Well, from Friday Practice i would say that Toyota may have finally built a good car. That thing was on fire! Williams is back on form, the pair of them looked excellent today.

Hamilton is properly struggling. Getting OWNED by Kovy in both sessions and failing in general. :w00t: Proves he ain't nothing special, Alonso made the R24 & R28 work for him and they were poor cars, the R24 being described as 'Undriveable' by Alonso and Trulli.

Piquet needs to be sacked. 19th is NOT FUCKING GOOD ENOUGH RETARD. Christ knows what he was playing at, but his turn 2 exit's were horrific at best. -_- why oh why did we let Kovy go?

Alonso was reasonable. about a second or so off the top both sessions, so we could be in for a podium chance. I hope.

BMW aren't looking very strong at all. BIG disaster for them both majorly struggled today.

RBR-Renault did far better in P2 than in P1 where they did 4 & 7 laps because of unreliability. Webber ended top5 in P2 so the Renault engine is looking fabby!

Ferrari were a little hit and miss.

Force India & Brawn GP are both worth watching this weekend. BGP could take the win, and FI could sneak into the points. They looked electric. Reminds me why we hired Fisi in the first place.

and finally STR look to have been overtaken by the main RBR-R team but are still pretty good.

I was at turn 2 exit this morning and watch Kimi take many trips across the grass, Ruben did a couple as well, and f***tard Piquet managed a full spin into the gravel trap, of which i have photos. unlike when Fisi went backwards into walls in the Renault he wasn't going very quickly -_- Hamilton looked a mess through T2, he was fighting the car yet Kovy looked pretty planted. The Toyota's to be quite honest owned that turn, Alonso was pretty good, but this years Renault looks a handful.

Cars using KERS - Ferrari and Renault are both fo' sho' using KERS this weekend, not sure about the others although i would imagine RBR are using it if Renault are.

P2 i was sitting at T16 exit so could see the pit straight :w00t: very few f*** up's made here -_- i shall be at T2 on race day for the big screen and the many f*** ups of the T1 exit.

Overall, i'd say the RBR-R is fast but Ugly as sin. Williams & Toyota will shock quite a few peoples, Brawn GP lives up to the hype but looks weird without any sponsor logos. Renault need to sack Piquet, but this years car is a stunner and the new flame inspired paintwork is epic.

I think that about covers it.

Oh yeah.

:cheer: :cheer: Hamilton is gonna get humped this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer:

If he fails to finish in the points or misses Q3 it'll make my f***ing month.

They are only free training, nothing more. Tomorrow is the day for top three teams = BMW, Ferrari & McLaren!

McLaren are completely out of the running for the time being. Indeed I think there is a realistic possibility that they won't make Q2; let alone Q3 in Australia.

Trust me on this. ;) McLaren will be lucky to score any points (let alone podium finishes) until Spain onwards.

Does anyone know how McLaren have got this so wrong, when some of the other teams have got it so right. Surely they have one of the biggest budgets in the sport. I can understand them being a few tenths down , but it seems they are miles behind. Have they been looking at the wrong plans when they built this year's car.

I think they possibly put too much into giving Hamilton the Championship last year that maybe they've not put as much time and resources into this year as they should've...

Simple. I heard an interview in the last week with Martin Brundle. He basically said that because of their costly runs ins with FIA in the recent past; they've built the car that most closely adhere's design wise to the new 2009 Regulations in the F1 paddock to avoid falling foul of the FIA stewards.

Unfortunately for them most of the other teams have pushed the boundaries / been more innovative of these new regulations leaving McLaren with a dog of a car. IE. The design of the rear diffuser on the Brawn, Williams and Toyota cars; etc.

So basicly they have been caught out by their own misdemeaners of the past.

Is anyone else looking forward to the original and best F1 theme..............Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain", I'm glad the BBC have decided to retain it rather than update it. Now I know F1 is back where it belongs on the BBC and no bloody adverts where you miss the only overtaking move in a race :D or a spectacular crash.

A tribute video & theme from some races from the past.

I don't get what these do...aren't the other teams complaining that they are illegal??? Why don't they stick'em on their cars

I mean Toyota, Brawn & Williams make up 6 of the Top 7 places...they've gotta be doing something right

Jenson Button on pole :cheer: Really looking forward to the race, going to be interesting to see if Brawn can pull off a 1-2.
I can believe, all teams with KERS system are very bad (McLaren, Ferrari, Renault and Heidfeld), this is not good! :(

* Lewis Hamilton's McLaren to start from the back of the grid due to a penalty accrued for changing the gearbox. (The cars Q 16-20 to move up a place on the grid).

Renault have done a 180 on KERS and have not fitted it to the R29 that is currently in Melbourne.

f***ing fools.

Force India i thought would be higher but other than that i was pretty much spot on. Ferrari pulled some pace out of the bag from somewhere. The two BMW's looked pretty horrific on track tbh, i think Kubica could be fueled pretty light.

