POLICE were called to Eltham High Street when a black man was attacked by two white thugs said to be defending the British National Party.

 

Volunteers from campaign group Unite Against Fascism were handing out leaflets on May 23 when an argument broke out between the victim and two white men who were passing by.

 

The row escalated until the two thugs began punching and kicking the black man.

 

Michael Coulston, 43, from Lewisham, saw the argument start while he was handing out flyers urging shoppers not to vote for the BNP at the European elections.

 

He said: "A couple of guys kept walking past and shouting stuff which defended the BNP. They said the BNP acts to protect the British people.

 

"But then a black guy shouted out that he was British too. An argument started and then the two white men started punching and kicking him."

 

Officers from Greenwich police were called at 1.22pm but the attackers fled before they arrived.

 

The investigation was later closed as the violent pair were not captured on CCTV, and none of the witnesses could describe them. The victim was not seriously injured.

 

A spokeswoman for Greenwich police said: "We take incidents of this nature very seriously.

 

"This kind of aggressive behaviour will simply not be tolerated and anyone arrested will be thoroughly investigated."

You dont exactly get Tory and Labour leafleters beating each other up in the streets do you....? I struggle to see what gives a load of glorified pro-violence scallies the right to determine what and who is British? They pray on white sububan areas and their paranoia. I've seen them cascading flyers around Stockport. They are insipid scum.

 

I'm glad these incidents get publicised, hopefully it'll put a lid on the votes they get in the local and general elections. What is also a little reassuring is a large proportion of their voters are old and retired people so their votes will hopefully not stick in the long term.

This is one of the reasons why we should say 'no' to the UK Independence thing I've seen on a leaflet.

These buggers go on about being "British", when what they really mean is "English", Scotland, Wales and Ireland have their OWN nationalist parties which aren't a bunch of right wing Nazi thugs and who have a bit of history... Absolutely NO ONE in Scotland or Wales wants anything to do with these insipid w/ankers, in fact when they DID try and hold rallies in Scotland, they got missiles thrown at them, and their attempts to gain a political foothold failed miserably.... They spent millions leafleting in Scotland in 2000 and got nothing to show for it..... :lol: I was a postie at the time and I refused to carry their leaflets because many of the people on my delivery route were Asian families.. No fukkin' WAY was I gonna put that sh!te through their doors..... My union backed me up....

I actually think the media and people generally should stop dignifying the BNP altogether by talking about them at all. They may well get a few seats in the European Parliament and local councils, and perhaps even one or two MPs, but I fully believe they are NEVER going to get significant influence. The vast majority of British people are just too tolerant and decent to vote for them.

That's exactly what they're trying to do though mate... They're every bit as manipulative and evil as the likes of Milosevic, Karadzic, Bin Laden and Hook Boy Hamza.... It's really not difficult for these types to turn ordinary, rational people into mad, staring-eyed lunatics who would killl, murder, rape or blow themselves up in a crowded bus or tube for some "cause" or other... But if they were banned, like certain Islamic groups have been, and also the Tamil Tigers, then it wouldn't even be an issue, and there's plenty of dirt that can be traced back to their direct influence.... I dont even view the BNP as being as legit as Sinn Fein... Sinn Fein existed long before the Provos as a force for Irish freedom and self-determination which goes back to the 18th/19th Century, they're not and never were a band of thugs like Griffin's lot.. The BNP have only ever existed merely as an extension of the NF and Combat 18, they have no real polticial points to make other than spouting a load of horse platitudes about chocolate box "britishness".....
