You do chat an awful lot of crap :\ Find me a performance of Amy Winehouse miming. You won't! Simple as that! Yeah she turned up late, better than cancelling gigs like Mutya did last minute whilst she was in the sugababes  Im a big Mutya fan but a load of old $h!t! And Mutya's mimed many times whilst in the sugababes! Amy's never mimed so why your jumping on her I don't know! And you don't won't her to work with her again, well I don't think Amy would wanna. The single was a MAHOOOOSIVEEEEE flop :\

Try reading it helps.

I could sit here and pick your 'post' to bits, but i really can't be f***ed wasting anymore of my time on you, so i have a suggestion.

You put me on post block, i put you on post block. That way you don't have to read any of my 'crap' and i don't have to read any of yours :)

"nothing to prove".... i fully agree with grimly, of COURSE she does, as does every artist every time they perform. theres another michael jackson parellel here, they too are 'living on past glories'. the fact that an artist was ONCE good many years ago doesnt automatically mean they are now.

You all obviously have your opinion and that's fine, there is no point in arguing about it. But you did say BRITNEY FANS, Grimly, and I am indeed a BRITNEY FAN.

You can get a decent seat at her show for a mere $40, it's not that expensive at all. The fact is I have had love for her for 10+ years, and I'm sorry I'm not gonna bitch about her not being up to par with her past tours because of all the $h!t she has been through. I think she is doing this tour to prove to the people around her that she is sane again and that if she can handle a worldwide tour then she can handle having custody of her kids again and doesn't need to be under a conservatorship. People have motives and I can understand hers.

But while she is handling her motives she is also entertaining her fans.

No need to reply to this because I won't be replying to this thread anymore. To continue arguing about this is pointless and a waste of time. I will always be a Britney fan, so it is what it is.

Yeah, blah, blah, whatever Ty, you cant handle the truth so you just run off to your little corner and cry like a wee bairn instead of actually be a bit critical of your "idol".... Plenty of acts go through the ringer, none more so than Amy Winehouse (who I'm not a particular fan of, but at least she has the guts to sing live at her shows no matter how fukked up she is...). Frankly, I'd rather someone turned up late to a show than took the p!ss....

There's a very good reason WHY I'm having a go at Britney's fans, they seem so utterly deluded as to forgive the ultimate sin any artist can commit next to plagiarism.... that is, to MIME to a paying crowd.... She doesn't deserve to have a career in music any more than the artist who plagiarises their work from others.... She disgusts me, and the fans who adore her regardless just make me laugh frankly..... Call me "ignorant" if you want, but if you tolerate this sort of sh"t, then you're a bit of a fool..... And frankly, I dont care if she's been doing this since 2004 or whatever.... Actually, it kind of makes it worse, not better, and it's certainly no kind of argument in her favour any more than MPs coming along and saying "well, we've been making these dodgy expenses claims for AGES, why are you just getting upset about it now?"....

There's a saying you might want to bear in mind - "Fool me once, shame on YOU.. Fool me twice, shame on ME....".

How can she be "entertaining" her fans if she's not singing to them....? Your argument is WEAK and you clearly have no concept of what a real "Entertainer" actually does for a crowd...... I'm frankly sick of this word being bandied around as some kind of defence for the indefencible.... Get a dictionary and actually look up the words - "Entertainer" and "Performer" and quit with the misuse.....

And, by the way, saying that an "artist" is wrong to mime to a paying crowd, aint an opinion, it should just be a given that it's WRONG to do so, it's a fundamental of any sort of genuine "entertainment" that it should be real and not faked.....

I have to agree grimly is too hard on britney & her fans who adores her regardless.

That'st the whole point though, WHY do you adore her, when she clearly has comtempt for YOU....??? Are you just masochistic....? Do you actually like having the p!ss taken out of you...?

I'm hard on Britney - well, YES, why shouldn't I be...? I'd be just as scathing against ANY act who did this, even if it was an act that I was into.... I'm no hypocrite..... I have NEVER been a fan of Brit, but I actually felt some sympathy for her when she had her problems, I'm not as petty minded as some of you lot are implying - I even posted on the Britney forum saying that I felt bad about what happened to her and hoped she would get the emotional support she needed, if I was such a petty minded individual I'd've been saying "rot in hell bitch"; but the fact that she's done this to her staunch fans who stuck by her and sent her their well-wishes is an absolute insult to them and it shows a very, very bad side to her nature, she's basically saying to you lot who cared about her that she cant be bothered to care enough to sing at her own shows....

She's proven to me that she's worthless as an artist and as a human being..... I've as much contempt for her as I did for Jade Goody...

