Kath you're sales are wrong.

GA have the most up to date sales of Singles:3.24 million and Albums: 3.45 million, Total: 6.69 million

Sugababes have a lot of songs out of date sales but a MW in October i think it was said Sugababes single sales were at 3.1 million and most up to date albums were 4.13 million, Total: 7.23 million.

omg please keep GA vs sugababes out of this, i am so sick of the battles between the two on here. Dont you ever get bored of listening to yourselves talk the same load of crap? Its been done a hundred times or more already.

Sorry, but i couldnt give a s**t how many albums the sugababes sold in 2003 with a different line up or whatever, this thread is about a brand new GA 2009 single and its potential success.

As for the single, i have to say, this song has a good chance of top 10 but also could easily miss top 10. For someone to say "give me a reason why it will miss top 10?" - what a stupid question, its the 3rd release and their 2nd single only made no10. Look at it another way, count how many 3rd or 4th singles from on album are currently top 10. I'm guessing none?

Every GA thread on here has the same pointless arguments, there really is no way of avoiding it...

Now that you mention it..."Dead and Gone" is technically the 3rd single but the first single wasn't a hit and I'm not sure what the circumstances of it's release were and "Halo" is set to be top 10 this week. But GA have sold more albums than the two mentioned artists here.

But you see what i mean that a lot of acts do miss top ten when their 1st and 2nd singles have been quite big. Katy perry for example. And i have a feeling britney and pink will go the same. Take that probably will (if they do a 3rd)

I just simply can't believe it wherever I turn, I see a Girls Aloud versus whoever, can we not turn every chart thread into a Girls Aloud versus ......... (fill in the blanks for your favourite artist) -_-

Yeh but can i point out, thats because a lot of people have it in for GA as opposed to GA fans wanting to argue with everyone <_<

Jealousy ya see ^_^

Yes, this is what I've been trying to say. In general you can have a huge album or huge singles these days. Alesha, The Saturdays, Lady GaGa and Katy Perry (initially) have all had two fairly successful singles because the albums didn't shift so much at first. Girls Aloud, P!nk and Take That have had disappointing peaks for their second singles after the first went to #1 and the albums sold loads. The exception being Kings Of Leon by having a HUGE album and first two singles. (though the third didn't do much)

Yep, i agree. The industry has changed so much : (

LOL @ Katherine's little made up points scheme.

Did you even read my ESSAYS of explanation to my opinion? Clearly no. PCD-Whatcha Think About That, Saturdays-Issues, Oasis-Falling Down, to name few all 3rd singles which recently made top 10 and in 2 cases outpeaking both first and second singles. Just READ my posts on the previous page before just labelling my opinion as stupid when it clearly isnt because you probably only read one line of all my posts on the previous page ..

It's not about "Points", it's about SALES! So isn't that kinda pointless? If not, then we're all f***ed, seeing as Westlife have had so many number 1's!

No need to Bitchfest, if you READ, I quoted Coolnav and the points were just another way of proving GA were more successful than the Sugas AND I MADE A SALES COMPARISON.

SERIOUSLY PEOPLE LEARN TO READ :o

Making this post in order to get a juicy, bitch from Kath obvs.

You really can't base this on TLK, many times have 3rd GA singles done better than the 2nd and in some cases the 1st! Even PCD, WTAT outpeaked the 'stunning' IHTP. Also Untouchable is much more commercial and suited for success than TLK would be, their upbeat song most of the time always do better than the slow ballads. I mean 'Whole Lotta History' etc are TLK-related. Where 'Untouchable' fits into the 'Sexy No No, The Show, Something Kinda Ooooh' sort-of categories.

Many times = 1? :heehee: And that was a charity single? This one is not?

WELL. I don't think it will be that successful but it quite obviouslly has a good chance of top 5 charting success AND if one more person says its not going to go top 10 could you PLEASE comprehend what seems to be minimal mentality with a sufficient reason to why it won't be successful? Because noone is yet to even come up with understandable or intelligent idea to why it wont go top 10, imaturity yes?

I do and i'm sure most others do too. When was the last time a 3rd single has gone top 5 following a #1 single that has sold over 400k, with an album that has sold bucketloads compared to previous albums?

Oh and what Aaron said below :smoke:.

STILL LOVE YA

Wow this thread has kept me entertained for the last 10 minutes or so :P Still thinking its gonna be around 12-14 though :)

Kath, both PCD and sats have had quite bad album sales.

Can you not understand this simple concept - low album sales means not many people have the songs on your album and so when a new single is released, not many people have that song because they dont have the album with it on so they download the song seperately. Its...............easy!

Doing well with a 3rd or 4th single is actually a sign that your earlier chart success was pretty poor actually.

But in that case ''Untouchable'' is a slightly different story, the song's been radio mixed and now sounds vastly different to the original. The release would be like a brand new song altogether and not a album track turned single, would it not?

Being a GA release i think this will go top10. With any justice it'll go to about 6/7.

Even if it stalls just outside at the first week there are enough loons to ensure it's top10 by sunday.

That having been said i will be downloading the radio edit coz it's  This the the 2nd GA album in a row where i have pure arse rapped the 3rd single after disliking the previous 2. (Hate - CTS, TP. Grew slightly but is still pretty crap - S!NNN, tis ok but not spectacular - TLK).

And to compare this Mid/Slightly Quick Tempo track to SKO/S!NNN you'd have to be deaf. They were both fast tempo songs, the speed of the lyrics and pace of the backing track tells you that. As does the presance of a Bass Beat. Which is rather important for club play as it is what many people actually time themselves to. Quicker bass beat tends to mean quicker dancing. But there are of course exceptions.

(See The Day was a charity single, hence the outpeaking of singles 1 and 2.)

now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to put the Radio Edit of SKO's Flip and Fill remix on repeat. imo the best GA song/remix.

I think this is not bad but I prefer The Loving Kind. I think with a better promo it can just go inside the top 10 otherwise it will be just outside around number 12-14.

''See The Day'' didn't outpeak singles one and two, it peaked at #9 where ''Long Hot Summer'' and ''Biology'' peaked at #7 and #4 respectively, but then STD's release was a complete mess-up and clashed with Biology's release and the same with TLK and it's too-early promo. So I completely agree with you Phil :) , this will go top 10 but it just depends on if the promo slips up or not. Where everyone else has the unrealistic 'TLK only scraped top 10 so how on earth can Untouchable make top 10'. It's a completely different ball game, and as I've said a dozen times before singles these are not THAT predictable and neither is the music industry tbh, so basing Untouchable's to-be performance on TLK is totally the wrong concept. It all just depends on how much promo they do, how effective the promo is and the overall public response to the single - from which you can predict where it'll chart, top 3, 5, 10 or 15.
