'Undisclosed Desires' is by far my favourite track. :wub:

it reminds me more of a soundtrack to an epic movie ala War of the Worlds or something, but I really like it on first listen!

It's really loud, bombastic 70s/80s sounding. Not too bad, but doesn't seem like a patch on Black Hole & Revelations..

01 // Uprising. 10/10

Well we all know my opinions on this song basically. I just love almost EVERTHING about it...it's lyrics are very clever in the verses. (Not particularly in the chorus. :lol:) Really like the second verse in particular, love the lyrics in this verse and also the added guitar that comes in makes it that extra bit special from the first verse for me. =]

 

02 // Resistance. 10/10

This has got to be the BEST track on the whole album. :cloud9: Love the chorus and the bridge. =] And the piano in the verses. :wub: Once again, lyrics are very good... =] It goes a bit slow before the final chorus...but that's its only *possible* flaw in my opinion...personally i like it haha. XD

 

03 // Undisclosed Desires. 08/10

This one kinda has a subtle charm to it. I really like the sort of bubble thingy thats going on throughout the song. =] It's far from my favourite on the album...but still is a good song. Would be nice as a single as it represents something commercial that's a bit different from them. =D

 

04 // United States Of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage). 09/10 (+06/10)

Well...i've voiced my opinion on this song already as well. =P It's a great track...with a kind of arabic vibe to it...whilst also sounding like Queen haha. XD Like the piano led opening and the lyrics are simple...but effective. :) As for Collateral Damage...i wouldn't say it's the best moment of the album...but it's a nice little break sorta thing. =D

 

05 // Guiding Light. 07/10

It has a sorta stadium feel to it. This is an ok song...but not up to the standard of alot of this album. =[ I think it's slightly worse than Undisclosed Desires...but it's still good. =] There's not too much to this song though imo...

 

06 // Unnatural Selection. 09/10

This song is AMAZING. I wouls regard it as the second best on the album i think...if only it wasn't all boring and slow for a HUGE chunk in the middle. =/ Maybe a minute at most woukld be okay...but for the length it sustains. =/ Needs to be like 2-3 minutes shorter than it is. Perfect excuse to make a Radio Edit. =P I LOVE the bridge and the chorus. :cloud9: Nice and heavy in parts...reminds me of some of the stuff i would have listened to when i was 14. XD

 

07 // MK Ultra. 10/10

Sounds like it's gonna be like some electro sorta song at the start. :P It's one of the hidden pleasures of the album for me... <3 I could understand though if others don't see the amazingness in this. =P I really like the chorus...it's not particularly catchy...but it's really good. =] I like it in the parts where it goes all crazy like haha. XD

 

08 // I Belong To You (+Mon Cœur S'ouvre À Ta Voix). 10/10 (+02/10)

Love the Piano music in this. <3 It for some reason makes me imagine someone in a hot air-ballon with roses and stuff next to some old building in Italy... o_O =P It's a really nice song. =] I take it the middle bit is the Mon Cœur S'ouvre À Ta Voix bit. :lol: Since he starts talking in some other language and it goes all boring haha. XD A smile arrives on my face when I Belong To You comes back. =]

 

09 // Exogenesis: Symphony, Pt. 1: Overture. 09/10

It progresses a bit as it goes along...i would personally like it to be slightly shorter...and the last minute or so come quicker. XD But it is a nice track. =]

 

10 // Exogenesis: Symphony, Pt. 2: Cross-Pollination. 09/10

Flows perfectly into this. <3 Starts off with a bit of Collateral Damage does it not. =0 I have to say...preferred this section to the first one...there is more variety in this one. =] The piano...then the quiet section...then the louder bit...then we go into the rest of Collateral Damage...Fizzles out to a complete stop too early though imo...

 

11 // Exogenesis: Symphony, Pt. 3: Redemption. 07/10

This one takes a while to regain back the lost steam in the last section unfortunately...by which time i will probably have lost interest...which is a shame because this part is beautiful...uplifting in a kind of odd way...whilst also touching. Once again fizzles out too early for the tracks length...but that's okay because it's the end of the album. =P

 

Overall...find the album absoloutely stunning and imo it could well grow to become one of my favourite albums ever. <3 It's epic moments more than make up for the dull moments...so all is forgive. =] Can't wait till i get my hands on a copy of the CD. XD (No money at the mo. :cry:)

Black Holes & Revelations still remains their best abum for me. :)

I think this slots in between that and Origin Of Symmetry for me. :D

Then we have Absolution, followed by Showbiz (which i couldn't really get into...so didn't bother buying. :()

 

Excellent follow up to the amazing BH&R for me though. :wub:

Didn't like the album at first, now i absolutely adore all the songs so far <3 Undisclosed Desires and Unnatural Selection are my faves. Uprising is probably in the Top 5 least faves on the album :(

It's a decent album, a couple of superb tracks (namely 'Unnatural Selection' and 'Guiding Light'), but on the whole, it's one of their weakest albums. Behind everything barring Showbiz.

Hmm... I think 'Undisclosed Desires' should be the obvious choice for next single, if not, then 'Guiding Light'. :thinking:

Obvious choice would be Resistance. If not, then UD (to get some Britney fans :lol: ). Okay, I'm kidding. :D

'Unnatural Selection' reminds me of 'New Born', absolutely brilliant.

 

I am actually very impressed with this album, for some reason it's better than I was expecting.

im loving 'Unnatural Selection', maybe best on the album.

oh and epic win for the Muse guys for getting Allesandro Cortini to play a few live shows and jools holland with them.

I've been racking my brains trying to think what the new Muse song sounds like and it hit me in the pub tonight (after me and my marvellous two quiz colleagues Sheila Blige and Tanya Hyde won not one but two rounds) it sounds like Ultravox from the 80's ... which is probably why I like it.

Dunno if i'm gonna like this album as Muse seem to be trying to get more epic with each album to the point where some of the songs are just stupid now, I miss the songs they used to write like unintended.
