Posted May 22, 200916 yr A British National Party (BNP) London Assembly member who invited his party leader to a Buckingham Palace event has been asked to "revisit" his selection. The Greater London Authority (GLA) wrote to Richard Barnbrook after he chose Nick Griffin as his guest for the garden party hosted by the Queen. Mr Barnbrook has been warned that his nomination will be reviewed if he does not change his choice of guest. The BNP said Mr Barnbrook would comment on the matter on Tuesday. Like all the other members of the London Assembly, Mr Barnbrook is in line for two tickets to the party on 21 July. But in the letter, GLA deputy chief executive Jeff Jacobs warned the far-right politician to change his controversial guest or face having his nomination for the event "reviewed". He also asked Mr Barnbrook to stop exploiting the situation for "publicity". Mr Jacobs wrote: "While elected representatives may and do attend, the event is a social occasion hosted by Her Majesty and it is inappropriate to exploit this privilege for party political purposes." He added: "However, in the light of the views expressed by the mayor and chair of the assembly, reinforced at yesterday's assembly meeting, I am writing to say that the authority may need to review its position in relation to your nomination unless you revisit the selection of your guest with a view to avoiding further controversy and desist from any further publicity." 'Voluntary resettlement' London mayor Boris Johnson has accused Mr Barnbrook of turning the Buckingham Palace garden party into a "political stunt". A BNP spokesman said on Thursday: "You can't withdraw the invitation because you don't agree with someone's views. "How is it going to look if the three main political parties conspire to deny us our rights - and the people that voted for Richard?" The party campaigns for the "voluntary resettlement" of non-white British citizens back to their countries of origin. It also lobbies for the preferential treatment for British workers in the job market. Buckingham Palace has said the London Assembly is one of more than 1,000 organisations given allocations of places for individuals at the garden parties. Source BBC News Should the Queen be inviting the BNP to a garden party? If they go will this cause her massive embarrasment?
May 22, 200916 yr It IS a total stunt on the part of the BNP... If Griffin goes, the BNP crow about it on their website and pamphlets, if he's stopped, they b!tch about "censorship" of their views.... It's a no-win situtation and these opportunistic c.unts know it, and they get publicity whichever way it goes.... I really think they only thing to do with the BNP is to ban them.. And I frankly dont care how that sounds tbh.. The BNP and Far-right organisations have inspired terrorism (such as the bombing of an Asian marketplace and a gay bar by a far right militant neo-nazi), violence and murder in this country since their inception, and frankly I just dont see the justification in allowing them the oxygen of publicity or respectability.... After all, when it's Islamic groups, such as Al Moujharoun, they get banned, or if it's a nutjob like Abu Hamza, he gets put in prison... So, just why the fukk do we tolerate the BNP when their obviously inspiring hatred, violence and terror just like fundamentalist Islamic groups are....? I just see it as a total double standard, and it's really no wonder ethnic minorities feel threatened and resentful when we DONT do something about people like Griffin....
May 23, 200916 yr The Queen has not invited a member of the BNP to the Garden Party. I would expect any decent politicians to stand up and be counted and give the BNP no quarter. It's disgraceful that the BNP is a legitimate party at all. Those who incite racial hatred and violence should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, whatever their creed or colour.
May 23, 200916 yr I got a bit of laugh at the Mail's headline today - "The Fascist on the Palace Lawn"... I just wondered to myself "Hmm, are they talking about the BNP guy or the photographer the Hate Mail has sent to cover the story....."
May 23, 200916 yr tbh I am in 2 minds about this The Queen has regularly played host at lavish palace dinners for the likes of Mugabe, the president of China, George W Bush and several other of the world's most evil politicians so it is a bit hypocritical of the GLA and Mail and everyone to whine about Griffin being invited when there have been lavish dinners laid on over the years for the who's who of vile world leaders but on the other hand I don't want to see Griffin's ugly one eyed mug smiling on the palace lawn as a propaganda exercise for the BNP

These people are the worst kind of opportunist scum imaginable... Look at their ad campaign going on about WW2 veterans.... WTF????? They're using MY GRANDPARENTS' generation who fought Nazi thugs like Griffin.. My grandfather saw first hand what Hitlers fascist thugs did to the Jews, Gypsies, etc in Belsen...... And now, this neo-nazi b/astard has the nerve to exploit the generation who fought against Fascism for political capital.... Absolutely DISGUSTING.......

