i think it wouldn't be allowed in a normal contest and it's less controversial than a remix of a song as it's got different lyrics and as such is sung differently. As i say I consulted the other mods and some BJSC members before sending it and no one said I shouldn't send it.

OK. I don't want to create an argument or anything. But it's not very original.
The major problem with the French Release Me, is it's still half in English...

Ah, I didn't know about that.

I think that sending a foreign version of a BJSC entry is a genius idea, be interesting to see if the same people vote for it, or if it puts previous fans off or attracts new fans

very interesting experiment :D

I don't think it'll exactly put off the people who liked it when we only have foreign songs to pick from, maybe it would in a normal contest. But now it's got an advantage with me, I'm familiar with the English version so it wont need to grow etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if it won actually, considering it finished top 5 before. But I don't know if it'll get a backlash now, in which case I apologise Tom.

It wouldn't be allowed in the main contest (didn't Tron jokingly say he would send "Opium" in English at one point?) but I guess it's different here.

Ohsht, I thought I'd confirmed earlier in the week! :drama:

Turns out I didn't...I'll still join in the votes though. :heehee:

I don't think you can vote??

ask the host or a mod :)

I don't see any reason why Cremey wouldn't be allowed to vote...or even why he isn't on the list? Did he actually confirm?

For much the same reason, we've said that in a remix contest you would be allowed to send remixes of/mash-ups including former entries (provided they hadn't been sent before - i.e. you wouldn't be able to send the Hi-Bias remix of Everytime :P).

And LOL I didn't realise how much of a joke it would turn out to be :( The English version is actually hideous...they change the tune and the structure and everything. It's a complete disaster ;_;

I searched Cadbury on the comformation thread, and an artist reservation was the only thing..

:heehee: No, turns out I didn't confirm, just reserved the artist!

I hadn't really considered not being allowed to vote, but I guess because there are no semis it's different?

I'd still happily vote if allowed!

Well.. I think you should be allowed :) more points better results :D

More the merrier so hopefully you can vote (even thou normally that wouldn't be allowed) because I think it is quite cool that someone not participating is willing to listen all these foreign language songs.

Im really enjoy this spin-off...I dont the others how they feel??

I enjoy this because I feel very strong about Sichelle

I really don't think that's right, I wasn't in the contest at the time so I didn't notice... :nocheer:

Which is why it got the nono.

It's basically half a former winner with a few french words.

Belinda is entirely in a foreign language, hence it being ok'd.

As trash said, rules are slightly relaxed in spin-off's because it's not really the same as the main contest

I like 'em, especially this one but I'm kinda disappointed that I didn't have more time to go through all my music files to find songs because I have tons of non-English ones and I kinda had to choose the one I did quickly. I really like my entry but now I have thought a few others after the deadline...thou this Tiziano Ferro song was one I considered for BJSC a few contests back but went with Polarkreis 18 and Allein Allein which bombed so hopefully this will do better.

 I've really liked the songs I've heard so far, language isn't too important to me, which is why Erotas has become one of my top songs of the year .
I actively LOVE foreign language music, so this contest is actually some kind of heaven for me... it will be impossible to choose

But the thing with remixes is that they're usually SO different. I sent "Stuck On Repeat" and I'd probably give it 12 points if someone else sent it but I doubt I'd give the original (extended version) of it much or anything because it's too long and not my kind of song. But with foreign language songs, the non-english version is usually about the same (provided the artist is fluent in the language) and as we ONLY have foreign songs to vote for it's a slight advantage. I suppose it's not that different to sending a well known UK hit in Spanish (as I nearly did) on HERE at least. Shouldn't complain though, I loved "At The End Of The Day".

Perhaps that wouldn't be such a disaster.
