I think Robert Kazinsky has it spot on.

Nice to see people's views on the tragedy

Anyone would think she was sent down to Earth by an angel and did good to the World

I feel terrible for her family and for her to die at such an early age but seriously its so stupid how people are making her out to be god's gift.

And while you're at it you should say a prayer for the families of Natasha Richardson and Wendy Richards also...... -_-

Do you HAVE to compare her death to the death of these two in every single thread about her? :arrr:

Well, is it actually not relevant....? Wendy Richards ALSO died from cancer, but showed a little more dignity and class about it.... You dont exactly see her having some sort of tacky televised funeral like she's a bloody head of state or summat.....

oh lord.... how many times <_<

theres NO comparison, jade was a career 'celeb' famous for being herself NOT a long running tv actress whos career stretched nearly 50 years

Exactly

The last few weeks have been an undignified freak show in terms of the media coverage and so on, Jade should have taken the route that Wendy Richard, Caron Keating (I didn't even know she had breast cancer till she died), Patrick Swayze etc etc and died with a bit of dignity (although Swayze isn't dead yet)

Oh lord, how many more times indeed Rob.... WTF is wrong with you....???? You just cant see the wood for the trees can you....? Why the fukk are the medjaaaahhhhh all boo hoo hooing about some talentless fukkin' CHAV moron whom they all bloody hated anyway if they're being totally honest....? Why is HER death deemed more worthy of media attention...?

Nah, you're right, there's no comparison.... In terms of the media coverage.....

Because she was so young and already had the attention of the media at the time of her demise. (I'd not heard anything more about Wendy Richard since her leaving Eastenders and I had absolutely no idea who Natasha Richardson was). Also, she wanted the media attention to 1) raise money for her kids 2) raise awareness of her condition and the necessity for screening even at such a young age.

In comparison of the media coverage, obviously the Jade Goody story was disproportionately overexposed, I just ignored it toward the end (not that we are completely at the end of it just yet!).

1) raise money for her kids 2) raise awareness of her condition and the necessity for screening even at such a young age.

A parent is supposed to look after their kids, so I see no reason for giving her credit for that one mate.... Also, bear in mind the fact that she's actually given power of attorney for her kids' legacy over to JACK FUKKIN' TWEED (a drug addicted, binge drinking piece of trash whose had two court apperances and a jail term for aggravated assault) as opposed to the kids' natural dad, Jeff Brazier (who, er, has no such convictions, nor is he a druggie or an alkie, to my knowledge)... So, that's highly questionable in my book....

Secondly, oh, please.... Sorry, but this whole "awareness" thing never even occured to her until Max Clifford took charge of the whole PR thing..... What they should be spreading awareness of is the very real fact of the NHS Postcode lottery that exists, and a total incoherence of care when it comes to cancer treatment.... One NHS trust will give you the proper care if you're diagnosed with cancer, another wont.... A bloody national scandal that is, and not exactly talked about by either Goody or Clifford, so just what IS the point in encouraging all these young girls to go out and get screening if the proper care aint even there for them....? Fukkin' POINTLESS.....

Well, it was the only option available to her for making the maximum amount of money she possibly could for her kids, so full credit to her for taking advantage of that opportunity. As for Jack "f'ing" Tweed...I guess "love really is blind". Maybe it'll be the making of him...though I seriously doubt it, not that he'll be able to do much from behind bars once his sentencing is complete! (If, of course, that's the punishment he's given).

I know this will sound very clicheed, but it's nonetheless true...if even one approx. 25year old woman who wasn't intending to get screened, decides to get screened and it saves her life after hearing about Jade's nonchalant attitude to being screened herself, then that extra bit of publicity will have been worth it. As for your other points regarding that, I can't really comment as I have no experience of it, though I'm fairly sure that what you said is true.

Oh, it's bloody true alright....

And, like I say, all the screening in the world aint gonna get the actual care or the necessary drugs on the ground that people might need if you live in the "wrong" post-code, so ultimately, I think this "screening campaign" could all be for nought, because screening is surely only half the problem....

if even one approx. 25year old woman who wasn't intending to get screened, decides to get screened and it saves her life

And what if that 25-year old woman happens to live in the "wrong" postcode though.....?

"Well, your screening does indeed say you have cervical cancer, unfortunately, we dont have the funding to give you the proper meds....". Great...... -_-

Which is basically why I believe that the actual focus for the campaign is wrong and far more focus should've been put onto cancer treatment and the disparity in care between the individual trusts, something which I believe this Govt and the previous Tory administration are responsible for... Screening will only tell you if you have cancer or not, it wont actually do anything to treat it if someone does come up positive for cervical cancer...
