Posted December 23, 200816 yr I thought we could have a thread on these. They're on the Sound of '08 list and therefore could be quite big next year. They've released two EP's so far (both of which are excellent) and could follow in the vein of Noah and the Whale next year.
January 12, 200916 yr No other Mumford & Sons fans??? They are grand! I heard them quite a while ago on Myspace. Their music is good for the soul :D
March 27, 201015 yr I thought I'd come into this forum to post about what is probably my favourite album of the last few months and one which has gone on to become fairly successful and was surprised to see this is all there was in here on Mumford & Sons. I have to say I wasn't really fussed when the album first came out but this year I've listened to it a lot and I absolutely adore it. Apart from the final track I think everything on it is great. I love Marcus Mumford's voice and the album is surprisingly varied for something of its type. It's been number one in Australia and has gone on to become a consistant seller here now, spending every week this year in the top 20 of the album chart. I know Pitchfork gave it a 2.1/10 review but I wouldn't pay any attention to that, probably not cool enough for them. On Amazon it's recieved 86 reviews, of which 69 are 5*. I don't think I've ever seen an album reviewed so positively on there at all and it's truly deserved. fNy8llTLvuA p7TrU4_-JTY DHWsKTSdS74
March 27, 201015 yr I totally agree. I thought the album was good on first listen but it's grown on me steadily ever since and has been one of my most played albums in recent months. Its chart performance suggests that there are plenty of other who have taken their time to recognise how good it is.
March 27, 201015 yr Same for me actually. I love this acoustic/folk/indie sorta thing. It's been steadily growing on me too. I am really hoping they recieve a couple of awards for this album, as it is quite something. I really wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do. I dunno about anyone else but it reminds me of Noah & The Whales latest album 'First Days of Spring'.
March 28, 201015 yr The album didn't do anything for me on first listen. Now I really like it. Not sure which are the weakest tracks. Probably between 'I Gave You All' and 'Thistle & Weeds'. I didn't really think about this band that much until 'Winter Winds' came out last December. Edited March 28, 201015 yr by FM11 InTheHouse!
