December 30, 200816 yr How does the Pope really know what Gods plan is anyway? I don't hate the christian religeon (I think it's a good thing to give people hope) but what I do hate is how the church twists the words of the bible to suit thier own ideals. :( Edited December 30, 200816 yr by Sabrewulf238

December 30, 200816 yr The Pope needs to take his head out of his hole and grow a pair. If he can't acknowledge what goes on in his church, then he should shut his face and let people decide what they want to feel is right and wrong. The whole church thing freaks me out. I'm an Agnostic Atheist, by the way. ^_^ (Yes, there is such a thing!) Edited December 30, 200816 yr by Cal

I don't hate the christian religeon (I think it's a good thing to give people hope) but what I do hate is how the church twists the words of the bible to suit thier own ideals. :( the church created the bible and choses which bits to mean something and which bits to ignore, the bible clearly has not got the same author as creation! the natural world isnt open for debate, the laws of nature are precise and exact to the extreme... the bible in comparison is a joke. Religion doesn't give people hope. It just lures them into a false sense of security. spot on! :)
January 8, 200916 yr its not gay people we need 'saving' from.... its the bloody evil catholic church... hell, i used to think father ted was a comedy, i now see it was a documentary lol. As a very lapsed Catholic, and an ex-Catholic schoolboy, I can very much attest to the accuracy contained within Father Ted.... There really WERE Priests like Father Jack that I knew of.... How clever of Mr Linehan to use fantastic humour as well as his own knowledge (as he is clearly an ex-Catholic himself..) as a savage indictment of this "faith".... Sometimes humour really is the best weapon.....
January 8, 200916 yr Religion doesn't give people hope. It just lures them into a false sense of security. Agreed..... The church criticises Psychology, but at the end of the day, Psychology, when practiced properly (and not in some daytime chat show, 'touchy-feely' way), forces you to confront yourself and deal with who you really are... All the Church/Mosque/Synagogue does is offer a false "hope" with this ridiculous notion of some sort of 'reward' in heaven.... Sabrewulf is right, just how the hell does the Pope even know what "god"'s plan is...? Does he have "god" on speed-dial or summat, are they 'txtin' one another.... Is God on the Vatican "Facebook" or "Bebo" telling them his plans......? I think not....
January 8, 200916 yr will someone just shoot the guy? Humanity needs to be saved from lots of things, gays arent one of them. I'd say humanity needs to be saved from religion. the cancer that surrounds us everywhere. Shall we all unite and just assasinate the silly twat?
January 13, 200916 yr As ever, I can only offer a simplistic view on the whole thing. Everybody else seems to have summed up my sentiments quite well  What strikes me the most (YET again), is how the Church bangs on about homosexuals threatening the future of humanity, when religion is the biggest source of evil in the world today. How many people have been hurt or have suffered as a result of homosexuality? Probably only those homosexuals who have been persecuted by others because of prejudices and hatred primarily spread by...um...THE CHURCH! If we're going to talk about the end of humanity... Humans killing themselves off by ALL turning gay. Or a madman pressing the nuclear button in one of the various wars going on in the world, which tend to be based on religious differences. I know which one my money's on. The Pope really needs to begin to consider the damage wreaked on the world by his own and the other organised religions in the world today first. Because THAT is the biggest threat we face today.
January 13, 200916 yr On a seperate note anyone know if JJN has been banned or has died or anything ? his silence recently given his stance on relgion and homosexuality etc is very surprising
January 14, 200916 yr Oh he probably smited himself for associating with a load of gayboys on this here internet site.
January 14, 200916 yr On a seperate note anyone know if JJN has been banned or has died or anything ? his silence recently given his stance on relgion and homosexuality etc is very surprising i had a pm requesting him be banned, i dont have the power to ban him, but wouldnt anyway. we NEED opposing views as long as they are legal...lol . i dont know whether or not he is banned... but shouldnt be. his views might be objectionable to some, most even, but i do believe he was genuine in his views and therefore should be allowed to post and be challenged.

He/she has a one-track mind though... We have loads of general discussions on many topics here of international concern, the only ones JJN replies to are the religious ones....... I dunno, I think JJN just tries to deliberately offend just to wind people up sometimes....

I dunno, I think JJN just tries to deliberately offend just to wind people up sometimes.... i dont agree, i think he is very into his religion and sees everything through his religious eyes. now in a free world <_< ( i know, i know) having a religious belief is still legal. i dont think he deliberately sets out to offend, i do think he is being true to his doctrine, which by default will be offensive to some...

Raping children seems acceptable to this idiot, whereas homosexuality amongst consenting adults is a "sin"...... Utterly ridiculous..... Being "into" religion is, if you ask me, the reason why the world is the utterly fukked up place that it is now....

Being "into" religion is, if you ask me, the reason why the world is the utterly fukked up place that it is now.... hes never condoned the actions of perverted preists. it isnt wrong to discuss the religious notion that homosexuality is a sin, it tells them that in their good book <_< so naturally they believe it. if we ignore or ban that belief then itll never get changed. nope, im all for having these oppinions aired and our positions challenged.
January 14, 200916 yr it isnt wrong to discuss the religious notion that homosexuality is a sin, it tells them that in their good book <_< It's actually VERY vague..... Leviticus is often the justification for this homophobic nonsense..... and frankly, Leviticus spouts so much ridiculous and vague rubbish that to pick and choose like that is VERY, VERY selective to say the least..... If you've ever worked on a Sunday (you know, the Sabbath...), then I feel you have no right whatsoever to get all hoighty toighty about what people get up to in the privacy of their own bedrooms or spout on about fukkin' "God's Laws".....
January 14, 200916 yr I do find JJN's posts eccentric to put it politely but I do feel he has a right to express them however bizarre they are, likewise I would have no problem with a BNP member or a holocaust denier coming on here and expressing their views on things , debate is about balance of views however weird some of the opposing views may be
January 14, 200916 yr I would have no problem with a BNP member or a holocaust denier coming on here Oh, I would just love it if either of those came on here.... I'd love to tear them apart with actual truth.....
