ya i cant wait for ian's opinion on his return he will blame christian for everything. Bringing back nick was of no benefit the only way he would have worked was either to have killed dot or return as a reformed charactor other than that its the same everytime we see him..bianaca and rickys return worked brilliant and its great having them back but it shows sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt

huh bloody daft storylines.... i mean, that bint walked into a garage with billy and mates, do as i say or we will harm jay.. why tf didnt they grab HER? i mean... then its a fair exchange and billy could have testified... bonkers!

nick... oh dear oh dear oh dear.... just like ressurecting den, nick is a complete cartoon caracter of himself. a totally nonsense character, unlike what he was originally.

In total agreement with you Rob - this show is just sh ite lately.

In general - it does seem that Eastenders fans mistake 'shouting' for good acting on a number of occasions! They should really watch Dog Day Afternoon - the shouting in that would bring them to orgasm! Having said that - DDA was a bloody good film!

THE SHOw is far from $h!te how can you say because of one bad actor the show is $h!te...have you not enjoyed any of the comic scenes mixed in with the nasty nick stuff?? plus phil struggling with alchohol has been portrayed brilliantly and likewise the whitney storyline is continuing they are showing the aftermath of such a trauma.

Why people who clearly dont like eastenders tune in is beyond me unless they are watching to remind themselves of how good a soap should be when they are used to watching 2 itv soaps that are full of absolute drivel and a certain one of those thats gets away with blue murder because its on air so long

one bad actor?...

drunks are not entertaining, so maybe his portrayal is good, but it aint fun. comic scenes? try emmerdale for them ! :P

because not ALL of the programme is rubbish, it CAN be good when they get the storyline and script right. i want to like ee, but (like shameless) i feel constantly let down.

nick didnt have to be brought back like this, yet again trying to kill his 'ma' <_< , why not just have him in the show as a piece of scum? robbing, ducking, diving, etc he could have been a fantastic regular character...one we would love to hate!

Compared with the other soaps, the acting on EE is virtually oscar-worthy. I've watched Emmerdale, Corrie and Hollyoaks now and again, and jesus, the acting is just total crapola. Jimmy and Nicola (?) on Emmerdale are especially bad.

they are HILARIOUS... just take the acting with a pinch of salt, soaps aint shakespear.

They are on TV getting big salaries doing this "job". Does everyone have the right to be pretty crap at their job? No, so I dont think these people should go unjudged either.

Sorry :kink:

New Casting:

BBC soap EastEnders has cast its first ever adult disabled actor.

Wheelchair user David Proud will take on the role of Manda Best's (Josie Lawrence) son Adam, a 20-year-old self-obsessed, snobbish Oxford University student who arrives in Walford during the holidays to stay with his mother.

Upon his arrival on the Square, Adam quickly forms a low opinion of Manda's boyfriend Minty (Cliff Parisi), while there's an intellectual meeting of minds as he's introduced to Libby Fox (Belinda Owusu).

Both character and actor suffer from Spina Bifida, a developmental birth defect which results in an incomplete formation of the spinal cord.

Speaking of his casting, the 26-year-old said: "I'm delighted and honoured to be joining such a talented cast. I'm very excited and looking forward to bringing the character to life."

Executive producer Diederick Santer said: "I'm delighted to welcome David to EastEnders. He's a fine young actor with a wonderfully dry comic delivery playing an interesting and possibly rather irritating character. I'm sure he and his character Adam will be strong additions to EastEnders.

"In recent years, we've had a number of regular and guest characters with disabilities, some of them children like Janet Mitchell and more recently Syd's son, Noah. We've also told the story of Jean Slater who suffers from bipolar disorder."

He added: "But this is the first time we've had a regular adult character with a visible disability played by an actor with a disability. It's about time."

Proud begins filming within the next few weeks and will make his screen debut in the autumm.

His previous screen credits include a lead role in CBBC basketball drama Desperados and ITV's second series of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.

In December, Channel 4 series Hollyoaks announced the casting of Guillain-Barré Syndrome sufferer Kelly-Marie Stewart. She took on the role of bubbly joker Hayley Ramsey, who also suffers from the same condition on screen. Stewart made her first appearance in the teen soap at the end of January.

In March, Emmerdale cast the first blind actress in a UK soap with Kitty McGeever as comic character Lizzie Lakely. The mischievous petty criminal arrived in the village at the end of April.

Last month, Coronation Street signed deaf actress Ali Briggs for another stint in Weatherfield as Emily Bishop's (Eileen Derbyshire) niece Freda.

Nick as a regular character again would be a terrible idea, if John Altman's recent attempts at acting are anything to go by! Panto is fine for the odd storyline, but anything longer and the joke wears thin.

Whitey's stalker/potential love interest/brother whatever is FIT.

I seem to enjoy the Jacksons right now. Biana & Whitney are doing incredible stuff at the moment and it gets better when Whitney's mum arrive at the door lol can't wait for next week :D

I literally cannot believe they're seriously pushing this Phil/Dawn thing :heehee: Although in all honesty I find it a hot prospect.
phil struggling with alchohol has been portrayed brilliantly and likewise the whitney storyline is continuing they are showing the aftermath of such a trauma.

Pete - Phil's struggling with alcohol has been hilarious but far from realistic or touching! Watch Coronation Street and see how the scripting and Peter Barlow's character are doing this - realistically - actively encouraging the massive contribution and necessity of outside help in the form of the very necessary and worthy Alcoholics Anonymous. Sometimes Pete you really are blind to the failings of Eastenders - you see positive in everything they do without looking objectively at it. Yes - Corrie has its failings and I'm the first to admit that sometimes it is crass and cheesy ... but you won't admit that EE gets anything wrong. And on this alcohol front - Eastenders has made a joke out of a very, very serious subject.

Norma

I don't agree (on either point). Firstly Pete has criticised the storyline involving Nick and Dotty on a number of occasions, and secondly the portrayal of Phil's decent has been realistic in that it took him a fair while (in relative terms) to realise that he was damaging his own life and that of others (Ben, Shirley). We've seen him attempt to attend meetings, take verbal abuse from a his employee's girlfriend; it's like he's become a defeated man. I guess where I'm going with this is that he didn't show drunkardness as something altogether awful - because many an alcoholic doesn't think it to be so until they're sober - but he has shown realistically the 'come down' into sobriety.

Disagree entirely ... EE gets it wrong (with rather bad acting to boot I might add) ... Corrie gets it right! We'll just have to agree to disagree!

Norma

Can I just add on another point ... again ... shouting - Bianca shouting for all her worth ... and EE defenders will see this as good acting! I just don't get it! It was just shouting for chrissakes!

well you can say all you like about the soaps but corrie definitly gets the acting wrong alot more than it gets it right there are and have been so so many bad actors on corrie its unbelievable....even the press as much as they slate eastenders and boy do they slate it the one thing eastenders always gets praised for is having very strong actors and i know awards are not everything but eastenders have picked up far more best actor/actresses awards than all the soaps put together
