March 19, 200917 yr although people say the cd single is dying out i dis agree on some levels,one of the problems with cd singles nowadays is they are simply not available and in many cases people assume they cant get the cd single and simply opt for a download,likewise record companies have not fought for the survival of the cd single which does not help the cause,in many cases which the latest pet shop boys single proves supply is not meeting demand,from the record company point of view they no in some cases that there is demand so they charge higher prices,higher prices are putting the casual cd single buyer of purchasing but for the die hard fans thet know they will pay the prices. I firmly believe in many cases the release of a cd 2 cd format works and those who are fans of certain artists will buy both formats and a vinyl if available,of the top of my head acts like pet shops boys,kylie,madonna,girls aloud have fans who would love all formats and would buy all for a collection purpose alone, I must disagree. I work in trade and I know exactly what and why shops (any shop) wants to stock. Shops don't want to stock a product that doesn't make sales or make sales but can't earn from it because the sales are so low. Die hard fans are everywhere and they will buy of course singles in a physical format but there are not so many fans to make the single worth to sale in shops. Lets face it: CD single is a product, like books, food, furniture, car (no matter if it's from Kylie or Take That or some less known artist). And IMHO the content of a single is not worth the money it is offered for. I don't know how it is in the UK (that's true because I'm not british), but in Hungary shops are struggling to sale albums for years now! Singles never really sold in Hugnary at all. Small country, small demand and the profit on a single is almost nothing. It is about earnings and not about downloads vs CD singles or whatever. That's of course my point of view.

March 19, 200917 yr Soon will be top 10 i hope :D It's very unlikely, unfortunately, as Love Etc is currently over 3,000 sales behind Kings Of Leon at #10 according to a reliable source. He also claims that it's massively tight in the top 20 as a whole and that LE is only 700 sales ahead of the song at #21, so even a top 20 position isn't guaranteed yet. Having said that, if the CD singles are sufficiently restocked asap then top 15 should be a certainty. To emphasise how bad that situation is, LE has only sold 2,500 physical copies so far and 2,200 of them were on Monday! If it isn't resolved, the chart position will depend entirely on digital sales so the song needs to hold up on iTunes between now and Sunday.

Even the Comic Relief single isn’t out of the race yet, if enough people pick up the CD for the video as a last minute Mothers Day gift on Saturday… If Lady GaGa reaches No1 then she’ll be the first artist since Timbaland in 2007 to score a second No1 from an album that has been out for more than a month!

That's exactly right. Last week, Flo averaged a 32% lead over Gaga on iTunes, but only had a 20% lead in sales.
