Official remixes have been comissioned by the likes of GoldieLocks and The Golden Filter suggesting that a proper release of 'New In Town' may be on the way soon...

This is really good but they shouldn't have released "Stuck On Repeat" for free and gone for that, it's the best song I've heard from her.
Good news. She's playing in Middlesbrough in March :w00t:

yeh I know, can't wait!

I thought Meddle was the free single of the week.

I really hope the album leaks too. Her remix of VV Brown's Leave is nothing short of stunning.

Maybe it was at one point but "Stuck On Repeat" definitely was, it was posted on here in about 50 different places.

I haven't heard the full remix, but the clip on VV's Myspace makes it sound more like a creative cover version than a remix.

edit: oops double post

My new Personal Chart #1

Little Boots - New In Town

In short the best single I have of 2009 so far IMHO. It sounds like a cross between Goldfrapp, Ladytron & Sophie Ellis-Bextor with a killer verse and a killer chorus to match.

It's very good! I wouldn't say it's a patch on 'Stuck On Repeat' but it's a very good first proper single, it should do well.

I disagree as it samples Giorgio Moroder's synth bed from Donna Summer's I Feel Love, hence it loses a hell of a lot of originality as a result because comparing Stuck On Repeat with I Feel Love is like comparing Accrington Stanley with Manchester United IMHO.

Hmm not too keen on first listen. Love the verse but not too keen on the chorus tbh...

Love the artwork though, Little Boots' artwork is always great

Yeah, where "Stuck On Repeat" is Manchester United. The sample isn't even that noticeable since it's been reworked enough to sound better. "I Feel Love" is camp, cheesy Disco with Donna howling over the backing track, Little Boots makes it listenable.

I think "New In Town" is now my second favourite Little Boots song, behind"Stuck On Repeat", though I think her duet with Philip Oakley has potential to become another favourite of mine when I hear it in full. I agree that there are bits of Goldfrapp in this, but I think that's mostly her voice, she sounds similar to Alison at times.

Hmmm... it's good, but I don't think it's my favourite of 2009. It's got potential to grow, but chart-wise I'm not sure whether it'll be a success or a flop...

Are you stark raving bonkers?

The I Feel Love riff is the musical bed of the track; and quite frankly the melody of Stuck On Repeat (which actually heavily nicks a bit of Donna Summer's Once Upon A Time for good measure) is nowhere near the greatness of one of the most important tracks in musical history ..... ever.

From Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs of the Rock N Roll era:

Ranked #41:

"This song is the first disco-style song recorded with an entirely synthesized backing track, and has been enormously influential in the development of disco, electronica, house and techno thanks to Giorgio Moroder's innovative production. In particular, the song popularised the insistent, robotic bass line, which has been frequently imitated ever since."

"One day in Berlin ... Eno came running in and said, 'I have heard the sound of the future.' … he puts on 'I Feel Love', by Donna Summer … He said, 'This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next twenty five years.' Which was more or less right" (© David Bowie 2003).

Whilst the song I Feel Love has been covered by the likes of Blondie; Bronski Beat; Balaam & The Angel; Curve; Vanessa Mae & Love Inc; Red Hot Chili Peppers & Koda Kumi.

Whilst the pivotal synth bassline has been sampled on tracks by U2; Underworld; Mousse T; Cher; Kylie Minogue as well as now Little Boots.

Just listened to New In Town. The melody is very reminiscent of Franz Ferdinand for me...it sounds like they something might do. I quite like it.
I really like this song, and prefer it to "Stuck On Repeat." Anyone who thinks "I Feel Love" is simply just camp, cheesy dance pop can't imagine themselves in that era when nothing like that had ever been heard before. It's callous and shortsighted to dismiss it as such.
