TAKE YOUR PICK!

LOL, Jonjo beat me to it.

Cool poster, but nothing will top Orton's No Mercy 07 image. That was hot, man. This one's neat too, though.

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh dear lord, I can't take another HHH v. Orton match. Maybe they'll be creative and not have "Wrestlemania Part 2" for Backlash this year?

Going into the WWE Draft on April 13, the idea is that Raw and Smackdown will no longer be treated as separate brands, but equal. Last year they moved Triple H, Jeff Hardy and Jim Ross to Smackdown to strengthen the shows transition to MyNetworkTV. The move is seen as unsuccessful considering the drop in ratings. The plan now is to move the top talent to Raw for maximum exposure, and keep two-three stars on Smackdown to keep house show business strong.

Source: Meltzer, WON

Well, it doesn't make a difference. The Draft means nothing and has done for years now. Stars are always appearing on opposing Brands, it's so illogical. Yet they ONE wrestling company still has TWO World Titles. Who's ever heard of that?! Yikes, I'm hoping for a good Raw tonight, because I don't want to be continually disappointed.

But anyway, Backlash is always "same ol', same ol'" with rehashed stories from Wrestlemania. The writers usually get lazy after Wrestlemania, which is a shame because a lot of the stuff in the weeks leading upto Mania was pretty good.

Vickie's getting wrestling training. Now, wouldn't it be funny if she were to wrestle at Backlash? ;)

LMFAO! Vicki Wrestling?

Good for her though! 'Backlash' IMO always seem to have the matches Wrestlemania really should have had. It's one of my fave PPV's actually. So I will look forward to this year!

Yeah, she's OFFICIALLY training to wrestle for a future angle of some kind. Now I would pay to see that.

The thing is, if you look at Backlash history, it's pretty much a joke. The only *really* strong Backlash was 2000. That HHH v. Rock program was on fire, with Rock v. McMahons and Austin returning for one night. Now that's how you book a post-Wrestlemania PPV. WWE are totally uninspiring when we have these "I want my rematch!" clauses which are seemingly ALWAYS used at least once at Backlash. How about more creativity? They've done it before in the space of a short time, so they can do it again. It just means hard work and actual planning instead of picking a "standard feud" in the discussion room.

Hmmm... I guess I can see a future feud with Steph McMahon or Edge has another affair and she get's it on with whoever is having an affair with Edge...

Yeah I see what you mean about the "Rematch Clause" and stuff. It is a bit tiring isn't it? LOL

2000 was a good year for WWE... I miss Fully Loaded :( Fully Loaded 2000 was/is one of my favourite PPV's EVER! The first Triple Main Event. You had Team X-Treme (Hardyz and Lita) vs TnA & Trish (Test [R.I.P], Albert & Trish) one of my faves ever, the crowd are never like that anymore :(, Val Venis vs Rikishi battling for the Intercontinental Championship in a shockingly good Cage Match, Also had American 'BadAss' 'taker vs Kurt Angle, The Rock vs Chris Benoit and quite possibly the best Last Man Standing match ever (IMO) Triple H vs Chris Jericho!

Just a BRILLIANT PPV! Shame they don't have the creative team behind stuff like the above anymore :(

I was thinking maybe Edge v. Vickie at Wrestlemania 26 for the right to be GM of Smackdown; I'm sure WWE will be continuing the program for that long ;) That was a pure joke, BTW.

Yeah, 2000 was just on fire. It's the only time HHH drew money for the company, and that was really more to do with The Rock (as it was his top year in terms of popularity). I also remember Fully Loaded. Rikishi did that big dive of the cage, didn't he? He could be so fun at times, and that was just crazy. I remember really loving The Rock v. Benoit at the time. The Rock could be such a good worker at times.

All this chat about how hot WWE was back in 2000 has made me realise we've been in a wrestling dark age for just too long now.

 I have that Fully Loaded on video

 I have that Fully Loaded on video
LMAO! I Bought it off ebay about 2 year ago coz I love the PPV that much! HAHA!

Yeah we've been wrestling in dark since late 2004/early 2005 I reckon :( Forget the "PG Rating" we want the WWE that everyone know's and love, back in the attitude days, when ANYTHING happened. BRING BACK THE HARDCORE TITLE and the 24 hour rule!

Well, from watching most of 'Raw' last night, the main event for 'Backlash' is Legacy v. the McMahon clan.....with the stipulation that if anyone from the McMahon's wins the match, HHH remains champion...if anyone from Legacy win, Orton becomes WWE champ....

Also, it'll be Edge v. John Cena in a Last Man Standing match for the World Championship....

Vicki Guerrero has also 'decided' to remain as Raw GM....since she was interim GM for the past couple months....

I fell asleep before the Raw main event last night, Vince McMahon v. Randy Orton....

Batista made his return to help out McMahon's at the end of Raw. Now Vince has ejected himself out of the match and replaced with Batista. (Who is STILL managing to botch the Spears  <_<) Ugh I hate Boretista with a PASSION!
Yeah, Batista's back. As if things couldn't get more stale...
OH, and I have to say that "Santina"/Beth skit on RAW was just hilarious. I haven't LOL'd at a wrestling promo in a long time, but it was written to perfection.
Bloody Batista. Him and Triple H on the same team is quite possibly the worst thing ever. I'm just hoping one turns on the other or something
Agreed. Behind Trips, Batista is the second most stale star they have. It's been the same shtick for too long now. I have a feeling Batista will turn on H, but then I've been thinking they'll turn him for a while but it's never happened so who knows.

I watched Wrestlemania and thought it was an alright show but completely agree with the masses that Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels completely STOLE the show, it was immense. I'm not a huge fan per se of either of them but it was gripping, down to the last second. Before WM began I was totally convinced that Undertaker would win (like I am every year!) but during the match I actually let that drop and thought "good God, HBK could actually end the streak!", after the elbow off the top and the Sweet Chin Music I thought it could be over. Immense match.

As Triple H is my favourite wrestler (and has been for a good 11 years now :heehee: ) I was severely disappointed in the main event, I was pleased to see him retain obviously, but I expected a lot more drama. There was no real "near falls" or exciting moments, I expected involvement from both Legacy and the McMahon's but got neither, and expected a lot more controversy. I was really disappointed, the end of the match was really quite one sided and I felt it ended abruptly with the pedigree. Considering it was the 25th anniversary I think they could have made a lot more effort, obviously it would never have been because it was a strapless bout but in my opinion Undertaker Vs. Shawn should have closed the show. I only hope that the draft next weeks sees them end up on the same show to continue this amazing feud.

Anywho, back to Triple H. I'm feeling a bit "meh" towards Backlash, but like everybody else I sense a heel turn on Batista's part. He's been face for too long now and injecting him between Orton and Triple H is a bit WTF'ish because he doesn't have loyalty to either of them, making his appearance in this storyline a bit pointless, he has no reason to be there. I think sometime within the next few months we're going to see a Triple H/Batista program though, based on the fact that Triple H has NEVER beaten Batista, they'll play for that angle I assume. Where Orton fits into that I don't know as of yet so i'm keen to see how it plays out.

BRING ON THE DRAFT! :D
