June 8, 200916 yr Oh, I remember it, thanks for saving. :) I didn't actually think that Dizzee will die down so quickly while BEPs will be more consistent. I remember, lots of people predicted 4 or more weeks for Dizzee and now look what happened! :o
June 8, 200916 yr Extrodinary to believe that Mr Blobby was the first act in nearly 25 years to return to the top.
June 8, 200916 yr 01 | 03.07.1953 | Frankie Laine | I Believe - most weeks at No. 1 ever (18 weeks) I believe (pun intended :heehee:). ;) Edited June 8, 200916 yr by FunMaker11
June 8, 200916 yr :o None in the 70s and 80s :o Didn't Fugees and Baddiel/Skinner alternate due to the footy?
June 8, 200916 yr it would be good to have the chart runs for all of those, if you can. 90s 23 | 25.12.1993 | Mr Blobby | Mr Blobby 3-1-2-1-1- 24 | 06.07.1996 | Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds | Three Lions 1-2-2-4-2-1- 25 | 13.07.1996 | Fugees | Killing Me Softly 1-1-1-1-2-1- 26 | 26.07.1997 | Puff Daddy ft. Wyclef Jean | Hips Don't Lie 54-3-2-1-2-2-3-1-1-1-1- 34 | 13.06.2009 | The Black Eyed Peas | Boom Boom Pow 1-2-2-1- BEP’s example is similar S Club 7 in that both Don’t Stop Movin’ and Boom Boom Pow were held off the top spot for two weeks by a 2 week No1 (Geri Halliwell and Dizzee).
June 8, 200916 yr Certainly, since the 90's most singles that have returned to number one have done so with a decline in their sales, the exception being I think Three Lions (probably because of the football). For example both Perfect Day and Gotta Get Thru This returned to no.1 in January when sales are notoriously low.
June 8, 200916 yr Shakira's was the most impressive as the song became more popular on its second run at No.1 than on its initial one week stint...I think the sales were about the same (always around 28k-35k whilst she was in the top 3) but it certainly seemed like a bigger hit when it returned to the top
June 8, 200916 yr I remember S Club 7 fell in sales when they climbed back but then their sales increased the next week when they were back at 2!
June 8, 200916 yr Interesting that more than half of the ones in the 90s and 00s spent more than one week off the top before returning.

Funny enough its sales increased the week it dropped off no.1 and then sales fell the week it climbed back to no.1! It sales were- 32584 #1 35982 #2 32546 #2 32307 #3 29109 #1 33466 #1 28638 #1
June 8, 200916 yr Looking through the actual BBC Charts/Pick Of The Pops/Top Of The Pops Charts...The only record during the 1957 - 1993 period to return to the top was "She Love`s You", no other record actually managed it. Mainly because certain songs did not get to #1 on that "proper" chart. Records not getting to #1 on the BBC Chart (other than Record Retailer) were: Singing The Blues - Tommy Steele 1957 (BBC #2) Rockabilly - Guy Mitchell 1957 (BBC #2) On The Street Where You Live - Vic Damone 1958 (BBC #2) It`s All In The Game - Tommy Edwards 1958 (BBC #2) The Day The Rains Came - Jane Morgan 1959 (BBC #2) Mack The Knife - Bobby Darin 1959 (BBC #2) Three Steps To Heaven - Eddie Cochran 1960 (BBC #2) Shakin`All Over - Johnny Kidd 1960 (BBC #2) I Love You - Cliff Richard 1960 (BBC #2) Sailor - Petula Clark 1961 (BBC #2) On The Rebound 1961 (BBC #3) Reach For The Stars - Shirley Bassey 1961 (BBC #3) Kon Tiki - Shadows 1961 (BBC #2) Wayward Wind - Frank Ifield 1963 (BBC #2) Devil In Disguise - Elvis Presley 1963 (BBC #2) Diane - Bachelors 1964 (BBC #2) It`s All Over Now - Rolling Stones 1964 (BBC #2) Little Red Rooster - Rolling Stones 1964 (BBC #2) Minute You`re Gone - Cliff Richard 1965 (BBC #2) King Of The Road - Roger Miller 1965 (BBC #2) Legend Of Xanadu - Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick, And Tich 1968 (BBC #2) I Pretend - Des O`Conner 1968 (BBC #2) Fire - Crazy World Of Arthur Brown (BBC #2) None of those actually made #1 on the BBC Charts at all. Though some different ones did i.e. these: Ma, He`s Making Eyes At Me - Johnny Otis Show 1958 Bird Dog - Everly Brothers 1958 Are You Sure - Allisons 1961 Take Good Care Of My Baby - Bobby Vee 1961 Stranger On The Shore - Acker Bilk 1962 March Of The Siamese Children - Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen 1962 A Picture Of You - Joe Brown 1962 Please Please Me - Beatles 1963 Do You Want To Know A Secret - Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas 1963 Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown - Rolling Stones 1966 Sha La La La Lee - Small Faces 1966 This Guy`s In Love With You - Herb Alpert 1968
