Posted December 23, 200816 yr I'll add my top 10 albums and singles over the next couple of days. I'm gonna miss 2008, it's been a great year in music for me and there were definitely a number of singles and albums that I wanted to chart, however I've narrowed it down to 10 of each. I've got some typical Buzzjack albums and some not so typical, I'll probably forget about this, so I'll set it as my homepage so I remember :)! Albums Number 10 http://i44.tinypic.com/9778gl.png Konk - The Kooks The Kooks released their second album in 2008 and I have to say, at first I was quite disappointed as it did not match the great Inside In/Inside Out album of 2006. However I found their were some great tracks and all in all it was a pretty good album! It's still not as good as their debut though, in my opinion of course! UK Chart Position: 1 My Chart Position: Did Not Chart (My Chart ran March, November-December) Favourite Track: Mr Maker Least Favourite Track: Tick Of Time Favourite Single: Shine On (UK Number 25) Singles Number 10 http://i39.tinypic.com/2u4ucnt.png Save The Lies- Gabriella Cilmi Save the lies was the second single from Lessons To Be Learned and the follow up to the hugely successful Sweet About Me. I much prefer this song, I love the music and the lyrics. I don't really know what else to say except that it's a great song and Gabriella at her best! Her album will chart later in the albumssss. UK Chart Position: 33 My Chart Position: Did Not Chart Number 9's coming later :P Edited December 24, 200816 yr by nickthenoodle
December 23, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 9 http://i39.tinypic.com/33wqsyc.jpg Circus - Britney Spears Britney came back in style this year and I must say this album is a world better than Blackout, for me the album has two standout tracks "Circus" and "If You Seek Amy". The majority of the album is very good, but I can't help but feel that Britney will never again match the 'mazin In The Zone. UK Chart Position: 4 My Chart Position: 5 Favourite Track: If You Seek Amy Least Favourite Track: Radar (Cos it was on Blackout too!) Favourite Single: Circus (UK Number 32ish) Singles Number 9 http://i43.tinypic.com/9tpe6q.jpg Footprints In The Sand - Leona Lewis This was Leona's first non-X Factor helped single, although it did have a charitable backing, she proved that she's able to make it on her own and doesn't need an X Factor performance to help her in the charts. This is my favourite something relief single yet, it's such a powerful song and really shows off Leona's vocal range! UK Chart Position: 2 My Chart Position: 1 (1 Week) Edited December 23, 200816 yr by nickthenoodle
December 23, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 8 http://i43.tinypic.com/ddc5rc.jpg Spirit (The Deluxe Edition) - Leona Lewis Spirit was a great album and it would've been my number 1 of last year if I made a chart, but anyhow, the deluxe edition has three great new tracks which I love . It's a great debut album from Leona Lewis, but I've listened to it so many times now, I can't wait for some new material. Here are some stats, although there are only three tracks technically from Deluxe Spirit so one of them will "win" each category :P. UK Chart Position: 1 My Chart Position: 1 Favourite Track: Misses Glass Least Favourite Track: Forgive Me Favourite Single: Run (UK Number 1) Singles Number 8 http://i39.tinypic.com/o7oaxg.jpg We Are One - Same Difference I loved Same Difference on the X Factor and I was ecstatic when I heard they'd been signed, I wasn't sure if Simon Cowell would be able to capture their magic on a single, but his team of writers did! This song is pure cheese pop, like the whole album basically, it's what the chart has been missing but unfortunatley it flopped so it's going to continue to miss it! UK Chart Position: 13 My Chart Position: 2 Edited December 23, 200816 yr by nickthenoodle
December 23, 200816 yr I'm confused. Save The Lies is your 10th favourite single of the year, but you didn't even chart it
December 23, 200816 yr Author Cos it was released when I didn't have a chart :P From January - February and April - October :)
December 23, 200816 yr We R One is a bit meh and overly cheesy, Save The Lies is great and FITS is too sentimental imo :( . But i'm sure you've got better high up :D
December 23, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 7 http://i39.tinypic.com/iw7j8j.jpg Jordin Sparks - Jordin Sparks I loved Jordin on American Idol and have lover her ever since, this is a great debut album and has some amazing tracks on it, however it's overall quality is slightly dragged down due to the amount of deadwood on it. Still, in my eyes it's really worthy of the success it's had and the singles are great. UK Chart Position: 17 My Chart Position: 1 Favourite Track: See My Side Least Favourite Track: God Loves Ugly Favourite Single: Tattoo Singles Number 7 http://i39.tinypic.com/alom4m.jpg The Devil's Beat - Sandi Thom When I first heard Sandi Thom back in 2006 I loved her, but then I bought her album and I was left slightly disappointed, the disappointment continued when I first heard this, but after three listens I loved it! It's really under-rated in my opinion it's a marvellous lead single off of a great sophmore album. UK Chart Position: 58 My Chart Position: Did Not Chart
December 23, 200816 yr "'mazin" ( :kink: ) chart so far Nick  :o I actually forgot about Sandi Thom
December 23, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 6 http://i42.tinypic.com/2h3bgvd.jpg Here We Stand - The Fratellis As soon as I heard the words "If You Were A Shape, What Shape Would You Be" I knew I'd like this album, I honestly wasn't disappointed. It's a world better than their 2006 album Costello Music and for a while I considered placing it in the top five. It's a great blend of styles and there are some great standout tracks UK Chart Position: 5 My Chart Position: 3 Favourite Track: Jesus Stole My Baby Least Favourite Track: Mistress Mable Favourite Single: A Heady Tale Singles Number 6 http://i40.tinypic.com/vz7od3.jpg Run - Amy MacDonald It was at the beginning of 2008 that I discovered the magnificent Amy MacDonald and her true glory. I bought This Is The Life in January as part of the album under 5 pounds collection and I don't regret it! This song was released earlier in the year and is an amazing, subtle, song which truly deserved more chartwise UK Chart Position: 75 My Chart Position: 1
