Michael Jackson’s The Essential is expected to remain at number one this coming weekend as a newly-issued retrospective by the singer is set to make a high debut on the UK artist albums chart.

The RCA-handled The Collection, which brings together his albums Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous and Invincible in a five-CD package, is in a two-way fight with Jordin Sparks’ Battlefield to claim highest new entry honours on the forthcoming chart.

The Collection will join five other Jackson albums in the Top 20, according to retail reports, led by The Essential at one and taking in Thriller, Off The Wall, Number Ones and The Motown Years, the latter a UMTV/Island release credited to Michael Jackson & The Jackson Five.

Following Atlantic artist Paolo Nutini’s Sunny Side Up returning to the Top 10 last week after he performed on Jonathan Ross’s late night BBC1 show, the Ross effect now looks to be having the same positive impact on the Vertigo/Mercury act Noisettes’ album. Sales flashes show that after their performance on the chat show last Friday their album Wild Young Hearts has moved from 16th place to be the eighth biggest seller in the week so far. At the same time their track Never Forget You is showing a 64% week-on-week increase in sales and should move into the Top 20 of the singles chart at the weekend.

Apart from the new Jackson collection and RCA act Jordin Sparks’ new album, it is a fairly quiet week for newly-issued albums, although there should be new entries lower down the chart on Sunday from the likes of UMTV’s Rhythms Del Mundo, Mercury’s Kid British and Parlophone’s Jonsi & Alex.

On the singles chart Interscope/Polydor’s Black Eyed Peas are chasing a successive number one after Boom Boom Wow as they become the closest challengers to Epic’s JLS who debuted at the top last Sunday with their first single Beat Again. Meanwhile, JLS’s version of the Rihanna hit Umbrella is showing a 107-24 place move in the week to date.

The only track to penetrate the Top 10 positions so far this week is the RCA-released Sweet Dreams by Beyonce, rising from its current weekly chart position of 13 to 8, while new arrivals to the chart this weekend will include Island artist FrankMusik’s Confusion Girl and Supernova by Rock-a-Fella/Mercury’s Mr Hudson featuring Kanye West.

Its not that hard.

[05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude.

[06] Do not use Text Talk.

[07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision.

[08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see.

[09] Finally, please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures.

[*]Album chart is pretty dead this week, expect Michael Jackson to knock himself off for the third time with a brand new set of albums entitled The Collection

That would be the 'brand new set' of very old albums? :w00t: The same ones people have already been heavily buying for 3 weeks...

Also, it retails at over £20, so I can't see it going T5.

We're probably going to see quite a few tracks going up and re-entering with the NOW 73.
Noisettes have performed NFY on some TV show which has made them climb to 16 on iTunes, and they are on NOW!73 too... I hope they go top 20 this week

HMV online have got it for £17.99.

Any my local HMV have stopped selling singles, goodness knows where else you can buy them these days, apart from online. I can't believe it the physical is dead, I used to buy loads when I was younger.

Noisettes are everywhere now with NFY:

T4 In The Park

Jonathan Ross

Graham Nortorn Saturday Thing

And they have been getting lots of airplay now

Hopefully top 20 for them this week :)

Ours still had them, yesterday.

It's the chicken & egg situation again - would people still buy them if they *could*?

it's under £17 in Asda, bargain!

Update done - and theres no missing data reported whatsoever today - no even the usual bits from hmv.

JLS Umbrella at 24 :o Weeeeird!

Jordin nearly top 10 :cheer:

I dont get that - how the hell can Mr Hudson only be at 28 when he debuted in the top 20 and climbed to 2 in a matter of hours?

Edited by ElectroBoy

There may be no missing data, but maybe database error. :kink:

Anyway, two re-entries what I can see.

Great to see Jordin near the top 10 with the single and album! It would be amazing if she could reach top 10 with both by Sunday. :cheer:

Why didnt Umberella chart sunday as they would have been top 20 for sure

Yes la roux back top 20

Well done noisettes and lilly
