You would be surprised with the amount of $h!t i deal with every day..

You may have been through a lot, but the very fact you ARE able to get up in the morning and haven't needed medical help means you are not as bad off as people are just incapable of doing that. So before you embarrass yourself even more, shut up and start showing some class.

Back to the topic... I am in agreement with many people that benefits should maybe be rethought (obviously with the exceptions of people with legitimate medical/psychological reasons). Maybe it should be different for these chavs who have kids, who obviously can't be held accountable for their parents' f***-ups, but otherwise, for people without kids and who just can't be bothered getting a job (and don't have a reason), I do think pretty much to hell with them tbh.

Its not that i dont need it.. Its that i WONT have it... Two different things... I have had medical help in the past but it came to the point where i nearly tried to kill myself that i said no... Ok? People on here know that ive written some dark things before (and im not writing this for attention or sympathy), and ive been to social services, phsyciatrist, about 2/3 different anti-depression pills... So dont you, who i barely even see, start judging me...

Wow i was able to say that without swearing... Quite proud of myself

I never was judging you, I don't know what you've been through, nor do I frankly care. But that doesn't change the fact that if you are capable of getting up in the morning and getting through the day, then you ARE more fortunate than people out there who just can't do this, of which the poster you were attacking is apparently one - which makes what you were saying totally disrespectful.

Im sorry but can you not see a loop hole in the person you are defending? Ok so he claims to be unable to go out and work but he can get up and post on a forum... Right...

Ok sure the distance/effort may be greater but if you have it within your self to get up and post on a forum for nearly 2 years...

Lol, using the Internet obviously takes up a lot less energy than working everyday.

But anyway, I've made my point and I don't really care enough to get into a full argument about this, so that's probably where I'm leaving it.

To alot of the comments on here,

I'd even go as far to say that the majority of the time, benefits shouldn't be handed out to people with children! It's common sense, if you're struggling with your own life, then don't bring another life into it which is going to cost you even more. Benefits, it's like giving someone money because they've brought a nice dress that they know they can't afford. There's money that could be spent better elsewhere...

according to Yahoo!7 there is now a ban on media coverage on the story. 'To protect those involved'

Bet the parents are well pissed off. Less money to be made

I'm not defending Chris. I never was. I was just pointing out that your money is being wasted on something far more insane ie. the war in Iraq. Funding sponges should be the least of your worries.

is it? i resent far more going to the local upermarket to see 'shameless mick' (google him) watzing around dressed better then me and with a cart load of food that I pay for through hard work then i do worrying about the war. maybe its because its IN MY FACE.

I object strongly to being called a scrounger. I have Dr.'s notes to say I suffer from depression/nerves and have to attend medicals every two years. I am getting nothing that I'm not entitled to. I would therefore appreciate an apology.

then you should have stated that you were invalided off work and not just 'not worked'.

They are OPINIONS. I am of the opinion that everyone on benefits should get far more. Why is it that the only opinions allowed here are yours and Grimley's? I'm entitled to my opinion just as much as you two are. At least I don't use thinly veiled swear words in every post as Grimley has to do to get his point across!

oh ffs..... WHERES THE FCUKIN MONEY COMING FROM? .... ME !!! ffs, how DARE you suggest that i pay more for serial scroungers to sit on their big fat arses , knocking out kids so ME and people like me... TAXPAYERS, can work harder/take a cut in our hard earned income, to pay for it! FCUK OFF! is it any wonder that we resort to swearing at such OFFENSIVE suggestions made by a non taxpayer.

your opinions are like kids... they are just trite one liners with no obvious thought behind them.

BOG OFF WITH THAT. I suffer from depression and yes i do skip school because of it, but i still make the effort to get up every morning and go to school and deal with whatever $h!t is chucked at me... And i REFUSE medical help... And attending medicals every two years aint stopping you from working the other 364 days (This is assuming the medical takes 1 day) of the year...

So if i were you i would get up and go to the job centre or create a CV and go looking around... If a bloody 16 year old can do it (me) then im sure your more than capable...

Dont use the old "qualifications" excuse cos if you did leave school at 16 then you have an equal amount of qualifications as me (Again, assuming that you passed your GCSEs)

ABSOLUTELY! depression appears to be a state of mind and well done for NOT ACCEPTING the condition and fighting it. you will go far in life m8 with your attitude :)

he didnt accept his condition, he fought against it instead of rolling over and accepting defeat.

lifes made up of winners and losers... those who take control of their lives and those who just accept their condition/situation.

oh here we go again....