May 23, 200916 yr Well if a BNP politician DOES come then if he tries to talk to the Queen then she can just fend him to Prince Phillip, I'm sure they'll get on :P
May 24, 200916 yr It seems the government doesn't want to do anything to stop BNP. It's only a matter of time before they grow in popularity, and with this new BNP 'youth movement' (what parents send their kids to these things :/ ) , which seems to train kids in the same way Hitler Schools did, the BNP will only get bigger and bigger. I mean, the BNP got over 5% of the total votes in the London elections last year. That's a worrying amount of people, an amount that will only grow over time unless they are banned outright.
May 24, 200916 yr BNP Youth Movement :/ Oh dear god. Hitler's little youth club was not a good thing.

I do think the BNP should be banned If my memory serves me correctly Griffin was kicked out of the National Front for being too extreme, even a racist party like the NF washed their hands of him, there is something incredibly sinister about the guy, BNP's security is provided by Combat 18 who have a terrible history of race related violence, the BNP has very close links too to the mass murderer Johnny Adair, the BNP should be outlawed

In fact, they seem to be about the only party out there who are very obviously anti-BNP and are running that as an election platform... So, what does that say about the maintream parties who seem to be too timid to actually do anything about Griffin's band of thugs...? As far as I'm concerned the BNP is merely a rebranding of the NF... They are totally sinister, and frankly I regard them as being a flip-side to the Taliban in a lot of ways....
May 29, 200916 yr A big bravo to everyone in this thread - perhaps the first one to never offer a different perspective...and perhaps why it's dried up a little early. I wouldn't stop there though, I'd seriously ban ALL organisations based on some kind of exclusion. One that springs to mind is the deplorable orange order whose marches are no more than a day's display of hatred in my experience. I used to live in Bridgeton in Glasgow and, one day, I was able to get home because half (and I say half loosely - most people are intelligent enough not to give a $h!t) of Glasgow had blocked the streets with a bigoted cereomony dressed up as some kind of celebration. The streets were flanked with halfwits in Rangers shirts (and not something the club would ever stand for I know) chanting sectarian bile. I tried to cross the street with my flat mate and was sent packing back to where I'd come from by some red-faced bigot in a bowler hat and had torrents of abuse shouted at us by the blue and orange clad street mob...simply for wanting to go home. Seriously disturbing times...it's just so worrying to think of how much of daily life is built on hate.

Seriously disturbing times...it's just so worrying to think of how much of daily life is built on hate. Being a fellow Scot, I totally agree with what you say about the Orange Order..... They are a set of vile bigots on a par with the BNP absolutely... They're such a set of arrogant b/astards as well... Just what makes them think that they have some sort of god-given right to just march through peoples' streets spouting their rubbish where they're clearly not wanted... And just what does any of this sh!t really have to do with Scotland anyway....? People try to compare that the St Patrick's Day... Errrrr, NO.... St Patrick's day is FUN, a celebration of Irish culture, it's an event that the whole family can partake in, Orange Marches are purely about sectarian hatred. What these marches actually "celebrate" are acts of murder, slaughter and carnage against the Irish people .... Yeah, very "cultural", it would be a bit like the Germans having a "We Killed Millions of Jews Day"?..... <_<
June 6, 200916 yr ^ Well said. Any time I've been in the North of Ireland, and there's been an OO March, there's always total chaos, and generally leaves a general bad feeling about the place.
