This included repeat showings of those daily episodes. More true figures for NEIGHBOURS were 8m for a single showing. HOME AND AWAY was no more than 7m. The 7pm showings on ITV on Mon, Weds, Thur were WISH YOU WERE HERE (holidays were maybe couldn`t afford, as we approached another recession), THIS IS YOUR LIFE with MICHAEL ASPEL on Weds, THROUGH THE KEYHOLE on Fri, along with DAVID FROST/LLOYD GROSSMAN and a celebrity panel featuring WILLIE RUSHTON, EVE POLLARD, and CHRIS TARRANT. MICHAEL BARRYMORE was on his 5 series of STRIKE IT LUCKY. INSPECTOR MORSE burst on to the screens, along with Lewis of course! CILLA pulled them in for SURPRISE SURPRISE along with GORDON BURNS. THE BILL was still on it`s twice weekly stint Tues/Thurs 8pm. YOU BET was on it`s final Saturday series with BRUCE FORSYTH, before on MATTHEW KELLY took over. EMMERDALE was doing ok, twice a week also Tues/Thurs. JOINT ACCOUNT was a sitcom with HANNAH GORDON, and ex-EVER DECREASING CIRCLES actor PETER EGAN. A repeat of TO THE MANOR BORN beat BAYWATCH. BAYWATCH (on Saturdays), achieved more viewers, than an early outing for YOU`VE BEEN FRAMED for the late and brilliant JEREMY BEADLE. Did we all have our Squarials up for BSB? It was a mistake because beset by problems, they later merged with SKY TV. The BBC announced they would make £75 million in savings by 1993, in a re-organisation plan...more repeats then! Remember WATERFRONT BEAT? It was BBC`s answer to THE BILL (but was set in London), that began in 1990. And of course, who could forget GRANADA`s new daytime soap "FAMILIES"...half set in Cheshire, half in Sydney! Complications killed this one off, as outside scenes were shot in Sydney...and inside scenes were recreated in Manchester (rather away from Cheshire, too) months later, for filming purposes. Even the make-up, had to match the sun-tanned bodies exactly! Australian crisp packets had to be shipped in to Britain, too. By 1992, most of the cast had moved on...all that travelling, ay! 1990`s Albums: Compiled by MRIB (Weds to Tues) 01 01 BEHIND THE MASK - FLEETWOOD MAC 02 02 ONLY YESTERDAY - CARPENTERS 03 04 BUT SERIOUSLY - PHIL COLLINS 04 19 ALANNAH MILES - ALANNAH MYLES 05 12 VIVALDI: FOUR SEASONS - NIGEL KENNEDY 06 NE LIFE - INSPIRAL CARPETS 07 11 FEAR OF A BLACK PLANET - PUBLIC ENEMY 08 03 CHANGESBOWIE - DAVID BOWIE 09 06 BRIGADE - HEART 10 NE NOW 17 - VARIOUS 11 08 DAYS OF OPEN HAND - SUZANNE VEGA 12 07 LABOUR OF LOVE II - UB40 13 05 ABSOLUTELY - ABC 14 10 I DO NOT WANT WHAT I HAVEN`T GOT - SINEAD O`CONNER 15 09 BEST OF - VAN MORRISON 16 15 JUST THE TWO OF US - VARIOUS 17 14 HEART OF STONE - CHER 18 16 DEEP HEAT 6-THE SIXTH SENSE - VARIOUS 19 17 PUMP UP THE JAM - TECHNOTRONIC 20 NE DREAMLAND - BLACKBOX 3 weeks at the top for FLEETWOOD MAC in the albums, and no hit single from said album! 7 years after the untimely death of KAREN CARPENTER came a retro package via ONLY YESTERDAY...this did manage a week at the top, before FLEETWOOD MAC, before which DAVID BOWIE had his hits package at the top. PHIL COLLINS was still see-sawing around, after 14 weeks at #1! ALANNAH MYLES crashed up, helped by a single. NIGEL KENNEDY gave us the Classical Punk! The amazingly brilliant INSPIRAL CARPETS crashed in, and then peaked at #4. PUBLIC ENEMY (not my cut of meat), reached their peak. HEART`s latest fell from a peak of #4. NOW 17, of course crashed to #1 on the following week. SUZANNE VEGA slipped, but hung around following the DNA re-mixed hit single. UB40 were on the cimb with their 2nd "LABOUR OF LOVE". ABC gave us ABSOLUTELY, another hits package. I always wonder why VAN MORRISON didn`t get a big solo hit single, but he shouldn`t worry because his albums did great. SINEAD O` CONNER was off a #1 album. CHER was slipping with her see-sawing long runner. TECHNOTRONIC were at waterline. BLACKBOX snook in...but not the biggest album in the world. Compilations were a floating around as well as NOW 17...JUST THE TWO OF US, was largely love song types featuring GROVER WASHINGTON JNR, and the like. DEEP HEAT reached it`s 6th album...as THE BLUES BROTHERS Soundtrack popped up to #27. 