March 2, 200916 yr James' time to input, thanks. I really dont think everyone can keep going on like this until we make it perfectly clear what a 'cheap song' even IS. In my opinion, cheap defines songs that are already major hits - so the only song i'd call cheap in this contest is Love Story. Fair enough if opinions differ, but I refuse to accept that because a song is high in the multichart, well loved on buzzjack that this makes it cheap? Surely youre then saying a song loved by Buzzjack = cheap? So by that definition, Agnes was cheap + Margaret Berger too? No, utter crap, of course theyre not cheap - so how can we call any song liked by buzzjack cheap? IMHO (i know im jumping to my own songs defence here) but just because Amy is #27 in the multichart, does not make her cheap. Rihanna is, in theory, a cheap artist, but i dont see how Hatin On The Club is a cheap entry at all - it's a largely unknown song, that leaked quietly with the thread on buzzjack having less than ten replies! Even songs like Lily - Back To The Start and Kelly - Already Gone i dont think are cheap. Yes theyre from major albums - but Kelly's hasnt even been RELEASED yet...heck it only leaked just over a week ago, and the song of Lily's is quite borderline in terms of 'cheapness'.. 'The Fear', yes, that wouldbe a very cheap entry if entered now, but i disagree that BTTS is cheap :/ So, in conclusion, i refuse to take any further part in this ridiculous debate until people decide what a cheap song is. If you disagree with people entering songs that are popular on a forum, then good god this contest is gonna get $h!t... Wow, that's gotta be the lonest essay i've ever written :/

Wow, that's gotta be the lonest essay i've ever written :/ The Fear was thankfully never considered to be cheap at the time. It was just a demo, until mid December Everyone's At It was the rumoured lead single. I most certainly stand up for my VI entry. I wouldn't say Back To The Start is cheap. The album was released barely a week by the time i confirmed the song.
March 2, 200916 yr The song gets popular AFTER partaking in the BJSC and only BECAUSE of the contest... Ms Berger and Agnes would be 'un-employed' without the contest  Already Gone and Back To The Start would have got enormous hype without BJSC... And Amy Studt situation is pretty much a rare event as far as I'm concerned. Janet Jackson - Feedback springs to mind. :o (All are Torchwood entries :o :o)
March 2, 200916 yr A Lily Allen album track get hype???? People would have to use her forum first
March 2, 200916 yr A Lily Allen album track get hype???? People would have to use her forum first   Agree that the word is not that relevant. Anyway it's considered to be the best track off the album by pretty much the majority of BJSC participants. And the discussion on the matter of the song entering the contest is inevitable.

March 2, 200916 yr If anything this contest has a problem not with entries but people voting for their favourite people. That's why I don't really do BJSC anymore. I find it all a monopoly these days.

Wow, that's gotta be the lonest essay i've ever written :/ I don't know...would you try to claim that The Veronicas - Untouched isn't cheap? And I'm not at all trying to claim that being loved by BuzzJack makes a song cheap - otherwise by definition a winning song is cheap, a patently ridiculous point. It is for this reason I do not classify Amy Studt as being cheap :P I think there is a definite grey area when it comes to cheapness - one filled by Lily, Kelly, September, Kelis etc.
March 2, 200916 yr Kelis is cheap. lets be quite honest. It was a reasonably recent hit, that is highly likely to be known by pretty much everyone
March 2, 200916 yr If anything this contest has a problem not with entries but people voting for their favourite people. That's why I don't really do BJSC anymore. I find it all a monopoly these days. These Days? you took part in 2/3 contests :/ And no-one really votes for their favourite person, and they never have done. I'd DNQ everytime if it came down to that.
March 2, 200916 yr Author If anything this contest has a problem not with entries but people voting for their favourite people. That's why I don't really do BJSC anymore. I find it all a monopoly these days. Really? :o I can't say I can think of many examples where that could be proved, aside from a few isolated examples - e.g. Tapatilandia-Eledan, and perhaps Jark-Mikal-James, although in that case I think any vote swapping is more likely to be that they send songs that they introduce each other to...I think it's more an issue of similar music tastes, as I believe in Eurovision ;o
March 2, 200916 yr In that case i fall very foul to it and Rich/You must be my favourite people as you top my voting history. It of course has nothing to do with similar tastes and the fact we've all been involved with BJSC from the get go.

It just so happens that we all tend to swap songs on MSN every now and again so end up loving the same stuff.
March 2, 200916 yr These Days? you took part in 2/3 contests :/ And no-one really votes for their favourite person, and they never have done. I'd DNQ everytime if it came down to that. So what if I took part in 2/3 contests? That doesn't make my opinion any less valid? o_O
March 2, 200916 yr I never said it did. I'm challenging it, seeing as 'these days' would imply that you have been involved for a considerable time and it has become an increasing trend and have much research to back up this claim.
March 2, 200916 yr VERY constructive and well-said. :D Can't add more tbh :o 99.99999% of people (especially fans) usually download the album as soon as it leaks. Already Gone IS cheap on one hand - just look at the charts of BJSC countries' representatives (Jonjo - No.2; Rich - No.22 or so; Jark - No.1; etc etc). But on the other hand it can't be cheap as it is just an album track from un-released yet album :( I'm confused. :( But whether an artist has fans should have nothing to do with it. It's just the same as finding a relatively unknown song, but 4 people who play the game have already heard it and love it. Is that song considered cheap? Should that person not send that song? That's just the same as having a song by a big artist that 3 people love. As far as I'm aware, most of the contestants in this game are not overly fanatical about Kelly. Just because an entry is sang by an established artist, it doesn't have to mean it's cheap. If you find a rare or extremely new song from them, it's rare and new. Just like a newcomer or an unknown artist's would be. In my opinion a lot of people are throwing a strop because their songs didn't qualify. Finding a rare song that you like doesn't necessarily mean other people will like it. I'd bet you that most of the people whose names are on this list would not be there had they qualified or if they have qualified, are pissed because they might lose out to a "cheap" song. It's silly.

I'm against cheapness dominating...
March 2, 200916 yr I've signed and Lily is apparently one of the cheap acts in XIVWell if Rihanna (With a song that probably STILL hasn't been heard before now) is cheap then Lily IS cheap. -_- Before you go off on one & declare war or whatever - NO I don't think your entry is cheap (Just like my entry) I'm just saying it's cheaper than my entry coz it's from a number 1 album, and a decent selling album in the US too, so more people are likely to have heard 'Back to the Start' more than 'Hatin on the Club' which is apparently "Cheap"
