June 3, 200917 yr OMG, this has got to be a joke. :o Why have they ignored Freemasons + Sophie? They love Freemasons, and have playlisted every Sophie single except for 'Today The Sun's On Us'. :( This is not good, the single is doomed now... I reckon she'll be on Strictly Come Dancing by the end of the year. *cue Murder on the Dancefloor joke* Maybe she'll do an Alesha...
June 3, 200917 yr I reckon she'll be on Strictly Come Dancing by the end of the year. *cue Murder on the Dancefloor joke* Maybe she'll do an Alesha... That would be a plausible theory if she didn't have an album planned for release around that time... and if she could dance. :P
June 3, 200917 yr Kelly out already? Radio One really shocks me sometimes, will probably be readded next week.
June 3, 200917 yr Kelly out already? Radio One really shocks me sometimes, will probably be readded next week. I've noticed they often remove songs by pop artists which are heading to flop spectacularly on their physical week, it's a shame but it's the way it goes sadly. :(
June 3, 200917 yr Author its a shame they have different rules for different songs/genres. There's no way she'll be readded though. I think La Roux was only readded cos it was a huge hit in the making and they didnt expect it to climb so much. Before that, you'd have to rewind to 2004 for some odd exclusions and readditions
June 3, 200917 yr It is just me or the first JLS single is disappointing? sounds like "1,2 step" by Ciara and not in the good way... just ok, not a HIT.
June 4, 200917 yr I reckon the addition of Love & War in R2 Playlist is the playing of any songs in the album. That new Chipmunk is seriously awful though, I heard it yesterday and I was like WTF  Even worse than 'Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer)' and 'Chip Diddy Chip' seriously. :puke2: I don't mind that track, I find it to be bit more listenable than CDC. ;)
June 4, 200917 yr That is just ridiculous that freemasons has been ignored, the song was amazing originally but they made it even better! Glad katy perry is still on, love that song loads and work is good too. Don't like the gaga song and i'm a bit over her now.
June 4, 200917 yr This week is a bit of a sad indictment on Radio 1. Here are the songs they have playlisted: * 30h!3 - Don't Trust Me * Akon - We Don't Care * Bat For Lashes - Pearl's Dream * Chipmunk - Diamond Rings * Kings Of Leon - Notion * Lady GaGa - Paparazzi * Noisettes - Never Forget You * White Lies - Death Now look here. Of the 8 playlisted songs, 6 have already been playlisted by Fresh Radio and the other two will be ingored anyway...
June 4, 200917 yr It might not "flop" flop, but cant see it going top20 without Radio 1 really. How many stations do you know support dance music that will help them get the airplay they need? Not many. And how many dance songs have done well in recent times without Radio 1? Freemasons + Sophie Ellis Bextor is playlisted on Fresh Radio, Capital FM and The Hit Music Network, Kiss Network, Galaxy Network. It's also getting a lot of TV airplay. It could still be a big hit. The same applies for Kelly Rowland + Guetta, by the way...

It could still be a big hit. The same applies for Kelly Rowland + Guetta, by the way... David Guetta is A-listed on Radio 1, no doubt it'll be huge. Freemasons maybe have been playlisted on those stations, but they hardly have the same impact as Radio 1.
June 4, 200917 yr David Guetta is A-listed on Radio 1, no doubt it'll be huge. Freemasons maybe have been playlisted on those stations, but they hardly have the same impact as Radio 1. Au contraire, my friend, the main aim for artists, upon release, is to hit the playlist of Capital, beacsue that sets a precedent for the rest of commercial radio to follow. Overall, Capital has the biggest commercial impact.
June 4, 200917 yr Author Not really, Radio 1 has by far the biggest impact on the charts. Most of the stuff Capital playlists ends up on the Radio 1 playlist. The ones that dont flop anyway. For artists to be playlisted on Capital might be a good start, but if they dont progress onto Radio 1 it means next to nothing really. All of them want to end on Radio 1's good graces.

June 4, 200917 yr Agnes - Release Me - okay song Jack Penate - Be The One - sounds a LOT like his last one I thought you find the Agnes song terrible now. :P Bit a weird opinion for BTO, I can't seem to hear it being a lot like his last one apart from the instruments. Edited June 4, 200917 yr by FunMaker11
June 4, 200917 yr I thought you find the Agnes song terrible now. :P Bit a weird opinion for BTO, I can't seem to hear it being a lot like his last one apart from the instruments. I wasn't really being serious when I said Agnes was terrible. It's grown on me a little now anyway. I just think the choruses of Be The One and Tonight's Today are extremely similar.

I would agree with this on the whole, although Radio 1 have had egg on their face a few too many times of late. Freemasons and SEB have a big enough following to see this in the top 20, but it is a shame it won't get the exposure it deserves.
June 4, 200917 yr Author I do agree it can go top20 without radio 1. The question is, if Radio 1 would playlist it, would you say it would perform the same? I dont think so.
June 6, 200917 yr Just re-checked the playlist, Mr. Hudson was actually added on 1-Upfront and Hockey isn't there. :o
