If you would actually care to look, I think you'd find that they've always been successful chart-wise.

sorry then change the word sales to airplay/promo/commercialisation.thats what my point meant!!

I heard a new Biffy Song yesterday, 'Many of Horrors' I think it was, was awful, talk about isolating your older fans. ugh what happened to them :(

'Many Of Horror (When We Collide)' is brilliant! It's by far my favourite on their (surprisingly amazing) album.

Anyway, they're gonna "sell-out" even more as the fantastic 'Bubbles' is supposedly the next single (Due for release 26th April!) :D Brilliant choice. The singles this era have been pretty much PERFECT imo. They may have sold-out or whatever, but as long as they're getting the new fans as well as keeping most of the older fanbase, and selling copies of their album (which is happening) then I don't think they give a shit tbh.

'Bubbles':

A 'new' song Chris... Really? :( Anyways, this album is perfect. So amazing Bubbles is getting a release. One of the best songs on the album. <3

'new' as in on the newest and current album, and by looking at replies in this thread it was the last single, so it seems like many of horror is pretty new to me. why does new mean within the last week to you?

why does new mean within the last week to you?

Does the reason for this have to exist?

I was in shock Chris didn't like this album. :(
it's because it's commercialised radio 1 $h!t, they used to do something interesting with their music, now it's the same old boring bollocks as like all alt rock bands do.
They need to give 'Bubbles' some backing and Radio 1 need to stop bumming 'Many of Horror' to death. I have a horrid feeling if it flops they'll do sometthing stupid like re-releasing 'Mountains' when they should really just put 'Born On A Horse' out in July/August and be done with this era.

Radio 1 will whore any Biffy track at the moment. So they're safe I reckon. If they get a 4th Top 40 hit from the same album, they'll be pleased I reckon. (They haven't done that before have they?) I heard on Radio 1 once that someone who works for Radio 1 is actually related to someone from Biffy (It was someone "behind the scenes" which probably was the reason for their "bumming of 'Many Of Horror'" :P So pleased that was a big hit for them though. Stunning song.

They already have four...

#5 Mountains

#10 That Golden Rule

#17 The Captain

#20 Many of Horror

and maybe, if I was guessing...

#26 Bubbles

#38 Born On A Horse

Puzzle got five, with Saturday Superhouse and Living Is A Problem... before the album and Folding Stars, Machines and Who's Got A Match after.

Ah right. OK. Thanks for correcting me. Is this their most successful era do you think? Or do you think it's not doing that well for Biffy? I've not been following them before this era. :P

^^ I'd say it's definitely their most successful era so far...

It's their most successful chartwise anyway.

Far from their most successful artisticly.

Only Revolutions is on its way to matching Puzzle's 250k-ish sales. It will be their first platinum album and they've scored two top 10 singles and two more top 20s, one of which has stuck around longer than anything other than 'Mountains'.

It sets them up nicely for the next album, and bar Muse they are by far the most successful 'hard' rock act around. Obviously they were going to get stick for their new direction but for me the album is far more focused than Puzzle and, as a 'pop' album, is very very good.

I think the next single is Cloud of Stink, or that's what I've heard anyway.

If that's true, I doubt it'll chart very well at all.

Agreed, that's suicide. Only Born On A Horse or possibly Know Your Quarry would do anything charts-wise.

similar to what I said in a previous page I think, Only Revolutions is better than Puzzle which itself is a good album. OR seems to flow a bit better and have better songs for me though. However, if Blackened Sky hadn't been ignored by most of the media then it would have probably been similar to Puzzle/OR in sales because songs like 27, 57 and Justboy were ready-made singles. The only difference "artistic" movements for Biffy are Vertigo Of Bliss which for me still remains their best album but that album would have done absolutely nothing chart wise because it's very experimental and probably you'd have to like to the harder Biffy sound rather than what Puzzle/OR is now. Infinity Land was moving away from VOB but it's probably still more experimental than BS was

probably better that Biffy were ignored for years by the media though as Blackened Sky being a hit might not have resulted in VOB seeing the light of day and that is the best stuff era wise that Biffy have done, the album and the b-sides B) That's not to say I don't still enjoy Puzzle and OR though because they are very good albums, just not as good as aforementioned ones.

next single has to Bubbles to be honest, it would do a killing on radio and continue the album sales. Cloud Of Stink would get playlisted on Radio 1 but I doubt any of the network stations would care like they did with Many Of Horror

Well... their duet with Marina was disappointing and a big let down :(

Marina's voice didn't suit 'Many Of Horror' AT ALL! :drama:
