Right, just got my copy yesterday and after several listens this is my honest review (being a MASSIVE GA/Cheryl fan)

 

 

 

5/10 • "3 Words" Does get slightly better each listen but really not getting this so far - I hope i change my mind with a few more plays. At the moment i really cant understand what she is thinking in releasing this next. Cant see it doing too weel, even though its top 20 I Tunes atm.

7.5/10 • "Parachute" Really like this. Not a par on most GA singles but this has a lot of potential.

8.5/10 • "Heaven" LOVE this - She sounds great on it and it really hooks u straight away. Is a tad long though and could be cut by about 30 secs quite easily. Future single i hope.

9.5/10 • "Fight For This Love" Still love this, and still listening to it all the time. Shame none of the album comes near this standard.

6/10 • "Rain On Me" Not grabbing me straight away but a fairly enjoyable song.

5.5/10 • "Make Me Cry" See above but this gets a tad more annoying as is VERY repetitive.

4.5/10 • "Happy Hour" Horrible track - Quite cheesy and fairly bland.

8/10 • "Stand Up" REALLY like this and is the only really fast one on the album. Has Taio Cruz all over it and HAS to be a future single. Very commercial and catchy.

4/10 • "Don't Talk About This Love" Definate album track and should have been FFTL b side with 'Didnt I' on the album instead.

4.5 • "Boy Like You" Not grabbing me at all and seems to just sound like a few earlier tracks.

8/10 Heartbreaker - Still really liking this though she should have recorded more vocals on it.

 

 

Overall i am rather unimpressed, nothing like a GA album and nowhere near as good. Seems a bit bland overall with a few stand out tracks. I do love GA and Cheryl but this just hasnt grabbed me straight away. We shall see what a few more listens does.

 

Overall - 6.5/10

I'm going to start a survivor round soon-ish, so please nobody start one before then :)

So #1 in the mids :cheer: but a bit close to the Buble, adnd almost 2:1 up on Michael Jackson.

 

I think the fact it's £8.99 in HMV may just help it stay at #1 :D

Yay hope she can stay at #1! I went into HMV on Monday to buy it and they were playing Rain On Me. :D

I was expecting this to be awful after the bad reviews and mention of filler, but I really love the album and like every song on it :o

Yeah. There's something so charming and appealing to it isn't there? :wub: It gets better with each listen too.

11- Boy Like You (reminds me of Britney....and that's not good) CLEARLY FILLER

10- Happy Hour (I really like the chorus line "Some days I'm Sweet and some I'm Sour/ But I cant help but drink you up, cause you're my Happy Hour"

9- Make Me Cry

8- Don't Talk About This Love (subtlety at its best...the closest she will get to Whole Lotta History)

7- Stand Up

6- Rain On Me (Great track, sounds very Saturdays-y...great Horns section)

5- Heartbreaker (My favorite R&B song last year)

4- Heaven (Excellent intro and beautiful melody...catchy to the point of insanity)

3- Fight For this Love (Mid-Tempo at its best)

2- Parachute (Down...Down....Down....The best metaphor in the album and very "Say It Right")

1- 3 Words (Will.I.Am and Cheryl have given a twist to an entire genre.....moody R&B with alternative electronic beats....CLASSIC)

Is it weird that i'm starting to like Cheryl more than I ever liked GA, I really wasn't thinking it could happen as I couldn't stand her before she went solo.

XOMG XOMG XOMG!! The first few times I listened, I thought 'Heaven' sounded a bit like Nicola! :o And yeah, it's one of my favourites too :wub:
