But NOW 73, and Big Tunes still selling bucket loads. Talking of the Jackson, there I was on Wednesday talking to a radio colleague in the States. He was telling me this rather long story of how the MJ death was actually a fraud. Apparently, (and I think I heard similar about Elvis, years ago) when the ambulance took "Michael" away it was actually someone else. All the events were carried out by Michael`s doctor. Michael is still alive and well, and due to under go more plastic surgery to make him look less like Michael Jackson. This apparently will enable him to walk the streets without being recognised, and lead a quiet life with a never ending bank account in a different name....So, what did I think of this story? Well, who knows...put the facts together, and you have a typical U.S. Celebrity "death". Just like Elvis before...only a close handful of people would have seen Michael in the coffin. It may have not been him (with many look alikes around). The answer will never be proved either way. Actually, the reply Brian got stated that Big Top 40 could not possibly play all the Big Top 40 because of the current "play it safe" playlists of Independant Stations, that would never play Florence, the Prodigy, or Pendulum. Steve also did say that he agrees with Brian, and Commercial Stations doesn`t offer a good variety of music. Of course, Steve is right...but only when talking about stations that take the Big Top 40. There are a handful of stations available that do not take that excuse for a chart show, and if they do not take the programme, then they probably are better Radio Stations...i.e. Reading 107, KCFM, Radio Jackie, and various others, if you can find them! Just for Brian, who wanted to compare Big Top 40/Radio One`s Top 40 to the complete iTunes Top 40 of the entire week...here it is (courtesy of John at Apple...who was pretty co-operative after a few drinks!) 01 02 BLACK EYED PEAS 02 01 TINCHY/AMELLE 03 NE CALVIN HARRIS 04 NE PETER ANDRE 05 03 MR HUDSON 06 04 BEYONCE 07 05 JLS 08 10 IAN CAREY 09 12 LITTLE BOOTS 10 06 PITBULL 11 09 LADY GAGA 12 NE BLOC PARTY 13 08 LA ROUX 14 15 SEAN KINGSTON 15 07 CASCADA 16 NE JEREMIH 17 14 BLACK EYED PEAS 18 19 FLO RIDA 19 11 GUETTA/ROWLAND 20 20 NOISETTES The rest of the week`s iTunes Top 40 is thus... 21 JORDIN SPARKS 22 CHIPMUNK 23 CHICANE 24 DANIEL MERRIWEATHER 25 EMINEM 26 KERI HILSON 27 LILY ALLEN (22) 28 FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE 29 PUSSYCAT DOLLS 30 30H!3 31 FRANKMUSIK 32 LA ROUX (IN FOR....) 33 AGNES 34 LADY GAGA (POKERFACE) 35 PINK 36 TINCHY/N-DUBZ 37 JLS (UMBRELLA) 38 DIZZEE/ARMAND 39 IAN BROWN 40 PIXIE LOTT That is the chart that should be played on Independant Radio! The best thing to do is give all Independant Radio bosses a hard time. Keep emailing all stations. Most of all don`t even think of listening to Big Top 40...The Sales/Airplay method is ghastly (it always has been, since 1993). All airplay does is push over played Independant Radio songs up 50% more than they should be, and push the sales of Florence etc, 50% further down than they should be. It`s nonsense. Well, Martin got it correct the other week, by saying "I Gotta Feeling" would return to the #1 spot! He`s not as daft as I look! This week the Peas, take in 12,000 more than Tinchy...as it looks Calvin will not get higher than #3. But those two are very close. Soulja Boy slips to 51 this week, as the Freemasons are 52, it`s 53 for Taylor Swift. Keri Hilson is 55 "Energy". GG should be 56 but won`t be. Look out as Guetta/Akon heads into the top 75. Use Somebody is 57, Temper Trap at 58, Shontelle behind. 61 is Paolo Nutini. The top 70 also contains the other Pitbull song "Hotel Room Service", and another Guetta track "I Wanna Go Crazy". NOTE: These are not Official Charts. They are based on Chart Show TV`s, but with added sales minus airplay. The most up to date chart in Britain at this point. The Chart Show Top 20 Videos features at 9am on Saturdays (Sky Ch365, and Freeview Ch500). Fans of Retro Charts might like to listen to Richard Todd on Sundays at 2pm, on the internet via Atlantic Oldies 2NG...Richard plays most of the top 40 from this week in the past from the late 60s to the late 80s, even using old Radio One jingles from Richard Skinner/Bruno Brookes period...much better than Dale Winton!

August 14, 200916 yr Shockingly yeah, which proves that the Big Top 40 is kind of good in theory, but will never work on commercial radio :( Actually it's crap in theory and crap in practice.
August 14, 200916 yr I don't think it's crap in theory (more advanced than OCC's). But in practice (radio), yeah.

He apparently couldn't face all those concerts and it was making him very ill so he faked his death. Who knows? It's entirely possible. There are reports that only 2 people knew his plan and no family members. All his relatives think he died! Edited August 14, 200916 yr by Crazy Chris
August 14, 200916 yr Author Actually it's crap in theory and crap in practice. The theory is wrong by the way it`s compiled though. I mean, if the bosses at Global were rational and put logic in their favour...then they could actually play the full week`s iTunes Chart, but not do it direct against Radio One. Imagine the amount of "nutters" that actually do get taken in by listening on a Sunday. The regular boring/idiotic loon that listens to the "Local" Independant Station. Stations that don`t even broadcast from their hometown i.e. with you and I, Heart (formerly 2TENFM, formerly 210FM, formerly 210 Thames Valley). The same number of listeners would tune in, if Big Top 40 went out on (say) Saturdays. They will never get it right B-rye, because they pull in the same thick listeners (like the people that run these crap Radio Stations).

I think you're kind of tarring everyone with the same brush there Dave. A lot of people will listen to commercial radio because it plays more music that they like, or it's what their friends listen to, or etc. etc. And it's not like the Radio 1 chart show. is of such high quality anyway... it's only going to get worse, since they've fired the good presenter, and kept the bad one!
August 14, 200916 yr Dave, do you know something about the release of Tina Cousins' Sex On Fire cover?
August 14, 200916 yr Author Dave, do you know something about the release of Tina Cousins' Sex On Fire cover? Funny you should say that Ben. I was talking to some chap at HMV the other day. He said that we are looking at the end of October for it now. But he couldn`t confirm it.

Her Myspace said it will be released this sommer it looks like they will move it. I'm a bit sad, the further they move it, the less impact it will have... :(
