Frankmusic fall outside the 30, as do MJ (Off The Wall), and Take That. A climb for Little Boots. Other entries via the re-mastered x 2 Neil Young (Harvest & After The Goldrush). Not forgetting the Pussycat Dolls (Doll Domination) Last week we got 7 in the 10, 18 in the 20, 27 in the 30, and 39 in the 40 on the Combined Albums. On the Singles front we had 9 in the top 10, 17 in the 20, 28 in the 30, 38 in the 40, and 48 in the 50. So, it was just 22 (Lily Allen), and the re-entry of Take That we missed on. Back in 1989, Radio Luxembourg and Shaun Tilley came up with these singles: 01 01 SWING THE MOOD - JIVE BUNNY 02 02 WOULDN`T CHANGE A THING - KYLIE MINOGUE 03 06 POISON - ALICE COOPER 04 04 FRENCH KISS - LIL LOUIS 05 05 TOY SOLDIERS - MARTIKA 06 03 YOU`LL NEVER STOP ME LOVING YOU - SONIA 07 07 DON`T WANNA LOSE YOU - GLORIA ESTEFAN 08 14 LANDSLIDE OF LOVE - TRANSVISION VAMP 09 NE YOU`RE HISTORY - SHAKESPEAR`S SISTER 10 NE TOO MUCH - BROS 11 NE PURE - LIGHTNING SEEDS 12 08 ON OUR OWN - BOBBY BROWN 13 09 LONDON NIGHTS - LONDON BOYS 14 10 AIN`T NOBODY - RUFUS/CHAKA KHAN 15 NE LOSING MY MIND - LIZA MINNELLI 16 11 DAYS - KIRSTY MACCOLL 17 12 KICK IT IN - SIMPLE MINDS 18 NE BLAME IT ON THE BOOGIE - BIG FUN 19 13 DO YOU LOVE WHAT YOU FEEL - INNER CITY 20 NE DO THE RIGHT THING - REDHEAD KINGPIN AND THE FBI Did Jive Bunny ruin 1989, for you?! Swing The Mood became the biggest seller of the Year at this point, until Blackbox beat it. Kylie really had #2itis! The pretty big come back for Alice Cooper. French Kiss was a no no, with all that heavy breathing edited out on most stations. The video featured a clockwork figure playing the cymbals! Step by step we all fall down like "Toy Soldiers" sang Martika. A song that took us into the Autumn. Sonia took another SAW product into the chart, sounding like she could have been anyone in the Stock Aitken And Waterman vault. Gloria Estefan was still pumping them out. Transvision Vamp and Wendy James bubble was about to burst. Shakespear`s Sister were definately not "History". Bros were about to be, although managed to stick about until 1991. Why didn`t the Lightning Seeds do better with "Pure?" It was all over the airwaves. Bobby Brown did the theme to Ghostbusters 2. A bit of a kind of "Gay" line-up via London Boys/Liza Minnelli/Big Fun...Liza (of course) with a little help from those other not so hetero Pet Shop Boys! A touch of the oldies re-mixed via Rufus/Chaka Khan circa 1984. Kirsty MacColl covering the Kinks 1968 #13 hit. Would Simple Minds beat Belfast Child? No, they wouldn`t, as "Kick It In" proved. Inner City had a better 1988, as 1989 saw them slip. Over to New York, for Redhead King Pin...David Redhead Guppy led the group, and also played keyboards. Still around today. You may remember he played on the Nas track "Where Are They Now" in 2006. Just ahead of the singles, some "Pops To Flop"....3 Songs that will flop. With the videos courtesy of Mr Tom Kay. Thanks Tom! Got to stick in "Gold Digger", and the Dolly Rockers...the 2nd single from the London/Leeds girly threesome (Released 31st Aug): 0Y-tT9fs5Eo How about Jonas Brothers "Fly With Me"...the New Jersey boys, flop 2 (released 17th): un-KTpvCPXo I really hoped Mr Andre would flop into obscurity with this (Behind Close Doors), but as it is already in the top 10 it was wishful thinking!...last heard chatting to Mark Goodier during last week on Smooth Radio, where both talked utter rubbish, as Andre`s ego swelled when Mark said "I`m sure it`s on it`s way to #1"...Tongue in cheek was it Mark?! RuWRDKdwZT8 Flop of this week, will surely be Zarif "Over"...the lady of Scottish/Iranian descent brought up in Harrow. August 10, 200916 yr Woo, go KoL! :w00t: Not that exciting a chart this week though... Peter's the only one to watch, Calvin has 3 or 4 cemented depending on Peter going further or dropping, I can't see Calvin going top 2.
August 10, 200916 yr #16 wouldn't be too bad for Bloc Party, it'd be the same as Mercury's peak. I'd love it to reach top 15 though!
August 10, 200916 yr I just hope Bloc Party are higher. The Album chart this week looks so poor hardly any new releases.
August 10, 200916 yr The Album chart this week looks so poor hardly any new releases. There are three new ones in the top 30 (Sergio Mendes, Temper Trap, Stone Roses)... which is equal to the total number of new entries top 100 last week (Frankmusik, The Twang and Wild Beasts). Stone Roses isn't technically new though as it is a re-release...
