I have heard Blackout Crew´s great song Put A Donk On It. Is there coming album from them? There is hardly any information on internet about that act.

I miss this group i quite liked their song "Bbbbounce" it was catchy i hope they're plannin on relasing something this year since dance music is more popular than ever.

I am glad you have resurrected this thread Dinno. I was thinking about this troupe only the other day with memories of how dire they were.

Let this be a lesson to us all about how music can come and go in FADZ. 2009's Backout Crew is surely 2012's Lana Del Rey.

(for the record I am a mild fan of Lana's)

Lana needs to put a motherf*cking donk on it before she can begin to compete.
The Blackout Crew

The Blackout Crew are a five piece bouncy techno/happy hardcore /rap act from Bolton, England who had a hit album in the UK in 2009 with Time 2 Shine which peaked at number 42.

The album contained four singles, Bbbbbbbbbounce, Put A Donk On It, and Dialled, none of which were hits in the UK.

Put A Donk On It made #91 if that's classed as a hit? And also, it appears the person who wrote this can't count.

I have memories of these guys being particularly terrible. :(

I want them to return with new stuff... just kidding. Though it's funny that they've disappeared, many would say it's good riddance. :heehee:

Yeah, weird case of an act getting loads of publicity and airplay - I remember seeing their videos all the time and their tracks on all the compilations - but got absolutely no singles success, other than that one week at #91 for Put A Donk On It (which is hardly 'success').

I always saw them as a novelty joke band in the same league as Goldie Lookin' Chain, so never took them seriously. And I kinda have a soft spot for them because this kind of stuff I used to listen to loads back then as a teen

oh. my. god. they were AMAZING in the sense that they were so terrible, they were like a comedy act to me. 'put a donk on it' is probably the funniest song I've ever heard and still makes me laugh now. just... oh god.

The Blackout Crew were formed at the Harmony Youth Project, their local youth Club in Bolton; it was there the “quirky” group recorded their first tracks and set the foundations and style of a debut album, self titled Blackout Crew!

This new breed of boy band began distributing their tracks themselves amongst friends and family resulting in a growing circle of fans who followed the guys through social networking sites, their You Tube page and bluetoothing their tracks from phone to phone.

But despite with their rising popularity, The Blackout Crew still struggled to make money from their music as their fan base were illegally downloading their music.

The Blackout Crew were Initially formed by youth leaders Paul and Charlie and were inspired by the donk sounds of Alex K and the NRG/Bounce music played at the likes of Wigan Pier and various North-West clubs.

The first wave of Blackout Crew members included Viper (Kurtis Chadwick), Rapid (Robert Davis) & Dowie (Kevin Allison). They were later joined by Zak (Zak Kabbani) & Cover (Jordan Cover).

In 2005 the Blackout Crew started touring covering under 18’s Events across the UK, which gave them huge exposure outside their hometown.

Following on from their hugely well received tour, The Blackout Crew went on to film a gritty video for BBBBounce, produced by BBP (on a budget of £8!) and shot in the suburbs of Bolton. The video was fantastically received by Bouncy House fans and clinched the guys a deal with record label giants AATW in 2007.

2008 saw the release of ‘Put A Donk On It’ – an instant anthem which not only pleased the ever-growing fan-base but also caught the attention of the media and has led to pieces in The Times and The Guardian.

Their videos have become a huge focal point for their fans gaining You Tube views of over 10 million, making them the biggest music TV phenomenon for 14-18 age group.

They have now completed their debut album which will feature all the tracks above plus the new single Rumpa Pumpa.
