You have my blessing.

I'm not failing again because i'm in a semi with every 'indie' country

I don't think you can start 'fixing' semi finals tbh and purposely splitting people up. Seems completely unfair imo, and it's obviously just coincidence that certain blocs have ended up in the same semis.

I agree. I know it already happens, but I don't like the idea of being pigeon holed by being put in a semi because I'm sending a certain type of song or because the host thinks I'm likely to vote for a certain song. It should be kept random.

I'm not really sure what we can do about this. I thought the waiting list was a good idea, but it seems a shame if older countries can't compete because they missed a contest. I thought Simon missed out last time for not voting in XVII, or did he vote in the end and he just didn't want to take part last month?

That's probably why he didn't enter XVIII, because he was banned :P

That's what I was suggesting, though I don't know if Simon knew that? He didn't seem to show any interest in sending anything last month but I don't know if someone told him elsewhere about it.

Yup.

Not voting comes with consequences

Yes, but I don't know if banning him last month because he didn't vote and then not letting him join XIX because he didn't enter last month makes sense at all. That screws him out of two contests.

It wasn't intentional to 'screw' him out of XIX.

At the end of XVII we didn't need a waiting list.

An idea we could consider...I'm not denying that new countries can bring something to this contest though, despite my complaints about the problems they cause :P

A lot of the "new" countries arent even established buzzjack users, they're just random new people signing up. Not exactly users we know that we're curious to see what they send and how they'll do.

I wouldn't care if we shut down the "New Country Registration Thread" :kink:

Yes, but do you not see how this situation could possibly be an exception? Being banned from the contest for a month, I probably wouldn't be using this forum much, leading me to miss this big change. So it's a little unfair to come back and find you can't enter this one either.

I just think it's a little harsh that it was a forced leave from the contest and henow has to go on the waiting list because of that. I reckon he should be an exception to the rule in this case, it gets a little harsh otherwise. Now, if I don't vote in this contest, not only do I miss the next one but I get put to the bottom of the waiting list, meaning I'll probably miss the one after that too.

I agree completely with this. I get the waiting list thing but I feel the rules should have some exceptions and Simon's case is definetly one of them imo.

Yeah I think Simon should be an exception to the rule... and indeed everyone who gets banned from a contest.

Well we'll see what Tyron and James think about it. Me and Phil are clearly differing in opinion on this.

Really like your entry on first listen Cremey! :o

I'm wondering why I'm not surprised

And Addy, unless you come last in your semi, it is incredibly unlikely you will ever have to go on the waiting list :P

thanks God this rule was not eligible in XI Kardinal Offishall/Akon :heehee:

Well, ducking out of a contest because one doesn't really feel like entering apparently isn't an option any more, so here I am for BJSC XIX :)

I haven't really been able to think that much about potential songs, especially not ones that could get good results, so I'm just going to send one of my favourite songs of all time.

It's a version of the song I just recently discovered, as performed by a previous winner of the contest.

I don't think it will do all that well, but the contest is about sharing music you love, so hopefully a few people will enjoy it.

I'll post my entry tomorrow :)
