August 16, 200915 yr Author THE OFFICIAL REPORT: UK Chart Survivor Week 3 It's a good day for American house DJ Ian Carey aka 'The Ian Carey Project' this week, as his breakthrough UK hit 'Get Shaky' (#10 in last week's official chart) wins this week's UK Chart Survivor with a score of 4. Second place for a second week in a row is from British singer / former member of Mr Hudson & The Library Ben Hudson (better known as just 'Mr Hudson') and American rapper Kanye West with last week's official UK #3 hit 'Supernova', which had a score of 7. Another new entry to last week's chart, 'Never Leave You' from British rapper Tinchy Stryder and American singer / Sugababe Amelle Berrabah, was #1 in last week's official chart but only makes #3 this Survivor, hitting 10 points before its competitors. The first semi-final as always was a competition between the songs which charted between #31 and #40 in last week's official UK singles chart. The first of the songs to reach 4 points and be eliminated was Pixie Lott's debut single 'Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh) which was eliminated at 4:45pm on August 11th by Theo. Just seconds later, Michael Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror', the runaway leader for 'most popular MJ track after his untimely death' was given its fourth point by Ben. The next track was eliminated a full eleven minutes later, again by Theo. This time the song that bit the dust was Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer), the collaboration between Freemasons and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Further evictions took place at 5:02pm ('Number 1' by Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz, B-rye), 5:07pm ('Fire' by Kasabian, B-rye), 5:38pm ('Don't Trust Me' by 3OH!3, Theo) and 5:40pm ('I'm Not Alone' by Calvin Harris, Cal). In the top 3, Green Day's 21 Guns, second single from their current album, lost out on a ticket straight to the finals as Robot gave it its tenth vote at 6:51pm. Lady GaGa ('Poker Face') and The Veronicas ('Untouched') gained automatic entry into the grand final. The second semi-final was started on August 11th too - as normal host Robot could not start the game of the 10th, replacement host B-rye issued two semis on the first day. The first of the new set exited the game at 7:08pm thanks to B-rye giving it a fourth vote - debut single from girl group Girls Can't Catch, 'Keep Your Head Up'. Two minutes later, Funmaker evicted 'In For The Kill' from electropop duo La Roux. Theo immediately followed, eliminating 'Confusion Girl (Shame Shame Shame) by Frankmusik. At 7:12pm, B-rye took another victim, this time 'Bonkers' by Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden. Three further songs took their fourth vote and lost their chances of qualification for the final - first Australian Daniel Merriweather's 'Red' (7:18pm, B-rye), then The Pussycat Dolls with Gloria Gaynor sampling 'Hush Hush; Hush Hush (7:45pm, Theo) and finally two-time finals qualifier 'Never Forget You' from Noisettes (7:52pm, Theo). After a (not very) hard fought top 3, Swede Agnes' 'Release Me' was given a tenth vote by NickF1 at 9:04pm. Flo Rida and Nelly Furtado's 'Jump' and P!nk's 'Funhouse' went straight to the final. In a shocking turn of events, British band Florence + The Machine were the first evictees of the third semi-final, at 9:08pm on August 12th as Robot gave 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)' its fourth point. Jordin Sparks followed suit at 9:12pm, with 'Battlefield' evicted by B-rye. 9:13pm and 9:14pm brought two futher evictions - 'Knock You Down' by Keri Hilson, Kanye West and Ne-Yo (B-rye) and 'Boom Boom Pow' by The Black Eyed Peas (Theo). At 9:16pm, Titty joined the evicters list, voting out Sean Kingston's 'Fire Burning', and Eminem's 'Beautiful' was eliminated a few seconds later by ElectroBoy. The remaining songs were in a 3-3-3-3 lock (a rare sight), but Theo sealed the top 3 at 9:19pm, giving a point to 'Diamond Rings' by Chipmunk and Emeli Sandé. At 9:44pm, ElectroBoy made babies cry across the globe as he gave a tenth point to Chicane's 'Poppiholla', a trance reworking of Sigur Rós' 'Hoppípolla'. Unsurprisingly, the two tracks that went straight to the final were the former official UK #1 'When Love Takes Over' from David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, and last week's Chart Survivor champ, 'Remedy' from much-loved Little Boots. The fourth semi-final was possibly the most competitive of all, starting on August 13th. Prolific song eliminator Theo refused to continue play for an inexplicable reason. Rob was the first person to evict from this semi, giving 'Beat Again' by JLS a fourth vote at 8:12pm. ElectroBoy later evicted 'Paparazzi' from Lady GaGa, within the same minute. Cascada were the next evictees, with their 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' evicted at 8:16pm by B-rye. More evictions! 8:21pm ('I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)' by Pitbull, ElectroBoy), 8:28pm ('I Gotta Feeling' by The Black Eyed Peas, B-rye), 8:29pm ('Bulletproof' by La Roux, Rob) and finally 8:30pm ('Sweet Dreams' by Beyoncé, former Chart Survivor champ, evicted by B-rye). The top 3 lasted just 8 minutes, with Robot giving Mr Hudson and Kanye West's 'Supernova' at 9:38pm. Official #1 'Never Leave You' by Tinchy Stryder and Amelle Berrabah and official #10 'Get Shaky' by The Ian Carey Project went straight to the final ten. Mr Hudson [ft. Kanye West], Chicane, Agnes, Green Day. Two would go to the final, two would be eliminated in the playoff round on August 14/15th. The first of those eliminated songs was kicked out by Robot at 11:47am, August 15th. The second was at 1:06pm - Agnes' 'Release Me' evicted by ElectroBoy. Surprisingly, the song to come in 10th place was last week's winner, 'Remedy' from Little Boots, evicted at 9:01pm August 15th by Theo. 9th place was the other immediate qualifier from the same semi, 'When Love Takes Over' by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, out at 9:50pm thanks to Funmaker. And the THIRD qualifier from the same semi (albeit via the playoff round), Chicane's 'Poppiholla' was evicted at 10:26pm by Theo to come 8th. 7th place was surprise qualifier, 'Poker Face' by Lady GaGa (which has been in the official UK singles chart for *30* weeks), eliminated at 10:28pm by B-rye. Australian twins The Veronicas, from the same semi as Poker Face, took 6th with 'Untouched', evicted at 10:29pm by Theo (again). 5th place this week came from P!nk with fourth and title single 'Funhouse' from the album 'Funhouse'. Theo (again!) evicted her at 11:21pm. Missing out on a top 3 placing thanks to HalfPsycotic, Flo Rida and Nelly Furtado's 'Jump' (again from the same semi as the song directly below it in the final standings) was evicted at 11:27pm. Fate was sealed today (August 16th) at 2:19pm when Theo (surprise) gave Tinchy Stryder and Amelle Berrabah's 'Never Leave You' its tenth point. The final two: RUNNER UP -> Mr Hudson [ft. Kanye West] 7 - 4 The Ian Carey Project <- WINNER Join in with the fourth round, which starts tomorrow at 8pm hosted by regular host Robot (hopefully). Edited August 16, 200915 yr by B-rye