Shame the Britney tickets thread was closed down... I didn't half get a laugh at some of the posts.... esp the "Iron Maiden are screamy bollocks" reply.... I dont even need to reply to that, Chris pretty much said everything I would have.. I do, however wish to reply to something Danieljohn said....

"And I'm still wanting to know how Britney lets her fans down? Minus the lip-syncing?"

Well, DJ, dont you actually think that this is enough of an example of Brit letting her fans down....? You dont think that this is the ultimatate betrayal of any fan..? Especially when you consider all the goodwill that Britney got during her meltdown... In fact, it actually goes way beyond her letting her fans down, it's actually an insult to every genuine performer out there who has respect for the Entertainment Industry, and respect for the professionalism of their craft..... And, it's all very well to go on about how Britney's tours have "cheap seats", that's irrelevant, the actual worth of any performer who lip synchs their whole goddam show is absolute ZERO in my book......

People like Tyler go on about being fans of Brit for 10 years... Well, I've been a fan of Nine Inch Nails for 20, and you better believe that if Trent Reznor even DARED to pull a stunt like Britney even during the ONE song, I'd drop NIN in an instant, I wouldn't be a fan of theirs anymore, because that would just be showing me that they dont give a sh!t..... But, it's highly unlikely that any "Britney Moment" would occur at an NIN show, Trent actually has respect for the fans who've made him wealthy.....

If NIN ever mimed a show, they'd likely be lynched by a mob of p!ssed-up and p!ssed off Rivetheads....

Well damn i dunno what to say in response, but you would make britney cry big tears. Shes 27 and will be 28 in december, shes been through so much she really does love her fans. She's just not that good of a singer so she mimes. Her dream has always been to become a singer and a perfromer.

She grew up listening to janet, madonna, paula, debbie gibson etc etc and the lighnin, stage production, explosions.magic tricks & clowsn are enough to distratc you from the fact that she doesn't sing live.

Seroulsy Grimly you should go see britney live (you dont have to tell yor friends) you might enjoy it alot and maybe undertsand where her fans are coming from and why the love her sooo much.

I would not spend money seeing britney but im sure she puts on one hell off a show eventhough she mimes. She is Britney Spears a future pop legend who paved the way for the the likes of miley cyrus, ashley tisdale, demi lovato and many of the other disney teen singer of today.

I'm really gonna try my hardest to be diplomatic here..... :)

Dinno, what would actually be the earthly point of me going to a Britney show....? How could I actually judge her as a performer, or a singer, or even a PROFESSIONAL artist, if she refuses to sing to me....? What would be the criteria, exactly, I could judge this show on....? I could certainly enjoy a Lady Ga Ga or P"nk show, absolutely... I may even get caught up with a Sugababes or Girls Aloud show..... Because they SING LIVE, I can actually judge their performance.... I cant make that judgement with a Britney show because she MIMES, dont you get it mate....? There is simply nothing for me to judge her show on....

It's not my wish to make Britney cry, frankly I'd rather my comments would more embarrass her into actually realising that this in not the road that she should be going down, and spur her into making the effort to SING and not MIME...... It's very, very easy for Britney to prove her detractors wrong mate..... She simply needs only to SING.... That's what she's PAID to do after all, and I really dont think I'm asking for the moon on a stick here......

It's all very well for her to say that she "grew up" listening to Debbie Gibson, Madonna, Janet Jackson... Great.... But, while she continues to MIME her shows, she's not fit to be in that company.... Paula Abdul perhaps, because she's another big, fat FAKER..... And frankly, I think she's less credible than the likes of Miley Cyrus tbh, because I'm pretty sure even MILEY performs 100% live at her gigs, Britney really should be embarrassed.....

what do you mean has always been her dream to become a singer and a performer, what has she been doing the last 10 years? oh wait she doesnt sing or perform :manson:

future pop legend? i'm no fan, but isnt she famous enough to already be a "pop legend" as $h!t as she may be.

she paved the way for miley cyrus, ashley tisdale and other Disney singers? are you just trying to give more reasons to dislike her?

To me this is what should happen at a concert

Video quality isn't amazing, their management still refuse to put out a tour DVD -_- They did the bit at the end on every single one of their tour dates

f*** a dance routine. If Britney did that ^ she wouldn't be criticised. When i first saw that on the Glasgow leg of their tour, the venue fell silent in awe of them and everyone was focused on them and those amazing vocals. I was stunned amazed, and it gave me a shiver.

That is what a good concert should be about. Not dancing and 'putting on a show' they are all second to the vocals. If you don't have vocals why bother?

Their cover of Don't Let Go is genuinely one of the best cover versions I've ever encountered which is crazy because that's such a classic and such a difficult song to do justice to. I'm sort of glad in a way that they won't record a studio version of it.

