I've only ever bought one too! I bought Leona 'Better In Time'/'Footprints' last year (£3.99!!!! :drama:) and was SHOCKED to read inside that only "an ESTIMATED () 77p" of it actually went to Sport Relief.

And just think - if you buy a Red Nose costing £1, at least 70p of it goes to Comic Relief. (A hell of a lot more than the 34% - or whatever - that Hero gave. Especially when you consider that - I believe - all the profits for the poppies goes to the Poppy Appeal.)

Better In Time is a fantastic song though
It sure is  Always been my favourite Leona Song.

But I bought it (I had it on the album already) coz I wanted to support Comic Relief and if I like the song, then I'll buy it... but 77p from £3.99 is DIRE!! That's NOTHING! If i'd have known beforehand, I don't think I would have bought it... Coz I already had the song on her album...

CDC T20. ^_^

Where is Alesha Dixon's 'TBDN'?

Hopefully as far from the Top 120 as possible...

It's #49

I do see where you're coming from, donating straight to the cause on the night would be a little better (unless you bought 50 singles) but 77p isnt nothing - it actually saves a life.
I think everyone should go and buy a hilarious album by The Lonely Island entitled Incredibad. It's actually not just an album full of comedy songs there is about 5 actually good songs worthy of a top 5 placing.
Nobody is a sheep, people buy what they want to buy, i didn't buy the Hero song as i hate what x-factor represents, although it's funny to watch the auditions and i plan to do a comedy audition this year, but as you can buy Poppies for what you want, i dont think that they would have lost money as it would have been the poorer people who would have got the song and not the Poppy. I don't think i've explained the last bit very well so i apologize if you don't get it.

The poppy sellers were passing back feedback saying that especially younger people & housewives were saying "sorry I'm not buying a poppy this year as I've bought the X Factor Finalists single".

As 23% of money buying the physical & 37% of the digital went to the same cause that received 85% of all poppy sales it does not take a great mathematician to work out why the British Legions' Help The Heroes campaign which provides for wounded servicemen and women made less money in 2008 despite more revenue being spent.

I disagree as a far greater proportion of that money will go directly to the cause of Comic Relief then buying a mediocre cover (at least it is not tear your ears off in horror as bad as the GA/SB the worst thing either act has ever or will ever do car crash single) of a mediocre Depeche Mode song in the first place.

Although the 9 celebs are taking the scenic lengthy route up instead of the quick 3 days up & down the mountain.... Although it would be so much better if the likes of Chris Moyles; Ronan Keating; Cheryl Cole; Gary Barlow etc got so far when confronted with this situation:

:D

Actually every pound donated to the climb is going 100% to Comic Relief. What I mean is ... I'm probably being a bit of a hypocrite as although I'm a bit sceptical of people buying charity songs - if it wasn't for the involvement of Barlow and Shephard - I probably wouldn't be donating via this route.

Having said that ... they are all providing excellent entertainment via satellite calls, podcasts, and the tv doc next week - can't wait to see how they tackle Alesha falling off the potty and half way down the hill when she went for a wee!

Norma

PS - actually on the Poppy front - I actually gave more this year for my poppy in protest at the awful X-Factor song!

They only that high to get money back from the music video they filmed. :arrr:

LOL, that's the reason 66% comes from the record label. :D

And the fact (clearly) The Sats video is done on a shoe-string budget. Less can be said about the 'comedic' Nessa and Bryn 'Islands In The Stream' video.

What this is really about is you being bitter that there is competition for one of your favourite acts, you always do it and you wouldn't be so riled otherwise.

What are you on about? I always do it? Im not bitter, im just stating a fact no need to jump on my back. Dear me...

I'm talking about why you're generally on your high horse about this matter. You would not be as bothered about this if it wasn't "competition" for The Saturdays, you can't deny it...

I do like The Saturdays yes, but i believe any charity single should go to number 1. Thats the point - to sell as many records as possible.

I dont particulary find the comedy single funny (and i love Gavin and Stacy) but i shall buy it as my contribution along with a donation on the night.

does anybody have the pop bars please?

says trying to change conversation.

I'm gonna change the conversation as well. :P

Why 'Time to Pretend' is explicit? Is it because of the drugs mentioned in the song.
