September 19, 200915 yr Author I've always been a fan of Kuyt. But Lucas, sorry if you seriously think he is up to scratch filling in for Alonso then you are consistamntly watching a different player to me. All Lucas seems to be good at his heading into his own net. Because he seems incapable of threading a great pass forward like Alonso could do in his sleep. The bottom line today we were very poor against a very weakened injury hit West Ham side with only the world class Torres & Gerrard saving our embarrassment. We've been poor all season with the exception of our away win at Stoke. We were very poor against the Hungarian side midweek, and at this rate if we play like we are at the moment when we come up against Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd & Man City we are going to be beaten comfortably because they will tear us apart especially on zonal marking. We must be watching a different team then. Lucas' build-up play is fantastic. He's a totally different player to Alonso. But when "fans" get on his back he loses confidence. It's not easy to replace a world class midfielder like Alonso, but he's doing a damn good job imo. He's more box-to-box and his work rate and tackling is exceptional. Honestly right when I say this, next time you watch a Liverpool match, just forget about the game and watch Lucas. He can't string 30-40 yard passes all the time, and switch the ball from left to right as he's not an orcestrator like Alonso. He builds the play-up gradually, and that goes un-noticed. Steven Gerrard is my favourite player in the world, and I love to stick up for him all the time but are you seriously saying he saved Liverpool today?!!! I saw 30 minutes of the game and he was pretty poor. Nice to see for once though he's decided to not be selfish and take corners as he's honestly dreadful at them. I've seen nothing from any of the other teams that's got me worried about finishing out of the Top 4. And tbh, nothing that could stop us winning the League. All the top teams have major weak points, Liverpool's are no worse than any other of the teams around the top at the moment as our only real weak spot is Carragher and set-pieces set-up.
September 19, 200915 yr After one defeat (albeit embarassing) to what is by far and away the best team in the Championship?!  His signings are just pure tosh too though :( I mean Caleb Folan :( Makes Aliadiere look like a world class striker.
September 20, 200915 yr Southgate OUT! Bit of a surprise reaction to me as well. If they had lost by the same margin by one of the teams at the wrong end of the table, then I'd agree. They did have a good start, but seem to be hitting a rocky patch at the moment.
September 20, 200915 yr As always, what the ref adds on is a minimum and he can play whatever he wants. Bellamy scored in the 90th minute so the celebration could lead to more time added on there, and Man Utd made a subsitution in the 93rd minute which should mean more time added on to.

So there was only four minutes of added time for 45minutes, yet there was another 2mins 16 seconds for those 4 minutes of added time. Ridiculous. Brilliant match from a neutral point of view. But as a Liverpool supporter Michael Owen's winner was like a dagger through the heart. I will defend Rafa Benitez on a lot of things but not re-signing Michael Owen on a free contract was unforgivable. He showed once again that he is still a better player than Jermaine Defoe will ever be IMHO.

The board is only a guide, it's not supposed to be exact. And it's also much better to stop the game at a suitable point, just look at the controversy the ref caused last week at West Ham, blowing for half time as Carlton Cole rounded the goalkeeper....
September 20, 200915 yr When are we going to get some fukkin luck <_< <_< <_< <_< <_< <_< <_< Not that gutted about the result we weren't realistically going to get any points out of Chelsea away but now as well as Modric out we have ALL of our centre backs on injuries -_- King and Bassong both pick up what looks like long term injuries today to join Woodgate and Dawson who have bad injuries atm :manson: fukk fukk fukk

Well Given took an age to take a goal kick AND there was a substitution plus the goal was timed at 95:27, anyway you don't leave Michael Owen of all people free in a position like that!
September 20, 200915 yr I think it was perfectly reasonable to be honest. 4 minutes added, Bellamy scores after 89:54, the minute celebrating is added on to the four minutes. Man Utd then replaced Anderson with Carrick, 30 seconds is the standard time to add on for a substitution giving 5 1/2 minutes of stoppage time, 3 seconds more than it took Michael Owen to score. The 96:16 that TiP quoted is, I imagine, the time the game stopped, i.e. after Man Utd spent the best part of a minute celebrating. Put it this way, if Man Utd had scored a winner after 89:54, spent a minute celebrating and then made a substitution and the ref blew on 4 minutes after 4 were indicated, would Mark Hughes have been perfectly fine with that? No, he'd have been as livid as he is today that no extra time was added on for the goal celebration and substitution!

I don't even know why he plays, he's blatently not up to it and he should just follow Laursen's footsteps and retire whilst he's not completely f***ed and doesn't look like a huge joke. Shame really. :(
September 20, 200915 yr Author Michael Owen makes me sick. There's no way i'd want him back in the Liverpool squad. He's past it as well. Seems like the Manc derby was a good game. Two good teams playing against each other, so not a suprise really. I don't think Foster's ever gonna make it as Man Utd's #1 once Van Der Saar retires though... Suprised about the Chelsea score as well, although it does seem like once King went then Spurs imploded. Hope Drogba misses the Liverpool game, as then we might be able to beat them.
September 23, 200915 yr Sadly, Carlisle are out of the Carling Cup. Lost 1-3 to Portsmouth. Thought we had a chance based on their league form. :( Ah well, roll on Southampton on Saturday. :cheer:
September 23, 200915 yr Author The league is bent. :manson: Now Mascherano should have been punished (and this is coming from a Liverpool fan) yet nothing was done? Pfff. But saying that if Bellamy can get away with slapping a fan then so could Masch. Same goes for Gary 'the twat' Neville.
September 27, 200915 yr Few surprises yesterday. Chelsea had a bad day losing 3-1 to Wigan away. Liverpool had a slight scare when Hull equalised. As for Manchester United, Stoke City restrained them admirably. Thought Manchester United would have scored more than just two. Lower down, surprise loss for Leicester at home. Their home ground is a bit of a fortress. Also West Brom lost to Crystal Palace. Dagenham and Redbridge's winning home streak came to an end with a draw. Carlisle were pegged back to a draw. Think the ref allowed an extra minute at the end. :( Never mind, there is always the next game. At least we stopped losing.
September 27, 200915 yr Great result for us, 5 wins out of 7 is a great start and defeats against probably the best 2 teams in Europe was kinda expected but it is great that we have 3 prolific goalscorers this year in Crouch, Defoe and Keane CL won't happen but all looks good for European qualification
September 27, 200915 yr Your manager now has a selection headache thanks to the goalscoring efforts of Crouch, Defoe and Keane. Big headache for this week is Carlisle are away at Leeds United. I am hoping for a draw on Tuesday.
October 17, 200915 yr I have to just grin and laugh, apparently Manchester City are bidding £20 million in the January transfer window for the Sunderland beach ball after its brilliantly taken & deciding goal against Liverpool today. JPhHRXwUqU8
October 17, 200915 yr Fantastic win, fully deserved as well. That's two cracking performances and 4 points from a possible 6 against Man United and Liverpool, and we're disappointed not to have 6. Things are looking really good, there's no way we'd have managed to win and draw these fixtures last season. Cana was unreal, played like a man possessed even when he was forced to play centre back. Really happy with the win, the atmosphere in the SoL was first class and i'll be off out soonish to celebrate B) Been a good day for my Fantasy Football team as well: http://i37.tinypic.com/2cf89aq.jpg
