Posted June 2, 200917 yr Paolo Nutini’s Sunny Side Home has established a solid lead over fellow new release Love & War by Daniel Merriweather to put the Scot on course for his first ever UK number one album. The Atlantic-signed artist reached number three with his debut album These Streets in 2006, but the newly-issued follow-up is presently more than 8,000 sales ahead of its closest rival, the debut album by J/Columbia artist Merriweather. The current number one, Eminem’s Interscope/Polydor-issued Relapse, is a further 3,700 sales behind. Nutini and Merriweather’s albums lead a strong week for new releases, with Syco/RCA act Paul Potts’ new album Passione vying for a Top 10 entry, while Verve/Decca’s Diana Krall is presently in position with Quiet Nights to score her first Top 10 album since The Girl In The Other Room reached number four in 2004. Lower down, new albums from Epitaph’s Rancid, Patrick Wolf on his Bloody Chamber label and Warner Bros’s Taking Back Sunday are eyeing Top 40 debuts this coming Sunday, while sitting just outside the 40 at the moment is the new album from Hear Music/Universal’s Elvis Costello, as well as a Polydor-issued BBC collection by Siouxsie & the Banshees and a Rhino-issued best of/new studio set by The Pretenders. On the singles chart a close battle for top place could see Interscope/Polydor’s Black Eyed Peas returning to the top of the chart this weekend with Boom Boom Pow replacing the track that knocked it from the number one spot. It is presently around 1,000 sales ahead of Dirtee Skank’s Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden with 3 Beat/AATW’s Release Me by Agnes holding at three. Two new entries complete the top-five sellers at this stage in the week: Columbia act Kasabian’s Fire and Did You See Me Coming by Parlophone’s Pet Shop Boys. The veteran duo last made the UK Top 10 with I’m With Stupid in May 2006. June 2, 200917 yr Here we go again another week has gone by already will Dizzee hang on for a third week, or will BEPs make a second attempt for the #1 spot or will Agnes climb to #1, but be on the look out for a hot new track by Kasabian 'Fire' aiming for a high new entry, by crashing in at #1. Soulja Boy, Veronicas, Keri Hilson, Shontelle feat. Akon, Empire Of The Sun, Kelly Clarkson, T.I. are all looking to improve on last week's position. Then I guess everyone else will be hoping to fall down the charts... :w00t:
June 2, 200917 yr I hope that Black Eyed Peas don't return to No1 (the first time since Shakira in July 06), though it looks like they inevitably will. Hoping for Little Boots to climb and big climbers/new entries for Empire of the Sun, Enter Shikari and the Pet Shop Boys. :D Looks like Kelly will be flopping. :o Edited June 2, 200917 yr by Doctor Blind
June 2, 200917 yr I really hope Placebo can make top 40 at least, but I'm doubtful. :( And I'm hoping Patrick will do well in the albums!
June 2, 200917 yr Pet Shop Boys MUST be top 20 today, so that they can stay top 30 by the end of the week...
June 2, 200917 yr I think Patrick could have a decent position seems sales are so AWFUL. Love the record <3 Shame Kelly is going to flop but the more I listen to IDNHU, the more I see myself that it's not really that good :/ I think the BEPS will return to no1 and that Paolo will have no1 album.
June 2, 200917 yr  Had whole update typed up and then I lost it. Not in a good mood now. Agnes still 3 today too. I'll do sales and add top 80 later on now.
