What gets me though, Umbrella had sales attached to it yesterday, it did 5.5k, the question is... where on earth did those sales go, you can't just strip a track of its sales, they must have gone somewhere, plus its still showing on iTunes, it has not been removed, people are still downloading it, so where are the sales going.  completely madness.

I have a theory -

I believe that if a song sells then it should chart/rank depending on the sales (as it does already). So the managers or whoever honestly can't be able to remove it from the overall chart if its selling well. Or songs which would have charted below it initially would get a peak higher than they actually should. Therefore, i think Umbrella will chart on Sunday but just won't be included in the midweeks. The most Rihanna and co could do supposedly is sew (sue? ah i don't know) JLs if they used the song without permission.

But that doesn't answer where have all the sales have gone for the track, people are still downloading the JLS version, the sales must be there, its logical, if I went to download the track, that's a sale. The plot thickens...

I guess they are now not chart eligible now.

It's been removed Martin, end. The sales haven't vanished, it's just been removed from the chart. I have no idea what this whole "3" thing is about but I think it's pretty obvious to everyone that those aren't sales.

Well, it wasn't No 1 for 10 weeks for nowt :) Modern classic..

Totally true and it's one of a few songs i like that has created global hype as i normally hate songs that seem to grab everyone's attention (Just Dance, Poker Face, Hips Don't Lie, I Kissed A Girl etc) :)

LOL it confuses matters, but they are sales according to the database lol.

I'd say just a few random ones that slipped through, no big conspiracy.

Its gone and I doubt itll be back now anyway <_<

^ It was around 8.5k yesterday Martin lol.

Well... its still amounts to a lot of thin air :heehee: :o

If Umbrella on its own was removed, then all of the physical single sales of Beat Again should be removed too, because Umbrella is the b-side of the single.

Incorrect. Yesterdays sales where already an issue, they where much higher then iTunes position would indicate.

I reackon(as it logically fits the situation) there was loads of multi buying going on, i.e fans(or insider) buying the same copy over and over and over. Such things at first result in misleading position(that was situation yesterday with a Top10 when iTunes only show #20 as very best) and so such buying is noticed, it breaks the rules and so today it's eventually removed.

The top 3 in physical sales so far this week (according to Planet Sound):

1. JLS - Beat again (3,809 copies)

2. Green Day - 21 Guns (477 copies)

3. Stone Roses - Elephant Stone (406 copies)

This sounds the most plausible reason to me - I don't buy the copyright reason, the fake version of When Love Takes Over was allowed to chart and surely that is in more of a dubious position copyright wise than JLS's cover...very odd situation all round. It would be helpful if when disqualifying a track a reason was given as to why...

It will, such information normally arrives after Sunday's chart.

Ah right, wasn't aware of that. Won't stop the speculation on here of course

OK JLS fans brace yourselves...

Umbrella is gone :o

Nowhere in top 200...

WHAT?! :arrr: :arrr: :arrr: :arrr:

Ry Ry do you know where James Morrison - Nothing Ever Hurt Like You is & Red by Dan M :D

Was it even released this week. I can't find the single version on iTunes or the Physical on HMV

Songs can also enter with the album version, but I don't think James Morrison could be very high, maybe somewhere at the bottom of the top 200.
