I'd agree Ben. Pains is a good record but it just doesn't DO enough to be up there with AC or YYYs. Both the former bands have crafted records with such a range of thoughts, ideas, images and sounds, the level of ambition and quality songcraft transcends the efforts Pains make with ease. And for good reason Pains are a new band whereas the other two are obvious veterans now.

ALBUM RELEASE BROUGHT FORWARD

Yeah Yeah Yeahs have announced that they are pushing up the release date of their highly anticipated forthcoming album.

'It's Blitz!' is set to be released digitally in the US on March 10 and in other parts of the world on March 9.

The physical album will hit US stores on March 31 and the rest of the world on April 6.

The album, which was produced by he band's long-term producer Dave Sitek as well as Nick Launay (who's producing The Cribs' new album), was originally set to be released April 13 in the UK and a day later in the US, but the online leak of the album caused the band to release it more than a month early.

In a blog posting on Yeahyeahyeahs.com, the band wrote: "The cat's out of the bag after IT'S BLITZ! escaped from our clutches into the big bad world last week. Why should some have and some have-not?

"YYYs have been brimming with nervous excitement in anticipation of releasing this record to the world! Leaks are NO FUN but it's out of our hands."

Pains are sugar coated candyfloss compared to YYYs.

I didn't like Zero at first. But now I can't stop playing it.

Haven't heard the rest of the album yet though.

Well I've re-listened to the album and I do not get what is so amazing about it. It has a few excellent tracks ('Zero', 'Heads Will Roll', 'Hysteric') but apart from that it is just good.

I don't normally agree with your views on music... but on this occasion I definitely do. The album after a few songs bores me in general, and it does seem to be quite pedestrian in places.

I'd still say it was "quite good" but nothing of the "brilliant, fantastic" hype it has been getting.

Zero is so good for when in a bad mood.

Also does Skeletons not sound a bit bagpipey to anyone else?
