There was no shortage of new acoustic singer-songwriters emerging from the U.K. in the mid 2000s. However, Scottish teenager Paolo Nutini had a slightly different take on things, bearing the marked influence of Marvin Gaye and Wilson Pickett as well as some usual suspects like David Gray and Damien Rice. Nutini's debut full-length, THESE STREETS, showcased his surprisingly gritty vocals to great effect as well as the undeniably catchy and commercial aspects of his songwriting. - HMV

Paulo Nutini has to be the most pointless waste of space ever... hopefully his album will suffer the "sophmore slump".

First time I hear this song and it's dreadful

dont like this

Whoop Murray 3*-1 Chela

Is this honestly the best he could come up with for his comeback?

Sounds like a bland album filler to me. :/

I really don't like Candy. His voice just makes me feel really sorry for him, especially as he's the same guy who sang New Shoes. What has happened to him?

:(

He sounds like Bob Dylan - the drunk 70yo one of today, rather than the young(ish) decent one from the 60s

:o They said 1 new entry between 20 and 11, is this it?

Yep, Alexander is the next highest and he's top 10.

I don't see one remotely likeable quality about this song, it's just pure awfulness.

That was a bit scary then, losing his first service game :S.

I quite like it :P, there's certainly worst in the charts

Jenny Don't Be Hasty was a good song, but I thought that was by the Kooks for some reason :o

You're right about the Bob Dylan thing as well, he sounds dreadful on his new album.

4-1* now whoop

English singer Alesha Dixon got her start in the music industry as a member of the trio Mis-Teeq, with whom she released two popular albums before the group broke up. Dixon began her solo career with the singles "Lipstick" and "Knockdown," and a four-album contract with Asylum Records ensured her a foothold in the industry. Yet Dixon's real break came when she participated in the reality television programme STRICTLY COME DANCING in 2007, and was crowned winner. Her increased public profile helped boost singles from her 2008 album, THE ALESHA SHOW, into the top ten of the U.K. Top 40. - HMV

I'm glad this got at least 2 weeks Top 20.

Oh dear. What a crap start to the Top 20. He won't beat 'Rewind' or 'New Shoes' IMO.

Also he sounds very much like Leon Jackson... hopefully that's a sign as to where his career will end up in a couple of weeks/months :kink:

The worst thing about Candy is that I would like it if it was sung by someone who doesn't have that voice.

I can't get over how bad his voice has become. =|

Alesha falling quickly =/
