Posted July 14, 200917 yr X Factor runners-up JLS are poised to debut at number one on the UK singles chart this Sunday after presently outselling their nearest three rivals combined. The group’s Epic-issued debut Beat Again is around 28,000 sales ahead at this stage in the week of closest challenger Cascada whose AATW/UMTV single Evacuate The Dancefloor remained at number one at the weekend. The band’s cover of the Rihanna hit Umbrella is also likely to start its life in the Top 10, giving JLS the distinction of instantly having two Top 10 hits in their first ever week on the chart. As Boom Boom Pow continues to drop, Interscope/Polydor’s Black Eyed Peas should make a quick return to the top five, as the follow-up I Gotta Feeling is positioned to move up from its current chart position of 10. Chicane’s independently-released new single Poppiholla is set to debut in or around the Top 20 to give him his first Top 40 hit in more than three years, while RCA’s Beyonce will claim one of the chart’s fastest movers with Sweet Dreams on course to move into the Top 20 from 52 where it debuted last week. On the albums chart Atlantic artist Paolo Nutini will follow an appearance on Jonathan Ross’s BBC1 chat show last Friday with what will be a move back into the top five for his second album Sunny Side Up. It dropped 7-12 on the chart last week. Although Michael Jackson’s grip on the albums chart appears to be loosening this week, it is still likely he will claim four of the Top 10 when the new chart is announced, including the RCA-issued The Essential collection remaining at one. Island’s Florence + The Machine’s Lungs, which debuted at two last week, is a good bet to remain in runners-up position. There are presently no brand new albums sitting in any of the Top 10 positions, according to retail reports, although Columbia act Dead Weather are just outside with Horsehound. Lower down, new albums set to debut in the Top 40 will include new studio sets from Island’s VV Brown, Atlantic’s Billy Talent, Roadrunner/Warner’s Devildriver and Sony’s Daughtry. July 14, 200917 yr Notable new releases this week from The Dead Weather WTF are they - I've never heard of them, and seen no publicity??

July 14, 200917 yr http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetail...&sku=950668 OK, so I know who they are now - but don't new groups need publicity, like releasing singles, or telling the mainstream they even exist? :P
July 14, 200917 yr JLS don't deserve to be number one in my opinion, I liked the song at the start but now it feels so old and boring and I'm fed up of hearing about them and seeing them all over the TV and radio plugging to death.... Also, I think I'll boycott the chart show on Sunday, I don't think I'll make it through 3 hours of texts reading 'JLS have to be number one cos theyre fit' that will irritate me loads, that and Fearne and Reggie need the sack!!!!! But on a more positive note Chicane will be top 40 YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping it does well i love that track
July 14, 200917 yr that and Fearne and Reggie need the sack!!!!! How can you tell them they are sacked, when they are never *there*... :w00t: Edited July 14, 200917 yr by vidcapper
July 14, 200917 yr JLS will be #1 which is a shame because its just another standard fly by night r&b song, anyone could have sung it. Nevermind.
July 14, 200917 yr JLS will be #1 which is a shame because its just another standard fly by night r&b song, anyone could have sung it. The sooner the chart-distorting XF is history, the better!
July 14, 200917 yr Notable new releases this week from The Dead Weather WTF are they - I've never heard of them, and seen no publicity?? I've noticed the album has been doing well on iTunes. Clearly you are NOT their target audience :P
July 14, 200917 yr Author Ryan is not with us today for the time been, should have the charts from MW soon, Ryan can add sales later when he is available to come online. Pending my internet does not disconnect :heehee:
July 14, 200917 yr When was the last time we had a no.1 no one saw coming? Wonderful World by Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy?
July 14, 200917 yr When was the last time we had a no.1 no one saw coming? If you're suggesting that no one saw JLS being #1, then I completely disagree.
July 14, 200917 yr The sooner the chart-distorting XF is history, the better! I see where you are coming from, but "Beat Again" is actually nothing to do with X Factor or Simon Cowell. All the other runners up had the same opportunity, but JLS will be a huge band who will have a string of big hits and number 1 albums because they sing very well together and seem to come up with original material. I took my daughter to see them supporting Lemar at the Albert Hall and they were brilliant even though they only performed 5 songs. I still stick to my prediction of around 130k sales and 2 weeks at the top.
