May 22, 200916 yr Author Tami Lynn's "I'm Gonna Run Away From You" from 1975 was great but most of that chart was awful and "Stand By Your Man" was a dreadful number one... whereas "Bonkers" is a great number one from 2009! I remember thinking, back in 1975..."What has happened to the top 30?" Suddenly it was rather all easy listening. Most of the singles even featured heavily on Radio 2!
May 22, 200916 yr The maddest thing about that is, the Tami Lynn song was a Northern Soul reissue from 1964 :o
May 22, 200916 yr Author The maddest thing about that is, the Tami Lynn song was a Northern Soul reissue from 1964 :o It was indeed. Released in 1964...A British flop (too ahead of it`s time). Re-released in May 1971 (where it went to #4). Rather strange that it became a hit again in 1975. Though it was played to death in Wigan, and those indeed Northern Soul venues, with 1975 throwing up lots of old Northern Soul. With re-recordings of "Footsee" along with Wigan`s Chosen Few, and the other re-recorded "Skiing In The Snow" by Wigan`s Ovation...both out of 1968, when "Skiing In The Snow" was recorded by The Invitations.
May 23, 200916 yr The latter two were awful though. Actually Kiki Dee cut a nice version of the song in 1966 though she called it "Why Dont I Run Away From You"... She's older than she wants us to think :kink:

Stand By Your Man is my fave No.1 of all time but Tammy Wynette has better songs on albums.

I remember Mysterious Girl by Peter Andre was released 3 times. 1995 - #53 1996 - #2  2004 - The Chris Moyles Campaign + I'm A Celebrity... = #1
May 23, 200916 yr Stand By Your Man is my fave No.1 of all time but Tammy Wynette has better songs on albums.it's an awful song! Even Tammy Wynette didn't like it...

May 24, 200916 yr wow big drop for the fame! Note that three of the albums getting the better of it are Various Artists compilations and won't affect it's performance in the official artists album chart. Negating those, it would actually be falling from 3 to 7 on this chart - nowhere near as sharp a drop.

I'm sure it will sell a lot at the weekend and get back up to 5, outselling Madness and The Prodigy (I hope it doesn't though) Edited May 24, 200916 yr by B-rye
May 24, 200916 yr Do we know something about The World We Live In, in the new charts ? Huge flop, isn't it ?

I'd prefer it didn't too, but it seems inevitable.
