February 1, 200916 yr Your best entry (imo) was 2005. :kink: I don't remember the one  edit: Oh... so deserved to win as well as Malta in 2007  (irony) Edited February 1, 200916 yr by Pavel
February 1, 200916 yr jade annoyed me with the crying she was like alexandra on x factor, still i really think the UK will do well this year
February 1, 200916 yr Not mad about it, she just repeats "It's my time" over and over again. Hardly amazing lyrics. She has a great strong voice but the song goes absolutly nowhere...... I actually prefer Scooch - Fly the flag.....and I didn't really like that song either. Who knows "It's my time" might grow on me, but I'm very underwhelmed by it now. :( All that said though, it's still miles better than even if :heehee: Edited February 1, 200916 yr by Sabrewulf238
February 1, 200916 yr The repeating of its my time lyric stays in the head and for me thats what makes its kinda catchy and im sure thats prob what they want, the song to stay in people's head,,,i have liked all the recent uk entries over the last fe years and probably out of the previous 10 years imanni and andy abraham are the only 2 i didnt likehowever i really thought andy's was terrible
February 2, 200916 yr I don't remember the one  edit: Oh... so deserved to win as well as Malta in 2006  (irony) OMG I meant 2006 - that I Do horrible song :heehee:
February 2, 200916 yr  he only said a couple of days and to be fair performing in Malta isn't really nesessary as they give us points whatever we send! No - it's Ireland that always gives us points. (I think it's more us being their only neighbours - like they are for us - that gave us that many points.)
February 2, 200916 yr I don't know where the Grand final thread is so i'll write here. Well i'm watching the twins version of Its my time and actually they have sung better than everything they've done in the competition overall :o Mark was actually quite poor this week as he's been great throughout the past few weeks. And well done to Jade though because she ain't messed up a single bit. I don't get why she was in the bottom two last week but anyway her and the twins sung this eurovision song greatly but jade who won it deserves it. Amazing voice. However i think the song is great but the lyrics are kinda repetitive and pleading which ruins it but otherwise good song and good winner. Hopefully this will get us back on track this year :D Edited February 2, 200916 yr by Rock N Rolla
February 2, 200916 yr The song is so so bland and I'm not a fan of Jade either, although she definitely should've won out of those 3 finalists. I want Top 15 but can we honestly truly do it? And tbh after all of this effort, anything other than Top 5 seems stupid. If this is what Andrew Lloyd Webber thinks will WIN, what happens next year if it doesn't? Do we just try again? The stops seems to have all been pulled.
February 2, 200916 yr The stops seems to have all been pulled. Not quite - Xenomania much? :P I just hope if this doesn't do as well as people expect people realise that following up a Timbaland-associate produced song (which was actually welcomed a lot by Europe and seen as quite cool) with Andrew Lloyd-Webber IS pulling out all the stop but ultimately a mis-step...
February 2, 200916 yr Definatly our best entry in years (even if i did personally love Touch My Fire) and should do resonably well. Can i just say though that people that say that Jade's reaction to winning annoyed them. Do you not expect her show any emotion, would you have prefered it had she shrugged and gone "oh good".

Well, there is emotion and then over the top ridiculous blubbing. Jade was the latter.
February 2, 200916 yr This sort of ballad that builds up and a very strong female vocalist has won many a Eurovision. Noticed that some people are already comparing it to Swizerland’s 1988 winner. It’s certainly our best entry for more than a decade! One would hope the addition of juries would dilute the neighbourly televoting hence the Eastern blocks unfair grip… If this fails to finish at least top5 then we can safely assume we’ll never win again regardless of the quality of the song we chose to enter and perhaps time for a complete withdrawal or quotas for Eastern European nations.
February 3, 200916 yr This sort of ballad that builds up and a very strong female vocalist has won many a Eurovision. Noticed that some people are already comparing it to Swizerland’s 1988 winner. Who the hell compared it to that? Jade is good, but she's no Celine...
February 3, 200916 yr I think the song sounds a bit like a big emotional number from Starlight Express or something :P. Still, that's not the final arrangment, hopefully the big song writing names and great vocalist will secure the UK a decent finishing position :D
February 3, 200916 yr I wonder if the juries have been bought to give the big 4 some points? We all know that everyone, especially the big4 are expecting big changes with the votes, so I wonder if they had to guarantee them some points to prove everyone that "see, now the votes are fair and eurovision is back again"...

While I appreciate you've done more than some and not claimed it's all political, I would like to know what you think about western neighbourly voting, or is it not an issue merely because we don't seem to have the rest of Europe voting for our songs as well - surely an indicator that the East is sending some quality stuff? :P Give this thread a read and tell me what you think - all responses welcome! ^_^ http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61463 And how on earth can you safely assume if this X-Factor winning song reminiscent song fails to finish top five that we won't win again? As I said earlier, I have no doubt that if we sent Jade with a Xenomania production - or something more upbeat and modern, a la Shady Lady last year, that we would likely do far, far better...yes, we may be taking it more seriously by having Lloyd-Webber on board, but people who think that just because he's on board he should get us a great result severely misunderstand the kind of thing that does well at this contest - a slice of catchy, modern pop of the sort often seen in the UK charts would get us a good result, especially with someone as obviously talented as Jade. While I am trying my best to like this song (and will reserve my final judgement until I hear the studio version in a few weeks), I can't help but feel that Jade may be a tad wasted

Mind you, it would improve the ALW production no end!
February 3, 200916 yr I am not sure Xenomania would do well, Trash - GA aren't that well known in Europe and I am not sure that a production of that style would necessarily do well. Mind you, it would improve the ALW production no end! Not necessarily for the GA connection - moreso for the modern pop connection. A production of that style would easily do well - look at last year's top five! Modern pop ruled supreme - Dima Bilan had Timbaland's associate Jim Beanz, Shady Lady was extravagantly modern energetic disco pop (of the sort I'd expect from a Xeno/Jade collab), and Kalomoira wouldn't have been out of place in the Billboard Hot 100 - or the UK charts for that matter  Sirusho went with the tried and tested formula of mixing ethnic sounds with modern pop, but it's a tad hit and miss as to whether Maria would still do well this year...it all depends whether classy retro-soul pop was just a very 2008 thing or not! :P
