Exactly. Although is is largely down to the fact of how SHOCKINGLY BAD the pay is to become a nurse for example, especially taking into consideration what they do. I do think the goverment need to realise this.

If anything the BNP getting elected into the EU, could actually be seen as a good thing. I've seen/read so much outrage over the past 24 hours, from younger people especially, that maybe the message is getting through. The naivety of the British public, and the actions of the Libs, Labour and the Torries have allowed BNP to get elected. It takes two to tango afterall.

Interesting comment. I just hope it makes younger people more likely to vote next time.

A lot of people i've spoken to who didn't vote actually FORGOT to vote. Now this ranges from an 18 year old to a 74 year old. The general publicity of the EU elections was not there - instead it was on the MPs expenses.

Very true. An issue that had precisely nothing to do with the European parliament.

Not many of my friends voted, my Mum didn't vote, but the vast majority said they'd have voted if it was a General Election. They were either uninformed, there was so little publicity actually ABOUT Europe it's not really surprising (I may think he's a tit but Nigel Ferage did make a good point that last night wasn't really as about Europe as it should've been) or just didn't really care enough about the issue.
Most of my mates are over 18, but still, hardly anyone I know voted, and of those that did, almost everyone went for the Lib Dems (including myself) - young people are just so disillusioned with both Labour and the Tories right now.

I'm not going to complain about people voting Lib Dem :D

Lib Dems are my favourite out of the 3 main parties, but I won't vote for them at the moment.

The fact Gordon Brown managed to laugh them out of Parliment the other day speaks volumes.

The BNP claim that the Gurkhas are 'mercenaries'

SCUM..... <_< <_< Yeah, cos mercenaries really have ties to ONE particular country for over 120 years dont they....? The BNP pricks need to look up the word Mercenary in the dictionary..... My Grandad said the Ghurkas were the bravest soldiers he ever fought alongside, he had nothing but admiration for them... How DARE these b'astards come along and say this about these brave, honourable people.... They have absolutely no right whatsoever to speak for the WW2 generation, or the working classes.....

Insult to injury this is.... And proof that the BNP are nothing more than liars and hypocrites.... Nick Griffin even has the cheek to bleat about the BNP being "lied about" and "demonised" in the media... For once, the Media is right to demonise them, and it certainly isn't lies.... Griffin is almost certainly welcome to sue the press for slander or libel is he's so angelic and pure as he's making out....

My mum and dad didn't vote and i couldn't vote.

That was mainly out of protest at Fife Council for being arseholes tho.

Nick Griffin's been pelted with eggs and bottles outside Westminster. He was trying to hold a news conference and had to abandon it. He says the cops were there but stood by and let it continue, only moving in at the end! Whatever the views of the BNP, it's a legal political party and they have a right to hold a news conference without that happening. Shame on the cops for not acting faster.

:manson:

Good on the pigs.

Shame there wasn't any chavs with knifes about. Griffin doesn't deserve to live in our country.

Pathetic behaviour. He was democratically elected whatever you think of him or the BNP. Hope he makes a formal complaint about the police there as he's said he may, about the bottles, not the eggs. Since when did police offices on duty get to decide who to protect or not? Would they stand by if Brown or Cameron were being bottled?

actually i agree with chris on this...

the police should protect any legitimate party members of any legitimate party.

wether or not the bnp should be a legitimate party is another matter but as long as they are then they are entitled to police protection.

Griffin got what he f***ing deserved, facists dont deserve free speech.

Pity it was only eggs :(

A grenade would have been far better ^_^

Technically you are right but you were one of the one's on here slagging off Abu "hook" Hamza surely he has a right to free speech too ? but he is rotting in jail for spreading race hate and encouraging violence which is EXACTLY what Griffin is doing, Griffin is a white Hamza so if Hamza is silenced it is right that Griffin be too, infact he should be in the same cell as Hamza for inciting racial hatred

There was a ban under Maggie on Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness broadcasting on the media and the same should happen with Griffin too

LOL. As much as I agree with you, that's got to be the oxymoron of the year :P

.... but thats not quite true is it. IF griffin was spouting overtly racist comments he would have been prosecuted long since (in public anyway) as the laws on what you can and cannot say regarding race are very clear and very unremitting.

He may have been democratically elected, but another part of democracy is free speech - people have every right to protest at one of his press conferences. Maybe bottles shouldn't be thrown, but good on them for drowning out his speech and forcing him to abandon it (he'd already been forced to abandon the press conference before the egg was thrown I believe).