Well if you look at old clips of her when she was a kid from back in the late 80's and early to mid 90's she was soo passionate about perfroming and singing. And you are right shes already a pop legend and i really dont know what more to say lol :)

I'd love a HQ live version tho.

Oh crap i really dont know what to say to that lmao you Won :P

tbh i dont really understand why this thread is still running, why britney fans are still making lame excuses for what is inexcusable. grimly and thisispop have clearly and succinctly put their points over on why miming is wrong, and in truth, there is NO comeback to their argument, they are 100% correct.

i think britney fans ought to stop taking it personally, stop trying to be a 'hero' to their idol, take it on the chin that miming is unacceptable and that this experienced performer IS selling fans short. and furthermore, those who accept miming really ought to think carefully about the standard of entertainment that really is acceptable to them.

the way things are going the future looks very grim, with 'virtual' artists 'performing' a non existant set .... like a hologram.. beware folks, youll get what you deserve.

WOW! Sugababes actually SINGING WELL  (I've always been disappointed with the 'babes on live performances, but since Amelle's joined they sound alot better and have improved as vocalists.

To me PERSONALLY I preferred the 'About You Now' performance, coz it was lively and they got the crowd going with an absoloute pop classic (just like Britney has 'Baby One More Time, Toxic to name a few) Yes their cover was BRILLIANT, but those types of performances just bore me :( But that's just MY preferred taste. If i'm going to see acts such as Britney, Lady GaGa and Katy Perry, I KNOW they put on AMAZING shows for their fans, so if they sing live BONUS but I couldn't care less whether they do or not TBH. (It's my money and I'd prefer to see a SHOW) but with acts such as Sugababes, Leona Lewis & The Killers for example, I'd go coz I want to hear them live, and I know for SURE they always (well not ALWAYS no one is 100% perfect) put on good vocals. It's just MY preferred taste at the end of the day, and I'm sorry if I offend anyone here by saying that I don't PARTICULARLY mind my fave artist miming as LONG as they put on a f***ing good show (which Britney is good at doing).

I'm a sucker for a good ballad so Don't Let Go really draws me in.

I see where your coming from, and that it's your prefered taste. I take it you've seen GA live?

I'm pretty much the opposite from you in a way. Vocals first dance last, as opposed to wanting to see a show like you.

They really have come on so much in the last few years. I've seen them live 3 times and couldn't fault their vocals at all. My best friend who i dragged along to the first one, said as we were exiting the arena that she was coming next year :heehee: And i managed to destroy my ex's gig cred by getting her to come along in return for me going to see Nickleback. She's into stuff like Nickleback and Alterbridge and she had a great time.

you should so go to the next tour if you have the cash, it'll be worth every penny.

To quote Mr Reznor - "Bow down before the one you serve/You're gonna get what you deserve" That's pretty much my feelings towards Britney's fans tbh.... The fact that they seem to uncritically worship at the altar of this total mediocrity.... And, indeed, you may be correct in this... In Japan you already have these "virtual pop stars".... Seeing an act perform live is one the best things in the world, it should NEVER be diluted....

The excuses are indeed utterly lame.... "Oh, Britney's had problems"... Yeah, she has, granted, but, sorry to be blunt, most of those problems were self-inflicted.... And, really I think that whatever problems she was having those are kind of trumped by CANCER which is what Kylie Minogue suffered, totally UN-self inflicted.... And the contrast between the two of them since they both returned to a stage could not be more stark, imo.... Where Britney has cheated and short-changed her fans, Kylie has put on a PERFORMANCE, and acted more like a true icon and a consummate bloody PROFESSIONAL..... I'll never really like Kylie's music all that much, but she almost certainly has my respect and admiration for not only over-coming an illness but coming back from it stronger than ever, as opposed to coming back and cheating her way through her career.... It just shows whereas as Kylie has shown character and guts, Britney has shown cowardice and contempt for her fans....

I would just like to ask Britney's defenders this - If you defend this, then what else do you find acceptable...?

- The songwriter who plagiarises their work?

- The Olympic athlete who takes performance enhancing drugs to 'win' the 100 metres final?

- The student who cheats in an exam or pays a ringer to take the test for them....?

It's not like anyone is forcing fans to buy tickets to her concerts  They chose to, and they know what to expect.

I agree though, I would never pay that much money for a concert that is NOT live

thats the trouble with 'fans' though, no matter which artist they chose to idolise. 'fans' treat their idol like 'god' and in much the same way as religious people do, they ignore the faults, some of which are shocking.

thats not the point though m8..... its the acceptance of such low standards which perpetuates the further lowering of standards. a singer is supposed to sing, if their dance routines are too energetic, then tone them down! if i pay to see singing, thats what i want to hear/see.