December 23, 200816 yr Author "'mazin" ( :kink: ) chart so far Nick  :o I actually forgot about Sandi Thom  Shame on you :P Although I will admit I only actually bought The Pink And The Lily the other day. It truly is fantastic :D Top 5 tommorow :)
December 23, 200816 yr Then you go and spoil it with The Fratellis :puke: (Glad they flopped) I'm not a fan of Amy M either TBH, but I do love 'Run'
December 23, 200816 yr Author Sorry :P It's kind of out of character for me to like a band like them, but I do:p
December 24, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 5 http://i40.tinypic.com/2holmpx.jpg The Pink And The Lily - Sandi Thom I, like many, was left extremely underwhelmed by Sandi Thom's chart topping 2006 debut Smile... It Confuses People. Which, understandly left me hesitant in buying her second offering. But I'm glad I did, it's the most recent purchase on my list and already it has a place in my heart as one of the albums of the year. I expect, due to it's uber-flopness that this will be the last Sandi Thom album on a major label, but it's a great way to say goodbye UK Chart Position: 25 My Chart Position: Did Not Chart (Yet ;)) Favourite Track: Wounded Heart, The Last Picture House In Town Least Favourite Track: I'm A Human Being Favourite Single: The Devil's Beat Singles Number 5 http://i41.tinypic.com/4grhoo.jpg Warwick Avenue - Duffy This song is absolutely amazing and I can reveal it's one of two Duffy songs in the top 5. If I'd been running a chart at its time of release this surely would've been number one for many a week! But alas it wasn't. Unfortunately this song reminds me of plane food because I was listening to it whilst eating salsa pretzels on the plane and now I constantly think of that when I listen to this song. UK Chart Position: 3 My Chart Position: Did Not Chart
December 24, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 4 http://i39.tinypic.com/2008g8y.png Lessons To Be Learned - Gabriella Cilmi This album has to be one of the debuts of the year, I bought the CD for my mum and put it onto my iTunes library, listened to it and thought nice enough. Then when the second single was released I really came to love this album, there's some really great tracks on it, it's a really good pop album with a bit of an edge. I hope to see more from Miss Cilmi next year! UK Chart Position: 8 My Chart Position: 1 Favourite Track: Einstein Least Favourite Track: Cigarettes and Lies Favourite Single: Save The Lies, Warm This Winter Singles Number 4 http://i44.tinypic.com/2dr99ir.png Tattoo - Jordin Sparks This is definitely my favourite Jordin Sparks single and for a while after hearing it I was rather addicted to it. It's not achieved the recognition it deserves in the UK because it's not chavvy enough, unlike her Top 3 Hit No Air. I still love it which is why it's number 4. Sold 1 Million copies in the United States. UK Chart Position: 24 My Chart Position: 1
December 24, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 3 http://i41.tinypic.com/108gxp2.png Pop - Same Difference Same Difference were amazing on X Factor and I spent at least 3 Pounds voting for them throughout the duration of the fourth series of the X Factor. It's nice to know my money was money well spent as it got them to third place and got them a record deal. This is pure pop from tracks 1-12. But it's great, if you liked Steps, you'll like Same Difference. It's a shame it flopped though and it'll probably be their debut and farewell album. UK Chart Position: 22 My Chart Position: 1 Favourite Track: I Need A House, If You Can't Dance Least Favourite Track: Breaking Free :puke2: Favourite Single: We Are One Singles Number 3 http://i42.tinypic.com/2mrtfe1.png In My Place - Ana Free Ana Free is a Portuguese artist who found fame after uploading her videos onto Youtube earlier this year, her amazing voice and guitar helped her to a number 2 single in her homeland. This song is incredible and I can't wait until she releases her album next year, she's on iTunes so if you've got 79p to spend I recommend you give this a listen! It was also my second most successful BJSC entrant, I was so close to qualifying with Ana :) Portuguese Chart Position: 2 My Chart Position: 8 (Still on!)
December 24, 200816 yr Author Albums Number 2 http://i43.tinypic.com/35lx9vo.jpg This Is The Life - Amy MacDonald Technically this was released in 2007, but I bought it in 2008 and it reached its peak so :P. As soon as I bought This Is The Life I knew I'd like it, after a few listens through I loved it. This is my favourite folk album of all time, I do only own three though, but yes it's a great album and almost every track is high enough quality to be released as a single. In fact I'd say some of the weaker tracks (LA) were releaed. I love Amy MacDonald and this album is the start of what I hope will be a long and successful career UK Chart Position: 1 My Chart Position: 1 Favourite Tracks: Youth Of Today, Let's Start A Band, Barrowland Ballroom, Road To Home, Footballer's Wife  Least Favourite Track: N/A Favourite Single: Run, This Is The Life Singles Number 2 http://i44.tinypic.com/2i6dxjb.png Run - Leona Lewis It took me a long time to decide which of my top three should scoop the prize and this song, for a while, I believed would be my number one. It's a fantastic song and one of my favourite cover versions of all time. It is incredible performed live and it deserved to make number 1. However my number one song, in my eyes, is just epic and narrowly pips the mighty Leona Lewis to the proverbeal post.