The Three diffuser teams really own the rest of the grid right now. Can't wait for that to get banned ^_^

To re-iterate yesterdays mini rant. Piquet needs sacked. -_- Alonso would have been in Q3 had he not gone in too deep into T15 and proceed to drive straight across the grass and into the pit lane. Thankfully Piquet didn't have any spins today.

Quick question to anyone who has paid more attention to the new rules than me.

If moveable Aero is allowed, when can we get our Mass Dampers back? We've struggled majorly since we lost them.

I suspect Renault will be applying to upgrade their engine again at the end of the year. They were the only team to end the season with a legal engine

Jenson Button on pole :cheer: Really looking forward to the race, going to be interesting to see if Brawn can pull off a 1-2.

while i marginally prefer Button to w*n**rboy, i really hope he gets no where near that podium.

i wouldn't put my cash on Brawn until round 3. It'll be interesting to see how reliable the car is seeing as it has had very little testing.

I would bet on Alonso scoring at least one point. Him and Pat will pull something out the bag.

Lewis looks like he'll be landed with a penalty for a gearbox change. Thats the reason he didn't run Q2, not that he'd have gotten further likes.

It has just been announced on the Radio 5 Live bulletin that he has.

Well he was never going to score more than the odd point at best in the first GP of 2009 and then only due to retirements to other cars, so he is in a similar situation that Alonso found himself in last year with a dog of a car at the start of the season......

i did think he would, the GPTV commentators reckoned it was pretty likely considering he missed most of Q1 as well.

he so nearly crashed out then.

I regards to the other point, unlike Alonso i don't think Hamilton is anywhere near good enough to pull off a turn around like Alonso did and i fully expect Kovy to outdrive him.

After all Kovy (R27) and Alonso (Minardi, R23 wasn't perfect but he won a GP in it, R24 labeled undriveable but it finished 3rd overall, R28 down on power and Aero.) have both had experiences in bad cars. Hamilton hasn't allegedly he's always been in a winning car.

I shall be enjoying 2009 :smoke: I would quite like Hamilton to hit the barrier at Turn 2 tomorrow so i can 1) catch it on camera and 2) laugh at him face to face. :D

formula1.com news

The Toyotas of Timo Glock will start Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix from the back of the grid after stewards found their cars to be in contravention of the rules. They had qualified sixth and eighth respectively.

A post-qualifying inspection by the FIA found the TF109s’ to have ‘extreme flexibility’ in their rear wings, thus breaking Formula One racing’s technical regulations. Glock’s and Trulli’s qualifying times were cancelled as a result.

"The Stewards have received a report from the Technical Delegate that the upper rear wing elements of cars No. 9 and 10 are showing extreme flexibility in contravention of Article 3.15 of the 2009 Formula One Technical Regulations,” said the FIA.

"The Stewards have heard the explanation from a representative of Panasonic Toyota Racing and have examined the cars in question.

"The Stewards concur with the opinion of the Technical Delegate and find the cars contravene the requirements of Article 3.15 of the 2009 Formula One Technical Regulations.

"It is the Stewards decision that cars number 9 and 10 be excluded from the Qualifying Session Official Classification."

According to Article 3.15, wings must be 'rigidly secured' to the sprung part of the car and not have 'any degree of freedom'.

Cheating $h!tes.

I knew there was no way on gods earth Toyota had legally produced a good car.

first the dodgy diffuser then a dodgy rear wing! HA!

Guess Toyota won't be doing jack this wkend.

And :cheer: Alonso Gets a top10 start with a custom fuel load :nocheer: @ Hamilton moving up however -_-

So Toyota get banned and not Williams or Brawn???

I thought it was due to the diffuser causing too much flexibility

Shows how dumb i am :P

Great to see Brawn dominating the qualifying and Button up at the top where he should be :D

I don't get what these do...aren't the other teams complaining that they are illegal??? Why don't they stick'em on their cars

I mean Toyota, Brawn & Williams make up 6 of the Top 7 places...they've gotta be doing something right

It would cost a lot of money (and time) for teams like Force India to develop the diffuser, Brawn GP, Williams and Toyota have basically attempted to use 2008 style diffusers which disturb the ariflow at the rear of the car create a significant amount of downforce. Other teams believed this was illegal as they believed the new rules were meant to make it easier for cars to follow and overtake each other as they were not meant to disturb the air flow of the car.

And there's no cheating, Honda, Toyota and Williams all just read the rules correctly whilst everyone else missed the trick so good on them I say. Toyota have obviously been looking to find speed in other areas with the flexible wings but I'm sure that's largely unrelated.

Jenson looks fantastic, one lap more fuel than Rubens and some 3/10s quicker - IMMENSE. I don't see how people can say he's not good when he's never had the chance to show it. Back when Honda finished 2nd they were still miles behind Ferrari and Jens did a brilliant job of taking as many points as possible. He will surely dominate tomorrow's race as Rubens has been struggling with the heavier car and no one else is within 1/2 a second! Red Bull look very exciting, will be great to see them doing well finally and Williams too!
