February 7, 200916 yr I don't think there are many that dislike So Human it is a brilliant POP track which would get votes if it were to be enterred as for the cheap arguement - I really really don't mind having cheaper entries in the contest, as I've said a hundred times in this contest, it's all about sending a song you love and for some people cheap entries are the only songs they love at that time which is fair enough - not everyone has the Rontvian determination to find an unknown artist. I also think that having a 'cheaper' song alongside a brand new artist it helps to make the unknown acts look more credible. I feel extremely proud knowing Dame Maggie beat P!nk in the final as it means she was voted better than a song which reached number 1 in the UK charts! So for me it's fine to have a couple of cheap entries which will inevitably do well and in some cases win just as long as the entire contest is not overwhelmed by them, for me the #10 spin off contest has really proved to me that a contest full of songs I already know is just plain dull but I also think a contest full of unknown songs would be a bit heavy too as you're never going to be able to appreciate each and every song with just a couple of listens
February 7, 200916 yr I've got no idea why Lady Sovereign is so hated seeing as So Human is nothing like much of the rest of her stuff (which has rather obvious reasons for being disliked, but still, how anyone can hate Love Me Or Hate Me is beyond me ), and is VERY 2009 pop...just watch it get loved all of a sudden when it goes top ten in April! I didn't say I disliked it, it's just entered my chart :w00t: but I have noticed that other people have said that they don't like her, but maybe haven't heard this song which is head and shoulders above her usual awful output I still don't like her voice, and whilst I love the music and the whole feel of the track, I can't help but wish that it was sung by somebody else :(

I don't always have to find an unknown artist, Maria Haukaas Storeng was hardly unknown and I would quite happily go back to Delta Goodrem or Natasha Bedingfield...I just like to send unknown songs as its no fun sending something that everyone already knows (for me personally at least) I can see this argument has one major flaw in that I sent the hugely successful Glorious by Andreas Johnson to BJSCIII but my views on what makes a good BJSC entry have changed dramatically since the early contests, I gave Say You'll Be There 12 points in BJSCI for christ sake

When I first joined I didn't see 'cheap' and 'unknown' entries but as I've grown into the contest I've understood what is and what isn't a potential BJ entry. I'd never give Say You'll Be There 12 points though )not becuase it's cheap just because it's awful)- very disappointing Rich -_-

