817 yr Author Bump! Because someone insisted on posting this playlist on the Radio 1 thread
October 6, 200817 yr I've yet to hear Leon Jackson on Capital and it's been on the playlist a few weeks now hasn't it? I've only heard Dido a couple of times as well.
October 7, 200817 yr Bump! Because someone insisted on posting this playlist on the Radio 1 thread  Ahh..that'd be me - sorry! I wasn't aware that there was usually a separate thread for the Capital playlist and felt people should be made aware! At Capital there has always been a lot of pride taken in being a benchmark for the best new pop music and we have consistently playlisted a lot of the best pop acts before anyone else. Certainly with the new sound of the last 9 months or so the playlisting system has changed substantially to include much less indie/rock which, personally, is a shame. The old programmer Sheena Mason left a few months ago too so it's been all change - but I still like to think that we do it best!
October 7, 200817 yr Fab playlist. Whats this new Duffy song? Anyone with a link to it. This tune is exclusive to Capital at the moment. Duffy is re-issuing her album with this song added to it. It was exclusively played on breakfast with Johnny & Lisa either yesterday or Monday between 8 and 8.30 so you could always "listen again" on the website if you really want to hear it. The music on Capital has been a massive issue for years now since the station started to shed listeners. It's been the constant tinkering that has actually made things much worse than they should be. Personally I'm all for a balanced CHR format - so a bit of the best of everything. Right now we're aiming at more of a pop/RnB sound. Who knows how long that will last for though...there should be another mini re-launch soon back to 95.8 Capital FM with Richard Park back in charge now.
October 7, 200817 yr Author I hope it doesnt go indie again. I didnt use to listen to Capital because of that, now its a much better station. Radio 1 already fills the indie void, not to mention Virgin and the like. If anything, a little bit more dance would improve.
October 7, 200817 yr This is the world's most predictable playlist in the whole world ever  It basically proves exactly what's wrong with commercial radio and fits right in with the points made the culture secretary! It's just making the overplayed more overplayed and spoon feeding the same old stuff that it always has for the past 40 years! The fact their definiton of 'Indie' seems to be Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers (presuming it's them they're meaning with playing less 'Indie') says it all really! They just played guitar bands that because they are a 'trend' and watered down for people who listen to stations like these might like them! My point is that if something new and exciting that sounded different to everyone else came on the radio then most of it's listeners would probably have coughing and sneezing fits or something, that's my opinion on it! Playlisting great new pop acts! Like who? The Saturdays? erm.. Yay?

So it wasn't exclusive to Capital for very long. I wasn't impressed with this song. I still say Rockferry should have been given a full release. Why is she using so much vibrato now? You can really hear it in this new song. She appeared on the US programme Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago and her vibrato on Stepping Stone was overdone and highly annoying---especially at the ends of phrases. She needs to control that. I find it painful to listen to her. I never heard that vibrato when she sang in Jo Whiley's live lounge earlier in the year.

October 13, 200817 yr wow they really are trying to get rid of all the dance. I don't think so. It's just incidental that Eric Prydz and Basshunter both came off in the same week. R.I.O's release has been put off; that's why that was removed.
