Posted May 22, 200916 yr With a pretty stark vote of no confidence in the majority of the House of Commons and a stack of members now sitting out the remainder of their terms in disgrace, isn't it now time we had a General Election? I know Labour hold the power over the election date but, theoretically, is it time? What kind of result do you think would be returned? I think there's a good chance of a hung parliament being returned if we went to the booths tomorrow. I reckon this would be a good thing as a coalition government would be forced to work together with a mandate to rebuild parliament's reputation, to stabilise the economy and to introduce tough penalties for white collar fraud.

Yes there should be a general election Yes I am biased because I know that Tories will win by a majority of 150+ if there was an election tomorrow but even that aside there are hundreds of crooks and spivs sitting in the house who have no right to be there after all the stealing they have done so the best thing to do is call a general election and get new MP's in who will be able to give politics a fresh start
May 22, 200916 yr From the perspective of a floating voter...nope...not yet... we're only just emerging from the furore of the expenses issue. Completely the wrong time to further upset the apple-cart and contemplate election preparations.
May 22, 200916 yr No, I don't think so. Although I would like one I think it would make sense for the expenses row to be cleared first so we know exactly why doesn't deserve to be representing us anymore and who still might. If we had one now I can see too many people voting in anger against the main 3 parties causing a huge rise in popularity of the BNP.
May 22, 200916 yr No there shouldn't be one at this time, until all this has calmed down a bit. Whenever it's held there'll be a Tory majority of at least 160 in my opinion.
May 22, 200916 yr Whenever it's held there'll be a Tory majority of at least 160 in my opinion. Which would be the absolute WORST thing for this country.... The Tories are scum, Labour are scum.... Lib Dems.... Slightly less scummy, but still waist deep in sh!t, so I would have to consider my options.... The only thing that will genuinely change things in this country would be a Hung Parliament IMO.... I'm with Richie.... And I shall vote accordingly... I MAY even vote for an Independent Candidate.....
May 22, 200916 yr European/County Council elections here at the beginning of next month with three candidates... UKIP - heard nothing from them Tory - a general Tory leaflet through the post Labour - the only one to drop in a leaflet with info about the actual candidate Can they just not be bothered about this vote or what? Might hear more from them closer to the time, I suppose. Completely undecided who to vote for yet.
May 22, 200916 yr UKIP - heard nothing from them I've just never really "got" UKIP to be honest... They're whole position is utterly flawed anyway.... On the one hand, they dont want Britain to be in Europe and then on the other, they've fielded candidates for the EU elections......  Also, they're SOOOOO big on UK "going it alone", and then say they want UK to have closer ties to the US.....WTF?????
May 22, 200916 yr The UKIP woman on Question Time last night was probably the most useless panellist I've ever seen on the programme. William Hague and Vince Cable were both as good you'd expect. I didn't agree with everything Hague said but I can recognise a good performance when I see one. I was also very impressed with Ben Bradshaw. There's one Labour minister prepared to argue for parliamentary and electoral reform.
May 22, 200916 yr It's time the BBC had a BNP panellist on Question Time as they're a legitimate political party. If I were them I'd take the BBC to court as they're being discriminated against. Why shouldn't their views of stopping immigration be aired? Edited May 22, 200916 yr by Crazy Chris
May 22, 200916 yr I would much rather we have a general election when proper policies will be discussed rather than votes being decided on who claimed their new John Lewis dinner plates on their expenses :o
May 22, 200916 yr It's time the BBC had a BNP panellist on Question Time as they're a legitimate political party. Are you just a complete idiot....? The BNP are scum, simple as... You just dont seem to realise who these people actually are... Well, let me enlighten you.. The BNP are basically a rebranding of the neo-Nazi National Front... They're no more "legitimate" than Combat 18, Al Moujharoun or Abu Hamza..... And it's about time they were treated in the same way, ie, to be declared an ILLEGAL organisation... You think just because they wear suits instead of drainpipe trousers, white t-shirts and bovver boots that this somehow makes these c.unts respectable....? Like hell.... They're maggots, thugs, nasty pieces of work and frankly they want shooting.... Give me a gun and I'll gladly put one between Nick Griffin's eyes...... God, and you missus is from the Phillipines as well.... Just who the fukk do you think the BNP would be sending on the first transports out of the country you fukkin' halfwit....? <_<

Why shouldn't their views of stopping immigration be aired? Fukking hell, are you being serious with that or are you just saying it to look like an idiot? The BNP of all people, "take the BBC to court as they're being discriminated against". Wow.

Why shouldn't their views of stopping immigration be aired? If you give the BNP a legitimate platform, it will be the thin end of the wedge. Bloody halfwits who don't know any better would vote for them, because they think they will kick out all the recent immigrants(only the non whites most likely), but they would try and chuck out all non white people who have lived here from the 1950's to. This is similar to what the nazis did in Europe (only not killing, but shipping them out instead). Unfortunately I got a BNP leaflet through my door yesterday and on it it has..... Trafalgar-The Somme-Dunkirk-D.Day-The Falklands......what the crap has that got to do with the Euro elections. On the topic of an election, I think a hung Parliament is not only quite likely, it might be a good idea, we really need Government by consensus atm, and less political posturing by smug Cameron and sulky Broon. The more small parties that can get it the better, excluding the BNP obviously.
May 22, 200916 yr Trafalgar-The Somme-Dunkirk-D.Day-The Falklands......what the crap has that got to do with the Euro elections. Precisely... It's just completely moronic.... I mean, could you imagine the SNP banging on about Bannockburn or Culloden to win an election in the 21st Century...? NO!! It's fukkin' ridiculous and utterly irrelevant.... The difference between the likes of Plaid Cymru/SNP and the bloody BNP is, is that the former actually have well thought out policies which go slightly beyond "kick all the wogs, spics and p@kis out"..... Christ, even UKIP are more sensible than this bunch of bloody lunatics......

They want independence at any cost.
May 22, 200916 yr TBH it wouldn't surprise me if the SNP dragged that out closer to their 2010/1 referendum date on independence. If they did, they'd be pathetic, sad b'astards, and frankly it would inspire me to vote against Scottish independence just on a general principle.... I mean, it's not as if the SNP really has to try hard to convince the Scottish people to vote for independence given what's been going on in Westminster/The City this past year let's face it.... Financial ruin inspired by greedy bankers and stockbrokers, the sheer corruption in Westminster with Labour and Tory MPs with their hands in the till..... No, they really, really DONT have to try all that hard at all..... All Alex Salmond and John Swinney would have to do would be to promise to nationalise RBS and hunt down and kill Sir Fred Goodwin..... That would pretty much guarantee an SNP landslide......

May 22, 200916 yr The thing with our banks is that they are mainly owned by the UK government. RBS is up $h!t creek and the Bank Of Scotland was forced into a merger with Lloyd's TSB, a bank i wouldn't touch with a barge poll but now own my bank  Our other 'bank' is owned by my aussie bank the NAB and is so $h!te nobody goes there, hence their survival. We could do with the RBS and BOS out of westminsters hands, they could never run anything properly [Railtrack and British Leyland anyone?] They'd get a good chunk of a yes vote from anti-english c**ts but with this recession, as long as Salmond stays in favour it's a shoe in. I have huge questions tho. What would happen to BBC Scotland? It's an english based company run by the UK government which we'd no longer be a part of, and what about our Defence? Would all Scottish military bases automatically become 'Scottish Military' and what about scottish soldiers in england and other UK bases? and on a budget level, would we get our oil and gas back? and where would we get the money from to replace the large amount of cash we get from England to survive? We do get more per head of the population than the rest of the UK.