ANYBODY has the right to express an opinion, but this is a debating forum, so when you post an opinion you must be prepared to back it up with reasoned thought. YOU DONT. you just post pretty childish one line comments that you NEVER support. hence you WILL get challenged.

It wasn't "in your face" when 52 people were killed and 700 injured in London because of the UK's involvement in the Iraq war?

Depression isn't as black and white as some of you think it is. It's different for every single person. Just because one person can get up and work doesn't mean everybody else can. And I don't think anybody was judging you Joao, but you all seemed to judge Chris pretty quickly.

The social welfare system should be changed. It should be for people who have been made jobless by employers and for people who have added disadvantages when getting a job, ie. depression, chronic illnesses etc. Chavs and wasters should be made do paid community service to keep them busy and make a difference to the community.

Dont you DARE tell ME what i have and HAVE NOT been through... Dont you DARE tell me that i dont know what im talking about because i have probably have more life experience on my left arm than you do in your whole body... You might be older might think you know more but dont you think about telling me what i have and have not been through..

Dont call me young either -_- As if your looking down on me, Cos at least I as a 16 year old still go out and support my family in every way possible

Anyway, im not gonna compete with you about my life, i may be 16 doesnt mean i act like every other 16 year old...

Well done Joao.... And spot on as well... Plenty of people have mental illnesses, clinical depression, disabilities, etc, and can function perfectly well, study, go to uni, hold down a job (part-time, working from home, self-employed....), etc.... tbh, I think Chris is just making excuses..... And age is certainly no barrier to education either... I know people well into their 40s and 50s studying full-time degrees, and I work with students who are disabled, they're getting out there, doing for themselves, empowering themselves....

no...im in derby not london, it was splashed all over the media, quite rightly, but it just aint the same.. besides the concept that 'your taxes go to fund a war' does NOT mean we can carry on giving money to scroungers.

of course its different for different people .... as ive said, lifes made up of winners and losers, its about how you play the hand you are dealt more then what you have been dealt. chris gets harshly judged because he has a history of posting wild claims, outlandish opinions, without backing them up with reasoned thought. its ok having the opinion that "benefits should go up, people should get more" without considering exactly where the money would come from .... and that assuming the benefits system DOES need more money. many here are of the opinion that benefits should be cut, severely, because working people are sick and tired of paying taxes to fund their scummy lifestyle.

many of us workers would be better off on benefits... hows that right? how come many workers get less money for working then what they would if they scrounged? and crazy chris (possibly the most apt username ever!) thinks they should get more! if you or he cant see the offence that brings to us taxpayers then you are pretty dumb!

Exactly... And when you look at the facts that these little chav scumbags like Alfie and Chantelle are at some point going to be receiving various benefits totalling almost 30k a year (which is more than teachers, nurses, armed forces personnel and admin/office staff get...) then, I'm sorry, but I think it's totally an utterly warranted for us to say WHAT THE FUKK??????? ARE YOU HAVING A LAUGH??????

For the likes of Chris to somehow defend this is frankly ridiculous, and to be honest, it actually seems to me like being in the position himself of receiving benefits, he's kind of gloating in a way at us workers who fund his lifestyle....

How do you pay for your internet access at home?

That's why the child should be taken away from them and given to foster parents who can afford to look a baby. Alfie and Chantelle parents shouldn't be allowed to look after the baby because they have just proved that they can't take care of their own kids. I'm sure Alfie and Chantelle are hoping to spend time with their mates and dump the baby on to their parents.

Oooh a mention of Mick Philpotts... Oh dear. Now there's someone I'd happily see put down a peg or two. No job, a wife AND a girlfriend and about 16 kids, living in a 4(atleast) bedroom house all paid for by the taxpayer. Scum, absolute scum!

Her bf would've not used a condom then? :o

Aren't you the one who wants the collapse of capitalism? How ironic then that you assume someone who's one of life's "losers" is that way because of a character defect, one of the most capitalistic notions possible...

Anyway, I'm not getting into an argument about whether or not someone who has clinical depression has control of themselves, because it's been proven that they don't. You kind of lose credibility when you start arguing against solid scientific fact lol.
