So guesses- how many do you, hope and think will enter the house?

The NOTW thing I posted says "From Thursday night she'll be competing with 15 other housemates for the £100,000 Big Brother prize." so I'd say 16. :heehee:

That chair though, it's a bit hideous.

Among the 16 hopefuls, there will be "gays, lesbians, bisexuals and virgins", confirmed show producer Phil Edgar-Jones.

"Most of them are single, but they are a really diverse bunch," he said. "They are a cosmopolitan mix.

Sounds like i'll be turning off after launch night then! :(

Putting too many diverse people in just does not work.

I like how they have to compete for a place this year  I'm still sure one of the housemates with the best potential, will be removed first though :(

That chair is f***ing horrific though  LOVE the walls, but WTF with the CHAIR

The best chair was this one:

I actually want one of those :(

So the same as pretty much every year then?

Why? :o Diversity is what makes it good. It'd be boring if it was all people of similar ages with similar backgrounds, would it not?

I never get the "turning off after launch night" mentality either. You get to see very little of them actually in the house on launch night so you're missing out on the housemates interacting with each other. It's a bit like watching the opening credits of something you've never seen, then not watching the show because you didn't like the look of the cast. I reckon you need to watch it for about a fortnight before you know whether it's going to be good or not.

But maybe that's just me?

i agree whats the point of watching the launch and not tuning in to see what they are really like as on launch night you dont get to see what there really like,

Is it just me or are Channel 4 promoting big brother alot more this year than previous years???

Funny you should say that. Earlier I was saying that Big Brother seems less promoted than normal. My Mum has been asking if it definitely starts tomorrow, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people were like this.

I was thinking that too. Usually the day they release the promo pic of the housemates, but this year, nothing. Well apart from the NOTW hottie.

But maybe that's because I actually have a LIFE now! :o (YES YOU HEARD RIGHT :o)

^ They normally release facts about the housemates but even that has been scrapped this year.

I don't like this Thursday start at all.

Oh rumour - ex-HM's to enter on July 14th to celebrate 10 years of BB. Likely to be rubbish but nothing would shock me.

You can usually make your mind up on launch night as to whether you'll like the contestants. This year i'll barely keep up with it even IF it interests me. If I start watching it 2 weeks in, then I get gripped and I don't like it as I can't stop watching it ahaha.

Diversity to a certain degree is good, but gays, lesbians, straights, bisexuals, transexuals etc. - just seems to push the boat out a little bit too much. It turns people away as I for one don't want to waste 1hr of my life a night watching people that infuriate the life out of me.

Is that definitely the DR chair? We've never seen the chair before the launch night, it's like the only part of the house kepy secret usually

Oh, I think it must be now other pics coming out -

The thing with that NOTW story is that it said this year is going to be the last even though Davina has said that there is going to be one next year, plus the fact i dont really believe anything that the NOTW prints is true, i won't believe a single word of that article until i see the proof tonight.

Can't believe they are going to have to eat cold porridge and sleep on the lounge floor for the first new days. And i bet my fave characters will not successfully complete their challenges.

Big Brother's producers have revealed that there will be no "official housemates" on the series ten launch night.

Eight men and eight women will enter the compound at 9pm tonight on Channel 4 to compete for the £100,000 prize. However, their first challenge will be to become official housemates.

On arrival the hopefuls will be informed that they are not fully fledged contestants and that they have not been granted full access to the Big Brother house.

All 16 will have to earn the right to remain on the show. Each applicant will be given specially designed tasks to challenge their "fear and pride".

They will not be given access to a bedroom, kitchen or bathroom and will have to survive without their suitcases. Big Brother will provide the contestants with porridge and cold water to survive on.

The group's only cleaning facilities are a bath and a tap providing cold water. The only way to get the water in the bath is via a bucket, which has holes at the bottom.

A source told Digital Spy: "Every year on Big Brother, we try to come up with new ideas that will shock and surprise people. So this year, there is literally no furniture. They have crates and barrels to sit on and they will have to sleep on the floor.

"Over the course of the first few days, all the hopefuls will have to earn the right to be housemates. There will be various tasks that individuals have to go through. They will range from testing their fears and seeing how stupid they are willing to let themselves look - all the usual Big Brother fun and games. If they fail the task, they will no longer be a housemate."

The insider added: "From the very word go, the contestants will have to work. They think they've done the hard bit at auditions, but they will get here and from the very start, try to earn their right to be here. This will hopefully move the goalposts a little bit, because no one will be expecting this on launch night."

Wow, this show just get's better and better :nocheer:
