the video has one star

epic fail.

Nice song.

I like Fightstar. I'm not sure why, I just do. They get a lot of stick, and I can see why they get it, as normally it's from metal fans, and they are trying to crate that sort of music but with the singles they epically fail. I'm not sure what's up with the record company, but they do seem to be trying to turn them into an alternative music style Busted. On their albums they have a LOT heavier songs on them compared to the singles, which generally are sort of pop-rock tunes.

their singles do well on the rock chart; which is their main audience, so...

i like their stuff.

The video is so good btw.

Quite simple, but very effective. Possibly my favourite video of 09 so far. :o

I really do like Fightstar. It's wrong but meh their songs are good and this has a very different sound to their usual stuff. Me likey <3

Fightstar are a "safe", "nice" Metal band for the kiddies really... Mums and dads can let little Rupert and Jemima go off to see Fightstar in concert because it's that "nice lad from Busted, not that horrible, noisy, Slipknot stuff with the scary masks..".

Frankly, their "grunge-lite" bores the sh"t out of me..... Yeah, okay, Charlie you listened to a few Nirvana and Therapy? records, but you really just didn't get the point did you.....?

Ash did this sort of thing SOOOOOOOO much better.....

That's why I don't like Fighstar tbh, the whole grunge thing they try to do?, just doesn't work.

What I think you generally find with bands like these though, is this is the beginning of people expanding their music tastes. Although Fightstar aren't what you'd call 'metal', I think a lot of the 'kiddies' as you put them sort of develop their music taste by looking into the metal genre from this band. I did it a lot with the pop-indie stuff, and from that I found 'less mainstream', or well I was proper into them before everyone else got on the arse rape train at least.

Like I said before I really like Fightstar. I'm not into heavy metal stuff really, and I have listened to it before, but I prefer much watered down stuff (like Fightstar for example). Their albu,s are suprisingly good and different.

With Fightstar though I always think there are two questions that need to be posed;

Would they get as much stick if Charlie wasn't in the band? Probably not.

Would they be as famous as they are if Charlie wasn't in the band? Probably not.

You've obviously not read the things I've posted about the likes of Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance or Fall Out Boy..... I cant stand them either..... Kath or Chris will vouch for that one.... ;)

I think Fightstar are basically a metal band for people who dont like Metal (nope not a mistake, I meant the first 'metal' to be lowere case...), I dont buy that they're a "gateway" band at all... Slipknot are, absolutely... They pretty much encourage their fans to go and listen to the more extreme stuff, and the quality of the bands they tour with - Slayer, Machine Head, Children of Bodom, the really HEAVY guys - proves that. I dont think Fightstar fans are expanding their tastes at all, because there's little, if any follow-on... I dont really class Fightstar as being metal at all, alternative at best IMO...

What annoys me about Charlie is the fact that he paraded around pretending to be this pop star, when his heart lay in more 'heavy' music... Why...? Doesn't really say much about his commitment to his music.... Sounds a tad cynical if anything.... He was in Busted for years, then all of a sudden it's like "hey, these other heavier guys like Slipknot, HIM, Manson, MCR, and Evanescence are getting all popular and stuff, so maybe I can crank up the amps again...". Slight case of bandwagon jumping really.... Yes, you'll probably say that Busted was a "means to an end", but I dont really buy it... I'm still not really 100% sure if he was faking then with Busted, or faking now with Fightstar, but it's really rather irrelevant, Charlie IS a big, fat fake at one stage or the other....

Nice song.

Well they actually left Island Records because they didn't want to comprimise as they basically wanted them to make an album that sounds like Fall Out Boy  So with the last album I wasn't expecting anything commercial at all but '99' was quite a commercial song imo, I'm just glad that Charlie isn't scared to write songs with choruses anymore like he once was but as I said it's not like what Fightstar are doing isn't uncommercial or anything which is strange.

Scott: Trust me, he was a fake with Busted, he only joined them to get out of doing more education and considering he was always wearing Sonic Youth t-shirts and all that. I saw Fightstar about a year before everyone knew he was in them while Busted were still around and he was actually willing to be in both bands (Busted were going to take a nine month break and he was going to release the Fightstar EP) but James wanted him to choose between one or the other so he chose to leave Busted.

They're part of the cycle that got me gradually into heavier music as when I got into them they got me into stuff like Funeral For A Friend and Bullet For My Valentine then I went to Uni I started to like the likes of 36 Crazyfists, Metallica and Iron Maiden and without him I'm sure I would have gotten into them and yes I was a HUGE Busted fan, please don't pelt with stones. :(
