Commentary

VV Brown gets a second week at number #1 despite amazingly tough competition from both Amy Studt and The Saturdays. My original plan was to put Amy at #1 this week but I just don’t think I’ve listened to it as much as I would with other #1’s. This was also the last possible week for either Leave or Nice Boys to reach the top 10 since next week sees The Saturdays go physically plus the actual Comic Relief day is next week aswell. Kelly Clarkson moves down to #4 this week with My Life Would Suck whilst The Veronicas stay put at #5 with Untouched, another possible future #1 on my chart after The Sats have had their run. Outside the top 5 Katy Perry and Beyonce swap places, giving Halo a new peak of #6, Halo which is my personal favourite of Beyonce’s entire career to date is another possible future chart topper for me. Jennifer Hudson reaches the top 10 this week with second single If This Isn’t Love, whilst unlikely to beat the #3 set by Spotlight, it should reach the top 5 and perhaps equal Spotlight. Climbing an impressive 18 places Enrique & Ciara land in the top 10 this week Takin Back My Love is an absolute gem and probably the best record either artist has either made. #10 is a non-mover this week for Darin & Kat DeLuna’s Breathing Your Love, which sounds strikingly similar to Enrique and Ciara aswell. Agnes and Shontelle become this week’s top 10 dropouts, Agnes only sliding to #11 whilst Shontelle’s slides a rather heavier 7 places to #16. Pink’s third single from Funhouse – Please Don’t Leave Me slides the one place to #11 this week, not to worry though as the songs has weeks to go yet in it’s chart life. High climbs this week for both EliZe and La Roux to #13 and #14, both songs should reach the top 10 in the coming few weeks. September on the other hand seems to have become rather stuck, moving only one place this week to #15 with Cant Get Over, Kat DeLuna is the same as Unstoppable also only climbs the 1 to a new peak of #17. Completing the top 20 are Jessica Mauboy, Girls Aloud and Tinchy Stryder.

After entering last week at #40, Gary Go reaches a great new peak of #22 this week with his gorgeous single Wonderful. Foxy, Lemar and The Ting Tings also climb this week. New entries wise, it’s rather dominated by BJSC entries, the highest of which is Jade Ewan’s Got My $h!t Together at #24, Jade is this year’s Eurovision entry for the UK with It’s My Time (currently at #32) which should rise up now that the studio version has leaked. Other BJSC new entries come from Uh Huh Her, Pet Shop Boys, Amanda Jenssen and The Noisettes. I wouldn’t rule out more of them entering next week either.

Albums wise there’s a fresh new #1 as Kelly Clarkson makes her comeback with All I Ever Wanted. Highlights include My Life Would Suck Without You, I Do Not Hook Up, Already Gone, Don’t Let Me Stop You and Whyyouwannabringmedown.