February 7, 200916 yr Which Tegan and Sara song? I adore Back In Your Head, but I'm not as crazy over their other one (Walking With a Ghost). Would still get points, but Back In Your Head would get far higher. Lawlz. Yeah I like to do well I guess? I mean I like tons of songs, but I enter stuff in here that I think has potential to do well. ;P No point in entering something I know will flop miserably. Though I do like a bit of a risk. I just can't find anything that kinda fullfills that roll so my entry choices are a bit cheaper this time around. And for those who want to snap up Calvin Harris (and there are a fewwww), I probably won't be doing it till much much later. I haven't even decided on Lady Sovereign yet tbh because there is unfortunate backlash against it for pointless reasons tbh. :/ WE SHALL SEE. It's "Back In Your Head". I get the feeling I should send a remix of some sorts, maybe the Josh Harris or Morgan Page edits. It's great in it's normal version but I feel like it could be better in a remix form, I just have so many to pick between. Maybe I'm just being stupid, just from reserving them I'ev already found two people who like the song as it is... Who is having a backlash against Lady Sov? I think it's one of the most obvious must-send entries this month. (though I probably wouldn't send her if you ditched her this contest ) I think it seems like an obvious top 3 finish, probably too love/hate to get a win like I previously thought it would. I learnt as early as II ballad = flop That's a shame really, I'd have loved to send a live ballad by Beverley Knight to contrast "Black Butta" but it rarely seems to work. :( Edited February 7, 200916 yr by Aaron™
February 7, 200916 yr I learnt as early as II ballad = flop which is why I'm not sending Marquess feat Lene Marlin's All Gone, a brilliant ballad that I currently love having said that, Gomenasai didn't fare too badly did it :heehee:
February 7, 200916 yr which is why I'm not sending Marquess feat Lene Marlin's All Gone, a brilliant ballad that I currently love having said that, Gomenasai didn't fare too badly did it :heehee: i sent one and finished 21st :( i'll try again soon however, mind you, breathe slow did well in XIII
February 7, 200916 yr i sent one and finished 21st :( i'll try again soon however, mind you, breathe slow did well in XIII I have only sent two proper ballads, Sibel's Make Believe, which came 8th, and Natasha Bedingfield's Stumble which was 17th or 18th
February 7, 200916 yr mind made up Peter :P Country: FSR Rontvia Artist: Uh Huh Her Song: Not A Love Song Youtube Link:
February 7, 200916 yr :kink: and i voted for both  thank you very much  Ashton's support really is massively appreciated :cheer:
February 7, 200916 yr I'm sure that people will still be able to differentiate between the spin-offs (where cheapness is welcome) and the normal contest I just don't get what possible benefit can come from sending such a cheap song, even if it did win (which they never do), what sense of pride would you have by sending a song that is new to nobody, and you know that nobody had been introduced to your song via the competition...I mean who honestly hadn't heard Breathe Slow before it came 7th in last month's final I'd rather come last with an unknown song that scored 30 points from 6 or 7 different members than come 1st with a super cheap song that everyone will have already heard by this time last month like Taylor Swift or Calvin Harris...for me the best thing about doing well is knowing that the chances are, most people wouldn't have heard of that song had you not sent it in your case, Nonsuch have introduced me to fantastic songs such as Lonely (Are You Coming Home), When Did I Become Such A Bitch and Into The Nightlife, so why ruin that brilliant reputation by sending Halo that 90% of people on here will have already heard!?! if this contest goes down the cheap route this month, and all of the cheap entries come top 5 then I will seriously question what the point of this competition continuing would be ME :o The cheapness genie never went away. Very early BJSC was cheap as hell, then again we were all learning about the contest. Britney wouldn't win a contest now, but she won the first contest. The contest has changed quite a bit, i quite honestly think a cheap song won't win again. Unless it is rather epic. As new people enter you are always going to have a mix that changes. Some countries are cheap to their core *coughalleciancough* others are far removed from cheapness and send some high high quality unknown songs, FSR Rontvia, Kopecka and Mdice being good examples. Then there are some who send a healthy mix such as Myself, KoS etc. etc. etc. This is what makes the contest imo. You can't eradicate the cheap songs completely because what one person sees as cheap is not necessarily the same as what another sees as cheap, there are of course the highly obvious exceptions, eg: Lady GaGa, Sugababes, Britney, GA, Lily Allen........ *cough* ;_; How much are Eledan far from the 'high'? :( I learnt as early as II ballad = flop -_- I knew i should have sent Maria Mena's Belly Up instead of Just Hold Me :( which is why I'm not sending Marquess feat Lene Marlin's All Gone, a brilliant ballad that I currently love having said that, Gomenasai didn't fare too badly did it :heehee: :heehee: tATu are the fair exception :D Edited February 7, 200916 yr by Pavel
February 7, 200916 yr thank you very much  Ashton's support really is massively appreciated :cheer: never a problem. I'm sure it must be a BJSC record. Should have given points in III then it would be a record lol
February 7, 200916 yr never a problem. I'm sure it must be a BJSC record. Should have given points in III then it would be a record lol if only Vincent and Mira had made the finals  rest assured I love Ashton too :cheer:
February 7, 200916 yr it does make sense Jonjo, I gave Alesha a 9/10 rating but gave her no points as she instantly came bottom of my 9/10 pack for being cheap and as i had 13 songs which I rated at least 9/10 she fell to 13th in my ranking by default I didn't mention Lady Sovereign as being cheap because I'm aware that she is quite disliked on here, I'm talking more about Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift in particular and quite inevitably, The Veronicas I understand why some people think Calvin Harris may be cheap, but it IS a dance song sung by a male which cancels out some of the cheapness. I don't think it'll be massively huge either. although I was all for a #10's contest initially, I have to agree  maybe I should have voted for foreign songs as my choice after all  although I have literally just found the perfect song for that contest whenever it may happen! Same :P Yeah i wanted a foreign language spinoff too. I've just realised i've been subconciously thinking ( :P) that i wouldn't enter the #10's partly because i've heard a lot of them. ME :o You're an exception Pavel, you're Russian :heehee: Anyway, i have a list of songs and i can't find one that i reckon has more than a 50% chance of making the final, though all are pretty unknown.
February 7, 200916 yr Can I reserve Sandi Thom please :P? And Velvet :) Edited February 7, 200916 yr by nickthenoodle
