after the drama of XV, I will only now seriously consider leaving this contest if;

 

1) real life takes over so much that I don't even have time to properly listen to the songs

2) cheap gets out of hand - i.e. if every contest was like XIV, I would leave without a doubt

3) I stop discovering great new music

4) Buzzjack closes down

 

hopefully none of these eventualities will happen any time soon

I will only leave if

 

1] Buzzjack becomes no more [but sad as this sounds i would probably make a BJSC forum on a free server :drama:]

2] The cheap becomes so much that i'm one of the only one's sending unknown stuff and i'm DNQing all the time

1) I doubt many other people would be able to find it/know about it, you'd be playing by yourself :heehee:

Perhaps ban all female pop soloists :lol: I don't think many people would stay if that happened

1] I'd be on the ball, i imagine we'd get some notice so i'd post the link everywhere across this forum and give it to the few i have on msn :lol:

 

It's sad that i've given this so much thought in the past 5mins.

Absolutely agree. But in 4th case you'd not have a choice really :heehee:

1) I don't reckon we could get more than 15 or so participants...people would just move on I reckon if BJ shut down

2) I try not to reminisce, I'm not overly fond of these 'old days', I like my more recent entries more than I ever did my first load of entries (Delta and Sara aside :heart:)

Would it be all to much in having 3 semis', with equal amount of final participants as we usually do, so that there are fewer from each of the 3 semis' that is qualifying for the final, and so on making a possibility for more people joining this contest, and everyone still having the same chances of getting into the final?

 

If it feels too much to handle points for 3 semis', then the process of hosting can be done in duos only in the semi finals, with the 1 and 2 place co-operating, or the 2-3 place if the first place doesn't want to etc..

 

 

Just a thought, really, since we are trying to resolve this only thinking about the two semis' and there hasn't appeared a good of a solution from this point of view as of yet.

I explained before how we'd be mad to have 3 semis as they just wouldn't work. Realistically the final cannot contain more countries than it does now.

 

So we have a final of 29 countries. One hosts and autoqualifies. If we have 55 countries who want to enter it leaves 54 plus a host. You can divide 54 by 2 or 3 to make 2 or 3 semis.

 

If we have two semis there will be 27 countries in each, with 14 going through giving a final of 29 (the maximum), meaning 51.85% of countries make the final from each semi.

 

If we have three semis there will be 18 countries in each, of which 9 will qualify, giving a final of 28. This means that 50% of countries make the final from each semi.

 

So by having three semis you have less chance of making the final, as well as less chance of being in the same semi as your favourite songs and less chance of your song being in the semi with the people which love it most.

 

How can anyone realistically support that?! Especially when most people agree that having more countries not qualifying than are should never happen...