1990`s Singles: Compiled by MRIB (Mon to Fri) 01 01 VOGUE - MADONNA 02 02 BLACK VELVET - ALANNAH MYLES 03 03 OPPOSITES ATTRACT - PAULA ABDUL/THE WILD PAIR 04 11 KILLER - ADAMSKI 05 NE A DREAM`S A DREAM - SOUL II SOUL 06 15 DIRTY CASH - ADVENTURES OF STEVIE V 07 06 STEP ON - HAPPY MONDAYS 08 05 THE POWER - SNAP! 09 04 KINGSTON TOWN - UB40 10 07 ALL I WANNA DO IS MAKE LOVE TO YOU - HEART 11 09 EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY TO LOVE - BLUES BROTHERS 12 10 GHETTO HEAVEN - FAMILY STAND 13 08 DON`T MISS THE PARTYLINE - BIZZ NIZZ 14 28 SOMETHING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN - PHIL COLLINS 15 NE NOVEMBER SPAWNED A MONSTER - MORRISEY 16 17 COUNTING EVERY SINGLE MINUTE - SONIA 17 23 USE IT UP AND WEAR IT OUT - PAT AND MICK 18 12 THIS BEAT IS TECHNOTRONIC - TECHNOTRONIC/MC ERIC 19 26 FROM OUT OF NOWHERE - FAITH NO MORE 20 14 HANG ON TO YOUR LOVE - JASON DONOVAN 21 49 WILD WOMEN DO - NATALIE COLE 22 16 LOVE SHACK - B52`s 23 13 ESCAPADE - JANET JACKSON 24 33 MUSICAL MELODY/WEIGHT FOR THE BASS - UNIQUE 3 25 19 REAL REAL REAL - JESUS JONES 26 NE SNAPPINESS - BBG/DINA TAYLOR 27 30 TOMORROW - TONGUE N`CHEEK 28 48 TATTOOED MILLIONAIRE - BRUCE DICKINSON 29 18 BIRDHOUSE IN YOUR SOUL - THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS 30 45 THE SEX OF IT - KID CREOLE 31 20 STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER - CANDY FLIP 32 NE CRADLE OF LOVE - BILLY IDOL 33 36 HITCHIN` A RIDE - SINNITA 34 43 SCARLET - ALL ABOUT EVE 35 NE THE SIXTH SENSE - LATINO RAVE 36 22 LILY WAS HERE - DAVID A. This kept Canadian ALANNAH MYLES stuck at 2. PAULA ABDUL did manage to nudge up one more place to 2. As ADAMSKI along with SEAL kept "Killer" a-top for 3 weeks. SOUL II SOUL kept going...rather strangely on this one "I Can See, I Can See, Right Through". DIRTY CASH was kept from the top 2 from ADAMSKI, and Martin`s best pal KYLIE! The HAPPY MONDAYS re-worked JOHN KONGOS 1971 top 5 hit "He`s Gonna Step On You Again". SNAP sneaked 1 week at the top, as did the B52`s. UB40 were everywhere with "Kingston Town". HEART were doing the business single wise too, having been around since the 70s. We had the BLUES BROTHERS track from the Soundtrack. FAMILY STAND were on the same label (East West), as were quite a few in the chart, including ALANNAH. We went on the House/Dance/Rave scene with BIZZ NIZZ, TECHNOTRONIC, UNIQUE 3, BBG, TOUGUE AND CHEEK. and the LATINO RAVE track (which came from the DEEP HEAT album, mentioned earlier). Something happened on the way to Heaven for PHIL COLLINS, because it peaked at #7! MORRISEY ( back with his newie next week) did manage to climb to #10 with "November Spawned A Monster"...it must have been Guy Fawkes! SONIA was Counting Every Minute...to try to get another top ten hit. PAT SHARP teamed up with MICK BROWN yeet again for Capital Radio`s "Help A London Child", and re-made an ODDYSEY hit. JESUS JONES was kind of "ravey" I suppose, and the 2nd hit of the year. JASON DONOVAN was dipping. NATALIE COLE got another top tenner out of "Wild Women Do". "Escapade" peaked at 13 for JANET JACKSON. We got heavy with FAITH NO MORE, BRUCE DICKINSON, and BILLY IDOL. KID CREOLE returned briefly. CANDY FLIP sung the BEATLES, and just like the original peaked at #2, behind SNAP! SINITTA covered VANITY FARE`s 1970 hit...We may well remember a Radio One jingle from VANITY FARE...The traffic news jingle. There was also a 1974 version of "Hitchin` A Ride"...a quite passible version by PAPER LACE. AND WHY NOT were still trying to follow up "The Face", but couldn`t! The quite mind blowing "Mama Gave Birth To The Soul Children" from QUEEN LATIFAH slipped after getting up to #13. A bunch of forgotten hits below these...all minor came from TAYLOR DAYNE, KIM WILDE, HISTORY, A WAY OF LIFE, ADAM ANT (who had been in the States acting), and the return of PROPAGANDA...as we remembered the earlier hit by them "Duel"...."Heaven Give Me Words", well forgotten. April 24, 200916 yr Thanks for the Top 10 books, I actually bought 2 of those books today, the ones from Lee Child and Karin Slaughter, just have to get round to them some time. Back to the music bit, I think DM will get their #1 album come Sunday, I know many members will think different, but I feel it in my loins :D A great #1 in the retro chart from 1990, and the Paula Abdul track was one of my favourite hits of that year.
April 24, 200916 yr Just checked the retro chart more closer and it's full of memories :o I was 11 year old at that time though

April 24, 200916 yr Tinchy can't have sold only 2.5k more than La Roux xP Yes please for Deadmau5 top 40 :o Shame about Trashmen. Marmaduke could scrape top 10 by Sunday. KoL could be gone from the top 40 next week... Sugar might get a new peak.
April 24, 200916 yr Thanks Dave Good chart this week. Sad that Surfin' Bird didn't make the top 40, but pleasantly surprised for Deadmau5.
April 24, 200916 yr PDLM and Prodigy both making top 20 gives me a happy :D There must be some misinformation about Tinchy's lead. Seems out by around a factor of 10, maybe they missed a zero (whoever 'they' are) xP Tinchers could easily do 80+k this week. Edited April 24, 200916 yr by B-rye
April 24, 200916 yr By the way, :nocheer: at James Fox (Eurovision 2004) being top 15 (on pre-orders) with his new single... but not Jade Ewen
