It’s my sad, sad, duty to report (with a wobbly bottom lip) that the SUGABABES are no more. The sweetest things to ever happen to pop are hanging up their sparkly mics for good.

Apparently it’s because their last album, Catfights And Spotlights, only sold around 100,000 copies. The girls, KEISHA BUCHANAN (inset), HEIDI RANGE and AMELLE BERRABAH, have notched up 16 Top Tens, over five million albums and seven Brit Award noms.

A Suga source told me: “They haven’t ruled out getting back together in a year but they’re officially on an indefinite extended break.” But, wait for it...

“...They want to say goodbye to their loyal fans with a farewell tour.” I’ll be playing Overload tonight on full-blast as a tribute to the Babes. I suggest you do the same.

I really hope this isn't true. I can't see it being, since they've been doing promo in Europe recently and have announced festivals for the Summer and stuff... plus why would they not just make the announcement now? Hmm. God, I'd cry if this was true...

With Mutya we all said IT'S UNTRUE and it was true. We have to wait till we get some official news.

But I find it hard to believe, we will see :(

Wait a second, I remember that Dave Berry told us that the babes were recording in America!

I do not believe this at all. It doesn't make sense for them to split up just because their last album was a comercial disaster.

What I think the ladies are doing is taking a short break (which is VERY smart) away from the indsutry and someone over @ their label put the word out that they're splitting up for good just to create a little buzz.

There are many artists (including the best of the best) who go through a dry spell and come back harder, so it definetley wouldn't be because of 'Catfights' if this news is true. If it is, then they are very stupid.

See you in a years time, girls.

This is so untrue, for 1 they are writing and recording new songs in America, the new album is apparently going to be released in October this year. I they wouldn't make plans like that if they were going to split.

If it is true i will eat my own hat and scarf.

And another point why would they say in April, if it were true they would split straight away.

BULLSHIT

I wouldn't trust the NOTW as far as i could throw it. They have all stated in interviews that they still have things they want to achieve together as a band. C&S may have done badly, but i can see them coming back strong.

One Touch flopped hard, and they got dropped. Yet they kept their heads up, got a new label and came back with Freak. Bet London Records were gutted.

I have a feeling that Keisha has kidnapped Amelle and Heidi and hid them away in a remote lodge with some amazing unknown producers to come up with some material that will blow us out of the water.

This no doubt has come about because of the lack of third single and they were an easier target than Slags Aloud.

Yeah, this isn't true.

And 'On The Hustle', I think it just means that's when they're working 'til. After then it's over. Like when a shop closes down.

yeh but what's the point in them working if their going to finish it all.

It's different to a shop, shops could still make money.

They have commitments to honour, I guess. They can still make money, too.

The word 'Apparently' and 'Source' make an appearance in this 'Story'.

If this was even built upon a misinterpreted quote they wouldn't be there. Those two words only mean one thing. 'Bullshit'

Oh and i just remembered they have those two forest gigs in June and July.
i pray to GOD this isnt true, and can't really see why it would be.. I'll wait for official news before commenting more, but i'm riding on the fact it's only NOTW
If this is true (which is highly doubtful from my POV) then all i can say is you are all going to see a massive resurgence of them in my personal chart.

Well they can't keep changing their lineup forever....

On the other hand they haven't changed it for a while, by Sugababes standards have they? Plus i don't think Sugababes, Saturdays and GA can stay in the same field for too long :heehee:

ok 1st of all - keep changing the lineup? They've changed TWICE over six studio albums... So there's no "sugababes standards" in terms of changing

Furthermore, why cant they stay in the same field? A bit of competition never hurt anyone..

I really cant see why this would be true, especially with as good as confirmation of plans for a new album...

Well obviously it's hurt the Sugababes, quite a lot :kink:

And where is their Myspace? :S "Undergoing maintenance" ?

It's not hurt them at all... what hurt them on the last album was a piss poor lead single compared to the bigger, more succesful and more commerical 'The Promise'... there was little to no hype around C&S, hell i'm pretty sure hardly anyone even knew they HAD a new album out...
